I picked up some already weathered wall boards from Home Depot (not sponsored). I believe I bought 8 or 9 packages of these and had almost one package left minus a couple planks when finished. I used Liquid Nail and bran nails to hold up the boards.

💥 start at the bottom, and the weight of each plank will push down slightly and close up the gap between each one as you go up.. your way they are inclined to open up as you go. 🤟🏼

Thats a good tip. We made a few mistakes along the way but its still holding up nicely.

I am a bit concerned how the nails where just punched in random places...
@InteractiveRealm
@InteractiveRealm 2 года назад
No need to be concerned.. the nails are just to hold the planks to the wall until the construction adhesive dries.. the adhesive is what holds it to the wall.

Those nails in the studs? What did you use to level the boards? This should not be used for instructional purposes

No nails are not in the studs.. they are only there to help support the wood while the liquid nail dries. That's really what is holding the wood to the walls. And no I didn't level the wood.. I wanted it to look imperfect. The wood planks are perfect either.

Nice Video, would love to see how you put up the shelving. Thanks

They're just the standard floating shelves from home depot. They just screw into the wood panels.. which is fine for this as I won't be putting anything heavy on them. Otherwise I would've used longer screws and marked where the studs were.

I know Im late to the party... Excellent video. I notice you both started from the top down... All the manufacture videos have them starting form the bottom. Was there a reason for starting at the top? Also I noticed you ended up painting spots.... I hate painting so I was considering dark brown window caulk... Your thoughts? I am covering a huge wall 8.5 ft high buy 31.5 ft long....

Thanks! And actually I don't remember why we started at the top. I think it was just in case there was a half plank at the end then it wouldn't be too noticeable at the bottom. The chalk might be fine since it would be behind the wood then and no one could rub it off at that point. Most people I've seen paint the whole wall but I didn't think we needed to do that.

@@InteractiveRealm Thanks for the fast reply.... I am not a carpender, more an IT geek that likes to tinker with things. I am building a retro arcade in my basement and thought this barn wood look would be perfect.

@Richard Woodward no worries I used to be and actually right now am again a netsuite developer. Woodworking started as a side business. An arcade sounds like a great idea and I think the aged barn walls would totally fit the design. Maybe throw some wooden stools and some video game artwork.

What nail gun is that? It's not on your list of tools you have in your link.

Just saw I never replied to this so at least others will know.. uts the Ryobi One+ Brad nailer. You don't need heavy nails for this dance the adhesive does most of the holding. Andbits a decent all around nailer, I use it on a lot of my signs. Holds up to 2.5 inch nails if needed.

DO NOT install like these people did it. First and foremost, they didn't even find the studs. He was just nailing it into drywall. Also, start from the bottom.
@InteractiveRealm
@InteractiveRealm Год назад
No need for studs.. construction adhesive holds the boards to the walls. The brad nails i used wouldnt even hit the studs.. they were to temporary hold while the adhesive dries. And yes we shouldve started from the bottom.

💥I can tell that you’re a newbie. He used literally 5x as much adhesive that was necessary to hold those light strips. WAAAAY overkill and nails are not necessary. 43 years here as an advanced home remodeler. ⚒️👊🏼
