Zip tie it to the old pipe as you go to help bending.

The second tool that had the stopper bolt, and double ended flaring tool is the only one needed. I was surprised at the single flare tool

100% agree on those flare tools! Have used cheaper tools in the past and they do work but they can be a pain and aren’t as consistent as those.

I’m so glad to finally see you make a video. I understand getting burned out making videos, I used to maintain a Corvette club website that documented a lot of activities. Sometimes making an update that included a lot of new material was very hard to get enthusiastic about doing it. Regarding brake lines, or pipes. In my experience here in the USA, the double flares are standard, everywhere. Even my 50s XK120 Jaguar used double flares. And yes, double flares require a special flaring tool. Cheers!

Welcome back!! You spurred me on to do a few jobs on my own cars, I have now done two sets of disks and pads, one of which the MOT tester said the brakes are fantastic for a car of its age 🙂🙂🙂 so thanks and keep up the good work 👍👌

There is so many ways to make it but I normally put one end on first before bending because the tool is bigger than the first bend, also I just follow the old pipe when the cooper pipe is coiled. Great to see you back! Keep it coming!

Glad to see you back.I have sold my MK3 since your last video. I loved that car but now the wife uses the car daily she wanted something different. I will still be following you though and my son as well. He is still learning about the joys of car ownership and finds your videos very informative. It gives him confidence to carry out different tasks. Look forward to seeing the Mondeo back on the road.

Nice having you back. I have the same setup for brakelines, but I´ve added a small handheld tube bender tool and a deburring tool. I prefer to remove the edges after the cut and also bend my pipes with a bender to avoid any collapse. I´ve also been told that cars with ABS should use copper-nickel tubes. Pure copper lines will not like the shocks of the ABS-pump over time. I have not tried out this theory, and played safe with CuNi tubes. I have also found the Sealey pressure bleeder, but not tested it out yet. It has a capacity for about 2 litres, so you can bleed for quite a while before the reservoir runs empty. Looking forward for the followup vids. 🙂

The line end is called DIN or ISO bubble flare. Most cars use inverted double flare. Make sure you buy the matching nuts for your car.

Hello James hope you enjoyed your break and raring to go on your projects. I am a Plumber you can buy those cutting wheels at most Plumbing stores but also you can get a little bending machine to re-create those tight bends. Takes a little practice but I'm sure a man with your skills can manage that. Saying that though you made quite a tidy job of your pipes doing them by hand. The benefit of a bending machine is it makes a nice neat bend great when you are in a tight space or where the bends are visible. Like in the engine bay. I have a sykes tool for forming the flares and the same ones that you have they are handy when you have to make new ends on the pipe in situ. Anyway another great video and looking forward to seeing more.

Great helpful video! I would have changed that joint double flare on the car to a solid "MOT jointer". That is a solid connection that takes a Male flare both sides. The direct pipe to pipe fitting with double flare can work harden and crack hence the term for the other type as a MOT jointer since some stations will fail a car with that double flare type.
