Hey RU-vid, today I'll show you how to make dub techno sounds on a synthesizer like the almighty Model D.
It's one of those synths that is modern, analog and versatile since you get to your point fast! And affordable if I'm bold enough to address the elephant in the studio. Dub techno to me is many things, so today I'm crossing over againg, trying to bring different elements into the mix! Enjoy and stay tuned!

I love what you're doing, but honestly, this really doesn't sound like dub techno - this is "just" techno with a detuned synth. The dub techno sound is defined by occasional (often detuned) synth stabs, drowned in reverb and delay. Dub techno is about creating a sense of space.

His example here is definitely more on the "techno" side but if you listen to a lot of classic dub techno, a lot of it actually was a lot more "technoy" too, not the super heavy reverb/delay sound you hear a lot now. It was more about a philosophy and approach to production, using track loops and mixing on the fly with heavy use of effects or mixing tricks. Plenty of dub techno throughout the years is a lot more in your face than the "standard" dub techno sound. I think people are wrong that dub techno has to have a specific sound as it's more of a methodology than anything else.

I would love to see a video where you get a pianist to jam with you for awhile where they improv on a few different synths. I miss that thick reverb juno/moog kind of stuff lol.

I think Korg actually releases very interesting stuff these days. I really like what I hear from the Minilogue XD in particular. Probably a world on its own, hehe. --- Effects are so important. For years, I told myself sounds/patches should be great on their own and tried to minimize the use of effects. But now I regard effects as the driving force. Just as with cooking where the use of herbs and spices can really push the meal into any direction. Good, great and total wreck. In music production effects also help a lot to make things more cohesive. That being said, I just started out to get better quality effects as I spent lots of money on the sources for now. Mostly drums, 909, 808, 7x7... As always, having great sources does yield better results, too. An endless rabbit hole 😂 --- Inspirational video, again! Thanks, man 🕊️

Learning a lot from your channel man... and let's not mention bald spots eh? The synth that surprised and delighted me the most recently is the Digitone. Unique sounds that can really fit the whole techno vibe, plus a kick drum that can destroy entire villages. Peace.

It’s not the lightest but I think it’s about 35KG. Thinking of splitting things up into 2 or 3 smaller cases

Cool as always. I'd say with polyphonic synth you have so much choice. The Dreadbox synths are really cool (think they might have a polyphonic one). You didn't use the Tetra for some reason in this jam. It depends what you mean with high end and poly, but the DSI Pro 3 is high end and paraphonic. Not sure if that's something you'd like but it sure would be nice to see you use it. An original Juno 6 or DSI Oberheim reissue as well as Behringer alternative all sound cool

Hmmm, I think this vid just bumped the model d up to the top of my must purchase list. Was looking at the toraiz as1 to pair with my sp-16, but this would go quite nice with my MPC.... Decisions decisions 😂

@@AnalogKitchen ended up pulling the synth trigger, got the Roland SE-02. Was so close to picking up the Model D, but found a deal a I couldn't pass up on the Roland. You never know, still might get the model d at some point 😂

Just a small bit of honest criticism and absolutely no hate meant by this but Dub techno has a slower tempting between 80 and 120 and I think you're in the 128bpm range give or take. Which is still going to fall into a more Melodic techno style. Again, no hate, love your stuff and having a ball with every video. Just a little honest criticism is all.

That isn't true. The newer dub techno is slower, but the leading artists like Furstenburg and Basic Channel all did tracks in the 120 plus range. Even Quadrant Dub is 124, and stuff like Q1.1/2 is all 128-132, and those songs literally invented the genre lol.
