Up early in the morning, 2 am, and found these videos. Been working on starting a beard oil company for about a year and getting close. Research is key and finding what worked for me first is key. Have many companies oils and butters to see what I liked. Many different carrier blends I tried until I found something to make and adjust. I enlisted help from some great guys that own beard companies that have help guide me this far. A great community

@RuddyManGrooming
@RuddyManGrooming Год назад
I have used it as a base for balms and butters in the past. The only reason I don’t know is that the natural scent of that butter is SO strong that any added EO’s or FO’s can’t compete. If you use it, I DO think a refined version will help and won’t hurt the benefits of the product.

I'd honestly love to start my own beard care brand I just lack the knowledge. There are so many different brands and types of carrier oils and scented oils. It seems like it would take forever to lock down a good blend of everything. I wish I had some buddies that I could team up with and start something cool but I don't. The idea of it is very appealing, but the reality of it is something else all together.

It can be daunting, for sure, especially with a more crowded industry (some people mistakenly call it “oversaturated” when we, in fact, are in the first stages of such an industry), but start simple and move along with it. Test things out and try them with trusted friends who want to give real feedback. Then tweak as you go. May take time, but try it out!
@AbooHafsah

Hey Ruddy, thanks for your input, much appreciated. One thing I would like to ask if you wouldn't mind, would you source your ingredients domestically or from abroad such as China. I believe China would be the cheaper option, however I'm not sure I can always rely on any claims of it being 'cold pressed' or 'organic' unless I see genuine certificates. Thank You
@RuddyManGrooming
@RuddyManGrooming 3 года назад
Abu, you raise a great point. Yes, Chinese sources tend to be more affordable, but I would lean your way. Do some homework, check out all the sources you’re truly interested in, and at the end of the day, SLOW GROW works. Especially if you can sleep well at night knowing you haven’t made unnecessary shortcuts. Thanks so much for the question. If I can help, lemme know!
@jiinx72
@jiinx72 3 года назад
I wouldn't go to China for any oils be it carrier or essential. I'm making my own beard oil/balm and butters for myself. I'm getting all my oils from a UK based company that make full organic oils done by cold press and can produce full certification if required. You don't want to go cheap or filler type oils because your putting these on your skin and you want to avoid nasty reaction's for yourself or others if you start making them for family,friends or general public.

Hello just came across your video, I'm in the beginning process of starting up own Beard oil business, thank you for the usefull Information. One quick question I was considering starting off with three separate fragrances, do you think this is an OK idea or should I focus on one fragrance to start with?
@RuddyManGrooming
@RuddyManGrooming Месяц назад
I think starting with three is great. I’m sorry this response is late, but my two cents is that having three gives your prospective audience enough choices to like at least one without breaking your bank making them.

Hey man thanks. I tried to make my own beard oil, the thing I'm struggling with is making the cedarwood last more than 5 minutes. I've put 15 drops into 30ml of carrier oils, the smell is there however after 5 minutes its gone, is this normal? Is it safe to put in 20 drops in 30ml?
@RuddyManGrooming
@RuddyManGrooming 3 года назад
Hey Abu, This is precisely why many makers have forgone using strictly essential oils and now utilized skin-safe fragrance oils. They are scientifically proven to be “neutral,” in that they don’t add to or take away from your skin or hair’s health, but their scent duration and strength is much more consistent, and many times, you can use MUCH less for a greater-smelling product that lasts longer. Also, they are MUCH more affordable, and since they don’t hurt you (as long as you’re following IFRA guidelines on volume), they’re a win in my book. Thanks for reaching out!

@RuddyManGrooming
@RuddyManGrooming Год назад
It is daunting, but there are SO many great and reputable wholesale/bulk suppliers that listing them here won’t help. Search engines prove useful for finding them…you will need to go digging around to ensure they have IFRA certification sheets/info on their fragrances, and then just simply make sure the products you’re purchasing as raw goods all line up as wholly natural/refined goods, with NO fillers…Ain’t nobody got time for dat!

@RuddyManGrooming
@RuddyManGrooming Год назад
Hey Aaron, great question! The short answer is no, not in the US. However, I would strongly urge you to register as an LLC for liability coverage, as it will create a protective buffer between you personally and your business should it ever endure litigation. It’s always preferable to use great safety and business methods for the coming day when the FDA will regulate our industry’s production, so stay conformed to IFRA standards and you’ll be ok!
@Aaron83W
@Aaron83W Год назад
@@RuddyManGrooming thanks for your reply Ruddy. I have an LLC set up and have liability insurance. However, I live in Las Vegas and someone told me that anything other than soap is considered cosmetic and I would need a cosmetic license, which you can’t get for residential manufacturing. @RuddyManGrooming
@RuddyManGrooming Год назад
@@Aaron83W I can’t speak for Vegas, but I and my compatriots don’t have required cosmetic licenses as our industry is not regulated by FDA as of now.
