Andrea passed away a few years ago, but she would usually air dry them around the house, she loved the look and smell. Sometimes she would use a dehydrator, and the best would be freeze drying, but that is expensive to set up. Hope that’s helpful! It makes me so happy to see her videos still helping people.

Dr. Christopher recommended Hawthorn Berry and Cayenne for blood pressure. It may be a good place to start.

You can mix it with water or yogurt. You can make an oil and use it on your salads. You can make a tea with the herb

I buy the herbs individually because I use them for more than one thing. You can buy them already blended for this formula from Dr. Christopher's Herb Shop, though. I just checked price wise and if you bought 1/4 pound of each ingredient at Mountain Rose Herbs (1/2 pound of Cascara Sagrada), you'd spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $50 to $60 compared to $60 for the premixed blend. Plus, you'd end up with 2 .5 pounds of mix rather than 1 pound. You can buy 1 oz. of each thing instead, so you'd end up with 10 ounces for about $20. That would still probably make 500-600 capsules. I've tried to reduce the bulk of my collection so each herb fits in my plastic quart jars so I buy accordingly. A pound of roots, berries or barks fit in a quart jar, but only a half pound of leaves will. Some herbs are very bulky. The red raspberry leaves are so fluffy that a pound of them could fill a 2-gallon bucket. Mullein and mushroom slices are the same way. Of course, if you buy things already powdered, they take up less space so a pound usually fits in my jars, but it's not as easy to use powdered herbs for teas. If you order a certain number of full pounds at Mountain Rose Herbs, you get a percentage off your order. Sometimes I'll order full pounds of everything just to get the discount and then share/sell the extra to friends. (Sometimes I just have bags tucked away that I can't fit in my jars.) This is a long way to tell you I usually order full pounds, but not always.

I forgot to say I priced Goldenseal Leaf rather than root; the root is _so_ expensive!

There are 3 sizes of capsules. Size 0 holds 500 mg, size 00 holds 735 mg and size 000 holds 1000 mg. If you buy a capsule machine, it's probably best to buy 000 size as it holds the most

I haven't tried it for that, but I've heard of people using it. Barberry and Oregon Grape Root are two herbs that have Berberine in them. If you give it a try, you'll have to share your results! I just started using Gymnema and Bitter Melon because I'd read that they lower blood sugar. I've also ordered a Vanadium/Chromium supplement for the same purpose. It's supposed to replenish your body's glucose tolerance factor.

Andrea Mills If I am not mistaken, fenugreek might lower it as well, however there are side effects for those pregnant where it could be unsafe so maybe not ideal for childbearing age women. But wouldn't hurt while nursing. I swear by fermented foods to lower levels.... I take Braggs each morning and night and it truly helps... but we are all different.

They're not standardized like commercial capsules, so there might be a slight variance from pill to pill, but they work very well.

He was the herbalist who started the School of Natural Healing, which is the school I did a correspondence course with. He's been gone for many years, but the web-site www.herballegacy.com shares a lot of his information.

Any herbs/formulas can be made into tinctures or teas rather than capsules. The main reason for capsules is convenience on a day to day basis and, yes, the taste is sometimes not good. As I understand it, you tend to get the best results from herbs by using them as a tea or tincture so if you're inclined to try that, go for it! Three herbs I've heard recommended for stress/anxiety are Kava Kava, Lemon Balm and St. John's Wort. I'm sure there are many more, but maybe that'll get you started on some research. Also, Vetiver essential oil is something someone was just telling me about for stress. Good find on the Back to Eden book! I've never read any of Jethro Kloss's work, but I see his name all the time as one of the "greats." I hope you'll share how you like it.

Andrea Mills Thank you for the recommendations for the anxiety herbs. We really want to try anything before the drugs the doctor wants to give her. They are extremely bad , plus habit forming. Its crazy what they want to hand out to a teen!As far as the book, I haven't tried anything yet. I don't know much about the author. Thanks for the help. Also, make sure your daughter is taking a good magnesium supplement. Magnesium deficiency can contribute to many mental health issues. I had been having issues with mild anxiety and it seems to be helping (although who can say for sure!). It is any easy thing to eliminate before trying stronger meds. You will have to do a little research on the best forms that the body most easily absorbs.

I've read that Lemon Balm and St. John's Wort are useful for ADD, but I don't have any personal experience with it. You could certainly give them a try. They would probably make a nice tea. You could tincture them or make them into capsules. I do think that kids like taking their herbs more when they help prepare them; it feels so grown up!
