I've got a house of hydro ultra sonic humidifier set up with a 5 gallon bucket and a lid. Its using an 80mm fan and 3 transducer ring and it keeps all of my cloning, and seedling germination, and seed germination up to speed. I've got several tropical plant strains sitting there in vegetation, growing quickly and healthily. Thanks House of Hydro!!!!

If you run the hole saw backwards when cutting plastic it won't grab like that and will leave a cleaner hole.

Would it be possible to control the mist intensity if you add a VR to the ultrasonic component itself? Then you would be able to control the mist intensity as well as the fan speed to find the right humidity setting for a room or house. The ability to lower the ultrasonic frequency could also allow it to run indefinitely without requiring a cool down.

@TheHouseofHydro
@TheHouseofHydro 3 года назад
Hi, no I don't think it would make a difference. Just make sure that your fan is mounted up high so you can keep as much water in the container as possible. The water acts as a cooling agent for the transducer oh, so you need to keep as much as you can in there. If you have any other questions, feel free to shoot me an email at john@thehouseofhydro.com Thanks!

After making a hole for the cords, how would you recommend sealing the majority of that area off such that most of the mist is funneled thru the actual vent instead of both the hole for cords and vent?
@TheHouseofHydro
@TheHouseofHydro Год назад
Most people just use some closed cell foam. It's easy to smash into the void of your hole where the wires run through. It fills everything up pretty good, it is easy to pull out and clean if needed.

Hi, I am looking to use your units to humidify a mushroom grow room. Are you able to put me in touch with anybody using it this way. I see on your website that over 25 percent of people who buy the units use them for mushroom farming, yet I see very little on their actual use. I am in particular wondering if the transformers are waterproof, and if not, what people do with them. As well some direction in calculating outputs necessary to maintain a certain relative humidity, factoring in air exchange. Thanks!
@TheHouseofHydro
@TheHouseofHydro 7 лет назад
Hi, yes, we have a bunch of mushroom growers that use them. I definitely can't put you in touch with any on youtube. The best way to get a hold of me is John@thehouseofhydro.com. They are the same as using a very high powered cool mist humidifier though. It's pretty simple DIY and completely automatic if you use our controllers as well. As far as choosing the right size, the biggest factors in choosing a mist maker is the air exchange, target/current humidity, and construction material of the room. Unsealed concrete and wood can really absorb a lot of humidity, and rooms with a lot of air exchange can be hard to keep up with. Smaller units can overcome room material after some time, but heavy air exchange is harder to keep up with. If steady levels are needed, it's usually better to go bigger so that you can regain normal levels quickly. A specific sized mist maker is usually hard to recommend because every setup is pretty different, but If you let me know more about the area, I'll be able to help a whole lot more. Most small (closet size) grows can be done with a 3 or 5 disc. Mid size (bedroom sized) can be done with a 6-9 and larger (shipping container) grow can use (2) 6 disc units or one 12 disc. To make a fully automated humidifier you will need the mist maker kit, our 120mm fan(fully encapsulated waterproof fan kit), a humidistat (to automatically turn the machine on/off when humidity is needed) , and our float valve (to keep the water level full) Hope that helps some, John

Hey I was casually interested in ultrasonic mist makers just to screw with for a hobby. I am interested in high output. I might just use LED lights strips. Also do you know any that have high mist output that is variable? If not I might just cut the wire(s) needed and run ~12v dc directly from batteries (im a huge nerd)

If I dropped this 12 head unit into a 5gallon bucket would it work? I undertstand that putting the unit too deep into water will reduce the amount of fog. I am running some hydroponics and need to increase the humidity... what would you suggest?
@TheHouseofHydro
@TheHouseofHydro 8 лет назад
The 12 head is just barely too big for a 5 gallon bucket. You want to use as much water as possible to keep the unit cool, so I would suggest a 27 gallon tote. We also offer humidistat's to keep the level of the perfect humidity, and fully encased waterproof fans. Check out our website. We have tons of info and other products. Thanks!

www.thehouseofhydro.com/mist-maker-accessories.html Here is a link to our new floats. They are smaller than the float in the video, and allow for smaller applications. They can be mounted inside or outside the water tank. You basically hook your water source to the float via a npt valve or whatever fitting works for your application. The float is attached at the level you need to keep your water at. Hope this helps, John

@TheHouseofHydro
@TheHouseofHydro 7 месяцев назад
Hi, most tap water isn't too hard, but if you are getting a white dust you can use an inline RV filter available on amazon. They screw right onto a garden hose fitting and will remove most of the calcium that causes the dust. Just make sure the filter is for sediment removal, and not just a normal charcoal filter to remove bad taste.

@TheHouseofHydro
@TheHouseofHydro Год назад
Hi, good to hear from you. Lifespan is pretty variable with the discs and the transducers. Just to be clear, the transducers are the larger silver piece that hold all the white discs. Typically, the discs last between 3 and 5,000 hours. This can be shortened drastically if you overheat your water causing them to lose their rigidity. The transducers typically last between two and four years or so. This is more dependent on runtime, water quality, and water temperature. Hopefully that helps answer your question!

Hello, I have a question about how much heat this would produce in a greenhouse of about 8x6x7? Does anybody know?
@TheHouseofHydro
@TheHouseofHydro 2 года назад
Hey! The mist maker itself will heat the water, but adding the additional moisture to your greenhouse air will help drop the temperature in the greenhouse, not increase it. It of course depends on the size of the mister that you buy, but you can definitely expect to see a drop in temperatures. Some customers also add ice to the water to help increase cooling capacity during the hot times of the day. Adding ice and dropping the water temperature significantly can reduce efficiency of the mister though. If you need anything else, feel free to shoot us an email at john@thehouseofhydro.com Thanks!

Hi, yes it will humidify your entire house like that. As long as you are not injecting so much humidity that it condensates within the ductwork, you will be fine. You would need a ton of fog to do that, you should be just fine.

@TheHouseofHydro
@TheHouseofHydro 4 года назад
You definitely could. A lot of people do. it really just depends on your setup, and what you need. The only downfall to a trash can is that they are tall, and as the water level drops, if you don't have enough cord inside of the can, it can pull the mistmaker out of the water at an angle. With the larger mist makers, this can cause damage to the discs.

@@TheHouseofHydro excellent, thanks for the reply. I was wondering if there would be any problems with fog propagation when the water levels got low in a trash can considering all that empty space between the lid and the mist maker, but I now assume that isn't an issue if this is something people are regularly doing. Hi, check the dropdown menu. They're actually $10 cheaper than that, and $15 cheaper if they're purchase with a mist maker. Shipping to Canada kills us. The 80mm fan kit weighs 9oz, and costs Almost $17 to ship, vs $3 in the USA. We also have some basic waterproof fans that aren't fully encased. They're great fans as well, and are $35 to Canada. Hope that helps some. We are actually in negotiations with UPS that could help us drop our prices to Canada alot.

It's actually a very dry fog. The water particles are sub 5 µm so they don't tend to collect on surfaces. Unless you're forcibly directing it at something it won't wet it. Check out our website, we have almost a decades worth of customers using these as humidifiers. Thanks!

Hi! Could I just use a duct fan for the input fan? If I was attempting to use a 1 head unit to humidify a 4x4x7 foot space to 50% humidity, would that be a big enough unit?
@TheHouseofHydro
@TheHouseofHydro 7 лет назад
It depends on how much air exchanger half. I would probably recommend a three disc unit for that size if you have high air exchange, and lower humidity. It's better to go a little bit bigger and have Plenty, than to go small and have to run the unit 24/7.

I'm guessing it mentions that in the video... The videos pretty old. Since then, shipping prices have nearly doubled, We've been hit with insane amounts of tariffs, and our manufacturing cost has gone up over 35%... We actually tried to eat a lot of those costs ourselves and almost put ourself out of business when the tariffs hit. We hadn't raised our prices one penny until the ship was almost sunk. Probably throwing out too much information, but we really have tried to keep our prices as low as possible.

Sumit Yadav it really depends on you our water temperature and air temperature that you are blowing in there with the fan. However, if you have a mist maker and a very small amount of water, the water will heat up and raise the temperature of the mist.

Question - so we've got one of these setup, but for some reason the mist maker quits listening to the humidity sensor and just turns on 24/7. Does anybody know of any troubleshooting tips on this? We replaced the humidity (Ink Bird) reader and the issues occurred again.

Hey Jon! I would contact InkBird directly to ask them about it... They have a good reputation, so I'm sure they'll help you out. It sounds like it's a programming issue with the controller, but I'm not familiar enough with their products to help much.

ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L5FTCsW9Zu8.html - Finally put it all together... Very easy. Save yourself the trouble of figuring out a fan and just get one off their site. Have to admit, this thing is impressive! Took a leap and got the 12-head and WELL worth the $. I ordered direct off the house of hydro website, which, as they stated, has the best price/value I found. The fog output is insane, but here in Washington, it takes every bit of that fog to get the house above 15% humidity. I have two accurite hygrometers and have been using a hot mister and a Honeywell Quietcare to try to up the humidity in the house, only achieving 28% before I got this unit. Now we're at 50% and able to go higher, but I turn it off around there. The cats don't even mind the thing since it's quiet, and their fan is quiet. And, for the first time in months, I can pet the cat without getting a "zap" from static.

Really depends on your water quality and runtimes. Hotter water temperatures over 100° can wear them down faster as well.
@plips71755

zit seems to me this would have to be place high because the mist is only going up a certain distance and then very rapidly falling. I need for my plants something fogs the room or greenhouse with a very fine mist that fills the space ceiling down not that all ends upsetting the floor and quickly,sinking. Some of the orchid folks have tried these types and they just don’t do the job...maybe for other purposes they work. Also these would ruin wood floors, make tile slippery and have the paint peeling off the walls and woodwork. Folks think before you use something like this inside your home. You can’t raise the humidity above 50% and I wouldn’t go over 40%. I have lived in Florida back in the 50s and 60s and even where I live now up until the late 80s without air conditioning - I remember the summer grunge of mold and mildew on everything - we had to run dehumidifiers to get the mold down. In my current house of concrete floors - without air conditioning in the summer it smells like a musty sheet. I finally tiled just about everywhere and the air conditioner stays on until summer is over. The rooms that have carpet were sealed and special padding put down. A friend had a hot tub installed in her basement and it about rotted out her house, caused all kinds of bugs drawn to the moisture including termites. It was only uncovered for about an hour a day. In the winter the moisture just dropped off the walls. Humidifiers are great to keep you and your house from drying out too much - but I think something like this putting that much moisture out is for a greenhouse, sealed floor to ceiling grow room etc. Check with an environmental engineer or whoever knows what a house can handle. And if you are renting, please don’t just do it because you don’t own it. If you get sued, you might be paying it off for a long time. I know I’m being a wet blanket but just think before you leap. Nothing against this company at all - don’t know them, haven’t bought from them but have watched these various videos. Most plant folks recommend using a filterless cool mist humidifier I believe in the house.
@TheHouseofHydro
@TheHouseofHydro 6 лет назад
These are actually the same technology as a cool mist humidifier that you're recommending. They're just higher powered than what you can buy in walmart. It's a dry fog, (< 5 Micron, so it doesn't wet surfaces unless directed onto them under force. No need to mount it up high. Our 120mm (110CFM) fan does quite well distributing the fog into the air. You can also pipe the fog to a higher level if needed if using it for something like a reptile cage. One of the many benefits of making your own humidifier. We even have these same mist makers being used in Guitar Museums, and art galleries in order to prevent damage. As far as I know, their paints not peeling :-) We also have them being used in homes, greenhouses, cigar humidors, mushroom grows, mj grows, food storage warehouses.... I could go on all day. You're correct about the limits of raising your humidity. The max is about 55% and you'll enter into a zone where mold can propagate if it's held at that level for an extended period of time. Thats why we offer a humidistat that can auto maintain the perfect levels for your project. Thanks for watching our videos, and taking the time to comment. John, The HOH

Hi guys can you advise me on the correct model to use i thought the five head one would be plenty for me but not sure my grow room 13 square mts cheers
@TheHouseofHydro
@TheHouseofHydro 7 лет назад
Good to hear from you. The biggest factors in choosing a mist maker is the air exchange, target/current humidity, and construction material of the room. I would probably go with a 5 or 6 disk though. The 6 is a much more high output unit compared to the 5 disc, and should do well for you if you look to expand, or just want nice steady levels. To make a fully automated humidifier you will need the mist maker kit, our 120mm fan(fully encapsulated waterproof fan kit), a humidistat (to automatically turn the machine on/off when humidity is needed) , and our float valve (to keep the water level full) If you want, you can also add our Mist output Controller to turn the mist makers work load down. This will reduce it from 100%. I'm not positive if this will help extend the life of the unit, but it feels like it should...lol. It can also be used instead of the humidistat if you don't need perfect humidity levels, and you want to save some money. If you have any other questions at all, just let me know.
