Made the blackened chicken. Very easy and just a short time to prep and cook. Made sandwiches with the leftovers, equally delicious ! Okra next !

My mother would dredge the “coins”, (bite-size morsels), in a mixture of cornmeal with a measure of flour… more cornmeal. Salt and pepper. Fry it quickly in butter/oil mixture. Very little fat was absorbed. I have NEVER eaten okra in a dish that had that slimy consistency ❣️🤭🤮. Only my mother’s way of preparation. 😋🤩

I'm going to try this spice rub today with pork tenderloin cutlets. Don't have any smoked paprika so going to add few drops of liquid smoke rubbed on meat before putting in rub. HAS TO be good.

Why use dried oregano and onion/garlic powder instead of the fresh variety?
@leonardhatcher3272
@leonardhatcher3272 3 месяца назад
The powder sticks to the chicken better. Also keeps moisture down so the chicken browns rather than steams
@sandrah7512
@sandrah7512 3 месяца назад
With the high temperature required to achieve blackening, fresh herbs, onion and garlic would likely not only not stick to the chicken, but burn almost immediately. Dried herbs annd spices are the way to go for this type of cooking.

if you haven’t had well prepared okra, I can understand your aversion. But consider trying it roasted or tossed in cornmeal and skillet fried. But DO NOT denigrate an ingredient because of your personal experience

Nope, Jack, the vast majority of the corn grown in the U.S. is not for human consumption at all, it’s grown to feed livestock and make gasoline.

One could pound the chicken without the plastic, if the meat in the US wasn't injected with so much salt water.

The absolute BEST way to prepare okra is to gather them all together, place them in a small plastic bag and seal it tightly so none fall out and take that bag and throw it directly into your garbage can. Putting them down the garbage disposal works well too, but it takes a little more time.

Maybe you don't know how to cook them. They are gooooood. Just the simple way: sote some onion, add okra, then a can of chopped tomatoes. That's all. Add some salt'n'pepper.

@@timoteiafanasie4894Is there any cooking method for okra so it isn’t glutinous?
@timoteiafanasie4894
@timoteiafanasie4894 3 месяца назад
@@sparkyheberling6115 i don't think so. But you have to somehow keep them in 1 piece, don't stir very often and be very, very gentle. There used to be okra in tomato sauce in jars, not anymore. Now I can find it here in brine or frozen. A little more work to do and a bigger chance to break them. Also use very small ones. If you keep them in one piece, then you make a very good food, just with 3 ingredients. At least I like it very much. Remember: small ones (2, 3 cm or 1 inch), don't break them.

With non-continuous recording and tight shots on the pan, those tools could've been cleaned up or substituted for another when they weren't being used. And the pan and cooked chicken surfaces are so hot (you only need 165°F for instant bug death), how much cross-contamination would there be?
