this method looks way easier and way more expensive, but also worth it. I haven't made any rings yet though, I've only started purchasing the tools. just need a torch and a press.they should definitely pay you for promoting these tools hahaha thanks for the videos
your method of making rings differ little bit from mine. but then again I have better tools. I think it's fantastic that you're teaching classes. I bet that really can cut down on the learning curve for people new to the Hobby.
I find that the hardest thing is the fold I did a Morgan a day ago it turned out nice but sizing it it split rite in the middle any ideas why that happened😇
If you were to want that same size ring with a coin as large as a Morgan dollar but, don’t have a Swedish wrap folding cone, couldn’t you just start with a smaller hole like 3/8” and just have a thicker ring? And do you also size the cut side the same or do you just make it symmetrical on the outside? Because, when I try to make the inside size the same the outside isn’t perfectly symmetrical.

It sounds like a jeweler's lathe would suit your production well, as it would offer you more control for deburring. Depends on how much you care about it, given that you'll probably want to sand it again anyway.
+Robert Coffey That is an interesting solution! I probably wouldn't though. It costs more than I would want to spend and my studio is full of expensive tools I no longer use lol. Plus I would have it deburred the regular way before I could put it into a lathe probably.

Correct me if I am wrong, but heating the coin up to anneal it then quenching it tempers the metal making it hard again. I think you are better off letting it cool by air.
No that isn't true for non ferrous metals. I usually mention that in all my videos because it is a common misconception but I might have forgotten in this one.
How do you decide what you want outside on a morgan coin ring!!?? Out of all the rings I make it's the hardest one to choose. You have an 1800s date you almost have to have it on the outside .... but all the nice details , In God we Trust, one dollar and United States are all on the opposite side🤔
