This is a short how-to video demonstrating how I lubricate a vintage Gillette Fatboy Adjustable safety razor. You will need your vintage razor, Tuf Glide, and a small rag for wiping off any excess. I watched a video from another RU-vidr, Geofatboy from ShaveNation and he covered every razor but a butterfly. And I have a Wilkinson Sword classic butterfly, so that was no help. Yur video was though and was excellently done. I had never even thought of lubrication of the razor until I saw him mention it and he never covered the most important one that needs lubrication, because of the doors.

I got a Gillette Super Speed at an antique store today and this video is most helpful in making it shave ready. Question: is there supposed to be a quarter turn on the SS like on the Fat Boy and Slim. I noticed this SS does not have that final quarter turn.

No. Only the adjustables came with the quarter-turn locking mechanism.

Brilliant video. Just what I needed as I've just bought a Gillette Slim adjustable. Quick question that I wondered if you could answer for me please? Is the Wahl hair clipper oil fine to use instead of the oil you mentioned?

I'm not the author, but to share my experience: TuffGlide can get sort of waxy and I would think it could do so in the inside of a razor. I think Wahl clipper oil would be fine. I use mineral oil. We're not talking about high temp, high rev IC engines or even the sort of motion and friction that clipper blades experience. I also use a needle oiler like the one in the video. It helps to get whatever you're using in the right place without a lot of mess.

@@johnnewell5025 Thanks so much for the help, appreciate it. Since I posted the comment, I got the Rex Ambassador. The guy who owns the company (Matt Pisarcik) who I was in contact with by email, said to me that the Wahl clipper oil is mineral oil and would be fine to use on the Rex, and other adjustable razors too.
