HCl will liberate chlorine from the bleach solution. Pls do not add because this reaction is not safe

Reduce the quantity of the ingredients to one-half, for 20L of the products. Or to one-quarter for 20L of the product if you consider cost of materials but the potency of the final product will be compromised.

No this is about 5% w/v sodium hypochlorite

How many litres is your drum? Find out what the capacity of your drum is then convert the ingredients to the capacity of the drum. Eg: (for a drum of 80L capacity) Caustic soda: 1kg = 40L -------kg = 80L Answer= (80 x 1 ÷ 40) = 2kg

Concentration is strong enough to kill germs. It is recommended for disinfecting toilet bowls, cleaning of floors and surfaces but not for surgical tools/ clinical uses

The only condition that reduces the shelf life of sodium hypochlorite bleach is light. As long as the product is stored in an apaque container the potency will last up to 3years

IN TERMS OF USAGE: 1. Calcium hypochlorite is an intermediate material used for making sodium hypochlorite. 2. Calcium hypochlorite is a source of chlorine for making sodium hypochlorite. SIMILARITIES: Both of them are bleaching agents but sodium hypochlorite is a stronger bleaching agent than calcium hypochlorite because it ionizes completely in aqueous solution to librate the hypocrite ion which is the active chemical species in this regard.

This is recipe gives a bleach solution which Is suitable for your request.What you will only add is powdered detergent.

The concentration of the sodium hypochlorite bleach made in the video is 0.35mol/dm3 or about 5% w/v

The product already contains salt as a by-product from the reaction. You don't need to add industrial salt again. Industrial salt is merely a preservative and a drying agent which is not needed in bleach

The recipe of 2kg of Calcium hypochlorite + 1kg of caustic soda + 2 Kg of soda ash in 40L of water gives a bleach of 2.3% w/v sodium hypochlorite concentration. For 6% concentration you need to vary the quantities of the materials. Give me some time to work on this for you. Remind me after about one week from today.

This solution is not strong enough to bleach pulp for paper making.

No hydrometer does not work here. It is iodometry that works

The bleach made this way is suitable for household disinfection. However for sterilizing medical equipment 6% concentration is effective. Give me some time to carry out titration on the bleach so as to establish its actual concentration and tell you how to dilute or concentrate it for medical purpose cos some pathogens can be really stubborn.

Industrial salt is common salt (sodium chloride) that has not been refined. It doesn't add to the quality of bleach. What makes a potent bleach is the amount of sodium hypochlorite in it. For your second question: Sodium hypochlorite bleach does not actually remove stains or off-colours from white clothes but covers them with white shade. So as you wear the clothes the white shade wears off and the "off colours" are re-exposed.

No if you double the ingredients you will only make 4.6% ( ~ 5% w/v) hypochlorite concentration.

@@Utibe-Tutor thank you for your reply. I use alot of SH to wash roofs. I would like to make large quantities. I have a 1000Litre poly plastic vat. Would I be able to use the same ratio of ingredients in say 800 Litres of water? And would the reaction in a large quantity like that take longer than 24hours? Is there any way to make a stronger concentration with this method?

Hypo has a strong antiseptic smell which is difficult to mask with any other smell. This strong smell is what defines a good quality hypo. However, if you still insist on adding a good smell to it you can try adding a spoonful of strawberry.

For white clothes only: Take one cup of bleach and add to 3cups of water. Then add your detergent to this mixture and brisk it then soak your clothes inside for some hours before washing, scrubbing and rinsing

This requires serious calculation. Why do you want to make strictly 5.25%? . Household bleach ranges from 3% to 6%.

Do the simple proportion Calculation Eg 1kg of caustic soda is to 40L Then xkg of caustic soda is to 25L. Find the value of x . That is, x = 1x25/40 = ...... Do same to other ingredients

Sorry there is no free chlorine in the formulation. There's only a compound of chlorine - sodium hypochlorite which is the active ingredient in the bleach

@@Utibe-Tutor please I am asking if I was to sell ,will this quantity of ingredients to 40 liters of water give me a profit?? So I wanted a recipe for business. The quantity of the chemicals u gave some people used it with 90 liters of water, I don't know if it is correct.

This quantity is for 5% sodium hypochlorite bleach which is recommended for house hold use. This gives you a bleach with a pale yellow colour which is best. However if you double the water the bleach becomes colourless and less effective and will not last long on shelf. You will also receive negative feed back/complaints from your Customers. But I would advise you follow this recipe or if you must increase water don't let it exceed 60Litre.

Yeah, that's what I wanna know. What's the percentage of SH here? This would be worth doing if you're getting a high concentration that you can highly dilute. If the concentration here is no more than 10%, then you're better off buying it in a store. I've done the math on everything. I do soft washing for a living, so I would love to start making it, I could save a fortune, but not if it's not pure.
