It looks great! We have a recipe with the exact same name (beef tartare), but the meat is grinded multiple times and it’s seasoned with grated garlic, onions and seasoned with loads of mustard, ketchup, paprika purée and you have to wait at least 24 hours before eating it. Completely different dish, but equally delicious. I wonder if the original recipe was morphed to compensate for lower quality of beef? Anyways, as always, thanks for sharing!

Hey Sylvia.. me again 😃 That sounds absolutely delicious!! To my knowledge Tartars actually originated from Mongolian warriors who would keep the meat under their saddles to tenderise it before eating raw. This was then made popular in france during the medieval time but they would traditionally use horse. It wasn’t until the 30s-50s that the recipe started to travel and evolve into different dishes.. amazing really! Fantastic dish.

Mate looks superb! Options if we don’t have a grinder? Get butcher to do it? Or can we do something else?

I’ve always know tartare recipes to be finely chopped steak with a knife not ground in a mincer so interesting to see a different opinion.

Thank you mate! 100% ask your butcher! Alternatively you can cut in super fine which a lot of restaurants do.. what ever option is best for you 💪🏼
