Tried your recipe out for Thanksgiving, it was my first time making collard greens. They came out excellent, everyone loved them! This will be my go-to recipe from now on! Thank you so much!
Yes this is how my grandmother taught me how to make them. She’d sometimes blend in some mustard greens. I’ve always preferred them with some good thick cut bacon over anything else.
Grandmother collard greens cornbread muffins cube steak Mac cheese and n anything else some mustard thick over blend in she bacon always how make to them taught Preferred good
I tried this recipe a month ago and it was AMAZING! I usually try to take the short cut when doing greens by using Glory canned greens and then adding some other seasonings. After trying this, I can no longer go back to canned greens. I'm doing it again tomorrow with one change and that's not adding crushed red pepper flakes. My wife doesn't like spicy whereas I do so I'll do it without the red peppers. One other thing I did was keep the bacon grease and not dispose of it after browning the bacon. Other than that, this was on point!
Used to cook these every year for black history month but did things a lot different. We used a combination of collard, mustard and turnip greens. We also would cut out the “veins” in the greens cause he swore they added a bitter taste. My family at the time was also Muslim so we used smoked turkey necks instead of the bacon and they used some molasses in the pot liquor. Looking forward to try this recipe and adding some of what they taught me as well. Thank you!
I had them first when I was away in the army. When I came back to L.A. I found a nice restaurant in south L.A. It is a delicious dish. I will be making them for Thanksgiving. Thank you for the recipe. God bless you.
Hello from Texas! I've only had collard greens once in my life. A local church used to serve lunch on Fridays. It was a buffet with all kinds of foods: oxtail soup, greens, chicken fried steak, Mac n cheese ah i was in heaven! Look forward to cooking these one day soon🥰 (oh I'm hispanic so we don't really eat collard or turnp greens....or I should say they're not common in our cuisine)
I dont watch nobody but u wen it comes to this I followed your directions and it came out so good 10/10 ❤thank u so much I always wanted to make collard greens

My first time trying this and it was a hit. Cooked down more than I planned but was just enough. Packed full of flavor too. Spot on my friend thank you
i'm surprised. actually i didn't know what collard green meant after reading a news article and just looked it up here hoping to find a recipe. that's because i'm german and we call it "grünkohl" here. somehow i didn't expect it to be known in other countries as well - except for the netherlands. we like to eat it in autumn and winter. of course in germany we eat it with sausage (mettwurst). did you ever try to add some mustard? in germany you can even buy portions ready to eat with a small package of mustard. i love it. thanks for sharing the recipe.
Omg😄 My dad was from North Carolina and use to make these and chitlins😟😒We used to leave the house😄🤣😂😅 He just passed away 4 years ago and was buried back home! I'm from Boston! He would have loved your channel🙏😁

1st Lmbo! Nfr Fam. I'm still laughing tho! You know you had me at the bacon right? Then with all of that flavor at the bottom of the Dutch Oven I started to taste the Greens, lol. Looking good and delicious but most of all, you guys made it look so easy. Thank you Fam for this #SoulFoodSunday Drop!
