How to Make Cologne Scented Beard Butter 

I've made my own beard butters for years and I believe that whipping them once they are nearly set results in a much more like butter consistency. If you don't whip them, the result is much more like a balm, a bit tougher once set.

You've helped me out so much with your advice so I thought I'd give back.....hobby lobby now has most of the base oils and butters and essential oils in stock and readily available for decent prices.

True you gotta let it sit but the hand mixer ( the one you use to bake cakes) is what’s needed to get smooth texture

Scuba, you’re becoming quite the beard product creator! Perhaps you can try to replicate beard oil jelly next.

@Beardtube I believe if you boil Shea butter it becomes grainy. So you need to try and boil the rest like normal and then take it off the heat for a while so that it is still hot but not boiling and then mixx the Shea butter in. Hope that helps!

That blacklight is the Chizzz! Sometimes I put some in my Stache before bed just to smell it while I’m going to sleep. I wish I knew what they used for the scent. I would buy a cologne if they made it.

I made some the other day to try and replicate this scent....closest I ca man get is bergamot and vanilla mix It’s close enough

If you leave the balms and butters to stand for like a week plus you'll notice they get smoother don't know why just know it does also the unrefined shea butter has a more coarse texture so if you just filter it it also comes out more smooth

I've actually gotten a reaction from certain essential oils. Spice from a fall scented oil I had would irritate my face just slightly enough that I assumed I had a scratch that had gotten some oil in it.

Try whipping it with a mixer. That might make the butter more fluffy.

What up Scuba, How often do you clean up the cheek and neck lines? Its been about 2 months of growing so I havent trimmed any length. Ive only faded my side burns and cleaned up my cheek and neck lines about 3 times.

I know most of the big cologne brands out there but had never even heard of fragrance maker CREED before. So I googled them.. Holy Balls!! Why is it so frigging expensive??? $300-$400 for a 1.7oz bottle? I’ve spent $70 or so on Aqua di Gio and other scents back when I used to wear colognes but that is unreal.. How good do their colognes smell and what else does it do for you? I’ll have to check out the knock off versions..

Photosensitivity.. check the essential oil online and see if it's an issue, and then just be aware. Lemongrass i know for sure with give the skin some sun sensitivity.

I know you don't want to measure out your ingredients and calculate ratios, but just be aware that essential oils used like that can cause severe skin reactions. Most essential and fragrance oils have SPECIFIC usage concentrations. Differing for both skin and body. Most vary between 1 and 2% of the total formulation. Some essential oils are toxic if used above 0.1% and even less such as Nutmeg. Silly risky to just pour essential oils from the bottle without following maximum concentration guidelines.

I've read that you run the risk of burning your skin with citrus EOs in direct sunlight. Lemon, Tangerine, Lime, Orange etc.

I’ll let you in on a little secret fella. If you want it to be creamy or less solid, you need to whip. Chill it for around 20 to 30 minutes, take it out, whip it then leave it to set again. It generally works better in slightly bigger batches. It also helps if you put a tiny amount of Vaseline or Glycerol in there.
