Looking into that Costway fridge so many mixed reviews BUUUUT…I eat the same way and you don’t have any issues with it and you’ve had it for a long time now…also I’m only using a 200w solar panel so you think that’s enough power?

Yea, it’s a great fridge! If it ever dies, I’d get the exact same one to replace it. I haven’t worked with solar panels yet, so my knowledge on them is limited. The fridge pulls about 55 watts when the compressor is on, so a 200 watt panel might work, but you might want to ask someone which a little more knowledge 😊. Sorry for the late reply.

I just started living in my car. I decided to not renew my lease. My setup is two 100 ah batteries, 5000 watt inverter and a 320 amp alternator. It was struggle to keep my subwoofer and fit a twin foam mattress. I wanted to keep my subwoofer if all possible. I shower at the gym every day, use a rice cooker and toaster oven for cooking. But don’t use it often. I use a fan and plan on getting a electric space heater for the winter. So far it’s been 6 weeks and finally getting situated. My plan is doing this for 6 months but maybe a year.
@simmpleenough

Wow, you have a nice setup! I can tell you planned very well before starting this lifestyle! Although I’m currently having a few issues with my power setup, I’m still happy I switched from the yeti goal zero to getting the 100ah battery and inverter. It can handle so much more. I’m glad you’re finally getting situated. Good luck. I hope you accomplish all your goals!

I just found your channel, I am an old man, all alone, all my family has died including my daughter, so I am seriously considering van life. The first video of yours I saw was of your new van. After it finished this video was recommended so I watched it. Both are nice but I REALLY like your van. I love how you have everything so organized and near in it. I love your kitchen in it. I have watched scores, probably hundreds of van life videos and in your van you had several awesome, smart ideas I had not seen anywhere else. Now I am going to watch more of your van videos. Oh, and I live your cute little chuckle you do often. That makes me happy. I think you are a very awesome young lady.

@simmpleenough

Yay! Good luck on your journey. I purchased a lithium battery. I advise you to do thorough research on the type of battery you choose because certain types of batteries work better than others in this type of setup. The Amazon link to the exact battery I have is in the description box of this video, I think under “Power Setup” or “”Power Sources”. Let me know if you have more questions 🙂

Oooh Can You make an Essentials video for your car needs sense you’ve downsized. I know for me I’d want the whole lithium battery plus the inverter and charger setup that comes with it, I want to also get the Jackery 1000(but it doesn’t have to be that exact brand) but I do want to get the big 1000 because I am going to be using it like crazy AND seeing some reviews it will be able to power some larger items unlike the smaller Jackery 500 also I want to get a house(regular) solar panel because I hear they’re better and actually worth it. I need a fridge, and am thinking about getting a few of the Dash miniature cookware like the rice cooker mini, and the toaster oven mini, maybe the griddle too
@wapaa26
@wapaa26 2 года назад
Some other things on my list are rain guards, fire ext, I’m thinking of D.I.Y.ing window insulated covers. I like the shower caddy/shoe rack hanging over your seat for quick access, even tho I don’t drink coffee or tea I’m thinking of the compact kettle to warm up some extra water, a heating blanket for those cold nights, because a)I won’t be able to afford a diesel heater and, b)I’m unsure of sleeping with a gas tank near me inside of the car. I’ve heard of ppl smelling the gas so I’m like… yeah no. What do you do when it’s time to wash clothes? Where do you store them?
@simmpleenough
@simmpleenough 2 года назад
I was just talking to Moosa about making an Car Life Essentials video! You have a great list, so far. I have the Dash 2 quart air fryer and love it. I didn’t even know they had all of those other mini appliances, so I’ll have to check them out! I didn’t get a gas powered heater for the same reason. I wash clothes at laundromats and store them in a plastic bin I got from Walmart. I briefly show the bin in my Updated Car Tour video. It’s behind my shower caddy.

@simmpleenough
@simmpleenough 2 года назад
Yes. My camp stove uses butane and I store them in my car, underneath my bed. I was really worried about this issue, as well, but they’ve been fine in my car, so far. Since I keep the car cool when the weather is too hot, and warm when the weather is cold, the inside of the car doesn’t get too hot or cold most days. At one point I was going to put the canisters in my roof cargo area, but there’s no way to regulate heat there, so I decided against it. I think they’re fine inside of a car because the temperature is more regulated. This, of course, is my opinion, so I want to advise you to do what you feel is safest 🙂

Wa alaikum as salaam! I mostly pray while seated in the drivers seat and sometimes on my bed. If I pray on my bed, I do it in the sujood position, since I’m unable to stand in my vehicle. If I’m in my office, or somewhere that has a private area, I’ll pray like normal there.

I'm about to start my car life and I'm excited, scared a little and stressing about the battery stuff...I do NOT understand it at all! This is a good video but I'm still worried I will have struggles w/that. I'm buying just a portable one right now but not sure about the volts and it's expensive so I'm hoping I'm buying one that's going to be enough...I have no idea which one to buy and I have a limited budget...I also am not that strong so I don't want it to be too heavy or take up to much room.

I’ve seen a lot of people promoting the Jackery on RU-vid. It doesn’t seem too big or heavy and if you don’t need to power a refrigerator full time, that might work for you. Honestly, whatever you purchased might work just fine if you don’t have a fridge in your car. If I didn’t have to power a refrigerator, I would be just fine with a small portable power station. I felt the same as you, in the beginning. Excited, scared, and stressed! Just so you know, even with months, or years, of planning, things will still probably go wrong. When it happens, it will be super stressful and will happen at the most inconvenient time! I’m speaking from a plethora of experience! I’ve been living in my car for THREE years, and I’ve JUST gotten my power situation to a good place…I hope, lol. I still have trouble finding new places to park overnight (the other day a security guard came to my car and asked what I was doing), and stuff is always breaking, especially when I’m trying hard to save money! I’ve learned that in life, and especially in car life, there will always be problems. The good thing is, with each problem comes a solution. It might not be the solution I wanted, but still, it’s a solution. Car life has really taught me what the saying “roll with the punches” means. Because of the constant problems I experience by living in a car, I’ve become someone who can handle issues much more calmly and I have way less freak outs when they happen! Another good things is that, over time, the problems will occur less and less as you learn from them and tweak things. After 3 years of constant problems, I’m JUST starting to find my footing in this car dwelling lifestyle. So, don’t be too hard on yourself if things don’t go as planned, at first. Every car/van lifer goes through these issues. You’ll figure it out. Thank you for sharing ❤️.

@@simmpleenough yes, that's probably what I'm going to get but I probably will need a fridge...what would you recommend for that? Like how much voltage?

Want to get that fan. Please give me the brand name for that fan. How do you charge it (USB?)? How much? And bought from where? Thanks.

That fan recently broke and I couldn't find the link to it anymore, so I recently bought this one and like it amzn.to/3NhCI4q . Yes, it's USB

Do you ever have an issue with critters or bugs?
@simmpleenough
@simmpleenough 2 года назад
So far, I haven’t had many issues, most likely because I live in the city. I had a roach once (I woke up and tossed my blanket off me and it was sleeping next to my leg 😯), but it was after my car had been in the shop for several weeks, so it definitely came from their garage. When I’m camping, I try not to put any food scraps near my car and clean it well at the end of the night. I am kinda worried about waking up one day and finding a spider or some huge bug in my car, but so far it hasn’t happened.

I used to have a large storage unit and considered living in it when I first started living in my car, but there were no plugs to be found! I think the building owners know people do this, so they don't make it easy.

If the cops ever approach someone living in their car? What advice would you give
@simmpleenough
@simmpleenough 2 года назад
I would tell them I’m pulled over for the night to sleep. If they tell me to leave, I’d leave. One night, I was pulled over on the side of the road trying to fix my camp stove that had fallen and started leaking butane. A cop turned on his sirens and did a quick flash light search in my car after asking me what I was doing. He could tell I lived in my car. Sometimes, I think that puts a little compassion in their hearts because they feel bad. Even though I know this is my choice & I’m definitely not in a sad/bad situation, I go with it because the cop typically becomes nicer, lol. Another time, I got the knock from security guards at a hotel and they just told me to leave, so I left. It’s nothing I worry much about.

I have the link to the battery in the description box under the Power section. I think it cost about $800 - $900. To me, it has been SO worth it!

@simmpleenough
@simmpleenough Год назад
It's not easy to keep it cool. I just used my fan and kept the windows down. At night, I'd turn on the air conditioner for a little while to cool down the entire car, then just lay down and try not to move at all, lol. The slightest movement caused me to be drenched in sweat again!

How are you saving when gasoline is like 5$ a gallon? 🤨
@simmpleenough
@simmpleenough 2 года назад
People who live in apartments or houses are paying rent/mortgage, utilities, and the same gas prices I pay. I don’t pay rent and utilities, so I’m definitely saving money. Also, fortunately, gas is not $5/gallon where I live. It has gone down to $3.90something. Even if I spend $100 a week on gas, it’s cheaper than rent. Also, I try to be smart about my gas usage and drive only when necessary (work and grocery shopping).
