Wonderful info! I found you when I was diagnosed with stage 3a and I do my best to follow all your advices! I am now stage 2 after a tremendous effort of changing my diet and doing intermittent fasting. Thanks a million to both of you.

So glad I found this channel. This doctor is a Godsend. Wish I could have him as my nephrologist. Caring, generously and intelligently giving out information. I was diagnosed with stage 3b ckd caused by my pkd 10mnths ago. Hopefully this Good Samaritan Doc is going to help me. God bless you Doc.
I’m from the Philippines, according to my nephrologist I’m already CKD 3a. Hearing your explanation made me hope that I will still improve my kidney disease.
This surely must be one of the best - maybe the best - health channels on RU-vid. Thank you so very much for calm clear delivery of information proven and with clinical evidence - offered so generously. Good health and happiness to you both and all your team - as well as all of us here trying to help ourselves and improve our health outcomes. Thank you thank you thank you.

Thank you for the right info about protien in the urine...it's true to avoid eating animal protien...for me i beat my kidney disorder in 41 days of diet...my lab results were amazingly good aftet following your tips and advice....thank you...God bless you both...
Really wonderful seeing such great educational videos on kidney Health. It's really appreciated throughout the world. I am an IgA patient for last two years without having sugar and blood pressure earlier. My Protein leakage was less than one gram but for the last six months it is between one gram to two grams. I have been taking Ramipril 2.5 grams for the last two years. I am taking one medicine as of now. My Protein leakage is not coming less than one gram. I am taking a plant based diet . But for protein consumption it is very conflicting to me what to take or not to take for controlling the progression. My question is if I could completely avoid milk , curd , chicken and fish will help me to control the protein leakage? Secondly between fish and chicken which is better to take and in how many times in a week . Which is easier to flush by kidney? Your channel is really helping me to modify my life style and food control to control the progression. Thank you so so much to Dr Hashmi and Ms Michelle
Thank you so much Dr Hashmi. You've help many CKD patients and I'm one of those. I clearly hear and understood everything you said but for Ms Michelle, i sometimes can't understand what she's saying because she talks very fast from high volume then to a very low voice volume. Anyway, I listened more from Dr Hashmi's very informative lecture, it helps a lot.
Thank you both so much, you're both God send . I have problem with protein spilling in my urine for two years. Then I found your channel and followed you through and your advice. Today I got my urinalysis results and it says no further action normal 1.8 mg/mml
@@evelynaustria5227 I don't use salt, all my protein intake according to my weight. I keep my weight to ideal . Mostly vegetables on my diet no meat sometimes fish.I'm on Losartan by the way.
@@stitchingcreativityforall9552 I followed there low protein diet which is your weight/0.8,no more salt in my food and mostly vegetables and sometimes fish. On losartan 50 mg. Then I do intermittent fasting. Drink ginger lemon and tea..spices and herbs on my food.
Thank you so much. Verrry informative and easy to understand. The message I get (which I'm on the path to) is run don't walk to a whole food plant-based nutrition eating plan.
I had protein problem almost 3 years before my kidney failure completely, unfortunately non of my renal doctors NEVER ADVISED lower or vegetarian options to safe my kidneys .
My friend me also I have high protein in my urine almost 2yrs now I have protien 1.30 my doctor give me some advise to avoid some vegetables high in potassium,,I'm wondering bcoz including the green leafy vegetables I'm so sad😥😥😥😥can u share with me what vegetables u eat everyday???
Pls share wd us what u did to lower protein in d urine coz i have proteinuria also. I don’t eat meat,,, I eat veggies and fish salads. Sometimes can’t avoid eating food in d resto when I’m out
Love your informations and passions in plant based diet, is there any chance that to know and talk deeper about elevated uric acid in CKD patients who already in plant based diet ? Do lower protein intake can lower uric acid in CKD patients? Thanks again for your great works in this area, so glad to find this channel. ( sorry about my english, I’m not native speaker, hope you can understand what I typed) best wishes :)
I had my yearly check-up where my doctor was going to review my bloodwork and he went down every thing which can be an issue and “no kidney disease” was one of the things he called off. I’ve been vegan 10 years and really do the WFPB pretty well. The only thing which is slightly high but by 2 points only, is total cholesterol. I’ve been more focused on soluble fiber and learned how important all legumes are. This got my levels down by 20 points. Love your channel.
Such a great explanation of what I am dealing with right now. Unfortunately, I have been dealing with a sinus infection for the past 1 1/2 months that is taking a long time to resolve.
I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes at age 45. I am now 82.5. Obviously made massive lifestyle changes. Was 260 lbs. now 190 for the last 10-15 years. My recent filtration rate was 47 so I started my ‘kidney education’. Have a super endocrinologist. Will write after next visit.
Thank you, Sean and Michelle for your great work helping people to help themselves. I have already learned so much and I agree with you that a holistic approach to better health is always to make your lifstyle, your healthy habits the foundation of your health. I am looking forward to keep learning more aspects of a sustainable, natural lifestyle and diet. 💚💖
I'm so happy you fixed the microphone now we can hear you clear and understand what you saying thank you for you do to save our life s that is all we have you are angels
This video was a God Send! It was so easy to understand! Thank you for making it plain! I really am feeling more empowered to make better health choices!
Hi, love your content! Any chance you can do a video that focus specifically on auto-immune inflammatory diseases that involve/affect the kidneys (ex. Lupus Nephritis)? Thank you so much!
Very important interview. Thank you. Recently my dr (np) called me obsessed. I have only told her once that I was plant based, but I guess she can't give me a lot of meds. I think they get approval for prescribing a lot of pills. I only go because I take a little thyroid, and feel I should have a primary provider, as I have a pace maker. I wish I could find a plant based dr. Thanks for all you do. I don't hear you talk much about drinking water. Is that a concern?
I have just been diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease. I started intermittent fasting about 3 months ago, not to lose weight, but because I wasn't feeling as well as I usually do. I am 74, 5ft 2 and weigh 52 kilos, and keep reasonably active. The doctor said he would start me on meds, I said I don't like taking them, and I forgot to ask what meds and why. Now he has sent me for tests for diabetes, but the thing is, if this can be controlled by diet and exercise, I am very proactive and will do everything that's required. I am not sure about medication, as I believe it's never ending once you start, and I also do not tolerate most medications. I don't know why, maybe because I abused drugs when younger. I am a beginner with all this, and hearing all different advice is frustrating and confusing. I have already cut out most junk foods and eat heaps of healthy foods, but according to different "experts" the healthy foods are not all agreed on, so I'm trying to work through this maze to take control of my own health. Doctor also said because of the rapid loss of function in my kidneys, if it keeps up, I'll be on dialysis in 3 years which I have already decided against. After listening to numerous videos, I think he can't say that as there are too many differentfactors involved. Anyway thank you for all the information, and making it easy to understand.
We're so glad that you are finding out videos easier to understand. You're right, all the info can be so confusing and frustrating :/ There is definitely so much you can do to take control of your health. Keep it up, you've got this!
i really can't catch the word this madam is talking, she talk very fast, only the last word i can understand. sorry, i am not english. its good sir that you explain again so this time i understand , same to dr. Ekberg and others.
Wow, this doctor is 👏 amazing. Thank you for all this information I can take to doctor. I've had blood in my urine for years and now protein showing up in my urine, but levels fine in the bloodwork.
Alhamdulillah Allah please Bless us all with health and send treatment for Ckd because your the best Curer and you only have the Cure My Allah help us All.. Aameen yaa rabbul alamin
Excellent advice. I just thought the quantitive aspects of meal portions - particularly processed proteins and sodium are also very relevant. North American food portions are traditionally very large and this may also be contributing to the problem.
This is very informative. I’m 46 years old . They prescribed meds to reduce the great amount of protein in my urine , is what they give diabetics?… I’m not diabetic. Dr said , if this doesn’t help .. I have to get a kidney biopsy . I’m so nervous. But I’m also wondering if the lisinopril caused protein . Also I was drinking a lot , off and on . I was wondering if this also contributes to kidney /Creatine urine protein ?… hope you see this doc , and respond.
I have CKD and I also do resistance exercises so, what is the proper number of grams of protein relative to working out so I can lose some fat and add a little muscle? In other words, I'd like you to address that fact that along with poor nutritional habits, most Americans are still far too sedentary, and their bodies are not using the extra protein called for via exercise.
Good advise, I also like to say being Type 2 the medications taken to control diabetes also Ozempic for weight loss under doctors care, side effets as in blocking all hormones and increase in protein to kidneys. Yes diet will help and it is not easy for some to switch over to a plant base diet and may need to think that is for life. In my area there are almost no dietitian I looked up some and they are leaving the proffession. Most likely people can't aford them.
Hello Doctor Sean Hashmi and Michele Crosmer Thank you so much for your interesting information about Health,i do appreciate your job.I wish you peace and happness under the sky of prosperity. Take care and have a good time. All the best. Your Student from Algeria.
I'm not Deabitic but bp was before now is under control 122/75 . But protein is in 24 hrs 534 mg after im take medicine for 15 days after im recheck results 0.09 ref range is 0.05-0.15
Can you guys recommend a bunch of brands and what not of good foods to get. I think I was looking at some of the "fast food types" of plant based burgers and the nutrition looked super bad. Or some more healthy options? Let's go to the grocery store and film an episode their... :) 12:00 - 4 mils of spilling protein in urine? I didn't understand that. What test tell you how any mills of protein goes in urine? my urine protein test shows under 14 mg/dL m is good. mine is 45. When would you take one of those drugs to try and lower protein in urine. Like how high a number of protein? Another fascinating episode!
Agreed! Would looove to see a video in real time of grocery shopping and fast food order options-because many can have busy days and occasionally pick up food.
I feel like ever since I got covid and the vaccine, my kidney function hasn’t been as good as it used to be. Just ordered a kidney cleanse supplement. Hopefully it helps me out.
I have two questions. First what fruits can I eat that won't raise my potassium. Also if you are overweight and you exercise that raises the potassium in your body, so how do you exercise without raising your potassium levels?
Awesome and informative video thanks so much, I am losing around 2000mg - 24 hour of protien and this video has informed on what I need to do and what I need to discuss with my doctors. My question to Dr. Hasmi is do you see patients virtually and do you prescribe the diabetic medications you referenced to patients with CKD and proteinuria that are only pre-diabetic?
@@anu2444 I started taking Losartan and it reduced to 700mg daily. Maybe she needs to increase dosage. There is another drug that can also help called Spironolactone and she can take both Losartan and Spironolactone at the same time. Do you know what kidney function she has EGFR? She needs to cut down on sodium and protein, maybe a piece of chicken hand size a day or fish hand size like salmon. No red meats or pork as they are harder to process. It would also help if she is overweight to lose some pounds. The only way to get healther is to eat healthy plant based low sodium and low protein.
@@jackattack2060 My mother's egfr is 108. Protein leaking have made her loose a lot of weight. She is now only 45 kg. Iam concerned about the protein in blood.
@@anu2444That is a really high egfr - low EGFR where she would need dialysis would be like 15 or below. Did you mean 108?? Most people dont even have that number for EGFR especially older people. There are medications that help lower protein loss (she may need a kidney biopsy to figure out why she is losing protein). Medications like losartan help lower protein loss as well as lower blood pressure.
Thanks. I have protenuria and ostroarthritis in the hip and stenosis in the lumbar. Are eggs bad for a person with these conditions? How many can a person have in a day and a week?
Hi I just found out that I have protein in my urine, I have a kidney transplant. I'm scared of losing it. I was on dialysis for 7 years before I got my transplant, I want it to last for the rest of my life.
I have a family member who was recently diagnosed with a stage 4 kidney disease. His renal doc has started on prednisone 3 tabs daily 20 mg, atovaquone 750 my/5ml and retacrit 20000 units/ML soln. I would like to know your option on this type of treatment.
We usually recommend limiting added sugar (like honey or maple syrup) to 1 tsp or less as a serving at one time. So 1 teaspoon of honey is 4 g added sugar. This is usually an acceptable amount in a tea. Check your spoonful amount that you use though and try measuring with a teaspoon to make sure you're not actually having 1 Tablespoon 3x/day.
