Anne Grethe Solberg was shot twice and almost bled to death. The doctors amputated her arm to save her life and she had to learn to walk again. She changed endless hopelessness to optimism by mobilizing her resources. She teaches us how to live with trauma by willingness to accept and change. She teaches us that nightmares mean that your unconscious mind is working hard for you. She confronted her challenges, fought, and succeeded. And she has accomplished things that most people would only dream of.
Anne Grethe Solberg is a Sociologist (PhD) and is passionate with gender and innovation. She inspire women to take higher positions to obtain gender balance in management. She believes that it is amazing what a body can handle
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

thanks I needed this today. I lost my whole dominant arm 10 yrs ago to flesh eating disease I was very physical and independent it was definitely a "stick in my spokes". I ran a 5 k in 2012 and I too, cried at the finish line. It took my arm, not my life. God Bless you for sharing.

Anne Grethe Solberg The timing of this video was so perfectly on point for me. You're strength is remarkable, it made me laugh and cry. Seeing how genuine and vulnerable you are in spite of the challenges you have overcome is proof that attitude is everything, and laughter and a positive outlook in the face of fear and sadness are what really impact our lives. You are a heroine. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The way that guy is slouching/laying flat in the front row is so rude. She deserves full attention. Anyway, her story is very inspiring and motivating.

Can anyone place her accent? I've never heard one like it before. I hear Scottish, but something else, too.

It's typical for that region in Norway :) (Arendal is in south of Norway)

Really? That's fascinating. Is there a strong Scottish presence in that particular area?

+Alexia's Shado there's nothing Scottish about it; Norwegian and Scottish accents are totally different

One would assume, but not in this woman's case. I have an ability to hear where the tongue is held in the mouth, and pick up cues such as how an "r" may roll, or how one pronounces an "a" long and rolling in nearly the back of the mouth. I heard a distinct Celtic lilt, and in time narrowed it down by a few key words enunciated the right way. Language is fascinating, and continually evolves and develops. Don't try to minimize it. After listening carefully to a language for a while, I learn where and how they place their tongue as they speak. For example, I can lose much of my own accent by pulling my tongue to the back of my mouth, for one.
