🚨🚨🚨DISCLAIMER: This is not a promotional video. I am NOT recommending this specific BRAND of seamoss. USE A SEAMOSS of YOUR choice. At the time I did the video I only had access to this brand for demonstration purposes 😁 Read description box for ingredient list and others details. ENJOY the recipe using your own seamoss 🖤💛💚 To open the description box please tap the word "more" located below the video title.
I would love mine heated as a child. My aunt ( who made it) would always tell me it was for men. I never understood that at the time of course. I would say "but I want to be strong too" LOL. Thanks for the sweet memory!
@@JerenesEats Lol, actually, my aunt would have it with her friends in a glass w/ice and, unbeknownst to me, they would put liquor in their glasses. One day, I snuck a sip of my aunt's glass LOL. I don't remember what I thought about the taste at the time, but I don't think I cared for it too much, but when I got home, and my mother would heat it up after taking it out of the refrigerator to give some to my father, she would give me a small cup of it and that's what I fell in love with. It was never thick like porridge, but it was delicious none the less. When I make it (or my version of it) today, I just combine the meat and water from a couple of young Thai coconuts, add my sea moss, vanilla, and a pinch of ceylon cinnamon, and I can recreate that same feeling from way back when. Thanks again for this video!
That was lovely. As British Jamaican that's how my parents made it. I'm convinced that is why I'm so healthy at ahe 66 people thinks that I'm in my 30's because its a staple in my family's regimen.
My husband loves this, I want to surprise him with this drink! So thanks for the recipe! wish me luck! You are a good teacher! Love your presentation! Wishing you all the best!
I love your channel Jerene because you make it soooooo easy... I'm a top chef for my family because of channel like yours and @ morristimecooking God bless you... remember your oven jerk pork.... I made that for my birthday last year and it was a hit
So it can be a porridge too. I had to edit. I cleaned blended and boiled it. I didn’t need to add any thickening ingredients it was thick all on its own. Just wanted to add that. Thank you for making this video it was very helpful
hello, i was looking for irish moss recipe and found your channel. i liked the way in which you presented both ways of making it, i will go for the soaking method, so to make use of my blender properly lol,....subscribed now and onboard, thank you for this one in advance as i know its gonna come out boombasticly wicked!! when i make it...😋
Muchas gracias!!!! Saludos desde Lima, Perú. Tengo bastante musgo irlandés y por ti ya sé como darle a mi familia. Ya luego cuento como le fue a mi esposo jajajajaja
Sea Moss is an honest Superfood! Giving your body 92 out of the 102 minerals needs... you can't go wrong. Swing by my Canadian, Black-owned shop, and have a peak. Thank you for the AMAZING video!
I loved this from start to finish. Very informative, I could follow all the steps and you answered questions before I asked. Wish I could like 1k times.
CORRECT! If you notice, I said both at 6:54 I said both pronounciations so that viewers from different backgrounds could know what I'm talking about. The correct pronounciation is 'ICZING' but some yardies say 'ISING' when you purchase it in the West Indian stores. Just like Irish Moss where we know the correct pronounciation but many of us in Jamaica called it Irish 'MOSH' for all our life 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well, i found out about actual moss recently (outside of the tinned one) through a cousin of mine. Was checking it out for him and found it at the market, a bit expensive (cah me broke 💀) but im gonna buy and blend some with your help. Thanks for the video. My body is not as strong as it once was (for a 23 year old) hopefully this gives me back some strength
I was in the store looking for this yesterday to no avail. I'll keep looking though because I'm hungry for Irish Moss. BTW I just made your pudding recipe and it is divine. My husband said it will be even better when it cools down.
Yes! When it cools you'll get better slices. Also I keep it at room temperature for only one day. After that straight into the fridge because of the soft top. I just heat up a slice when I'm ready.
Thank you for the recipe! I did a lot of research on that brand as it's widely available in stores and I bought it once myself. FYI, it is pool grown in Pennsylvania, not wild crafted from the Caribbean 🙂
Yeah, usually I get mine from a friend who lives in St. Ann, Jamaica but it was all used up so I used what was readily available for the video. It's not something I consume daily so I'm not really worried about whether it was pool grown or not 😁 You may use your wild seamoss for this recipe just the same 😁
Are you specifically looking for Jamician gracilaria? There are tons of other places that you can get it from as well like St. Lucia, Grenade, Tanzania, Barbados, and Dominic.
I could look at it and see it's pool grown. I see it in the markets all of the time. I get mine freshly harvested from Jamaica. Btw, all good Seamoss is not only from the Caribbean. It can be also come from Asia.
This is why at around 6:20 in the video I mentioned that this is the SECOND option. There are different ways of doing this. Some folks like to boil it and consume the liquid it was boiled in WHILE some don't boil it because of their concern about loss of nutrients..
Omg, this looks soooo good. I was searching for recipes that incorporated seamoss so this is awesome. Is this for serving the day of or can it be stored in the fridge for a few days ?
I never heard of this recipe. I want to try it 😂. I should probably visit Jamaica. Madame you are Irish?. Jamaican are lovely people. And familiar to me❤
Hi, for all videos on RU-vid tap the word "more" located below the video title. This will open up the description box which has the ingredients and other details 🖤💛💚
Real seamoss does have salt but isn't excessively salty. Regarding the type of moss used in the video...this is why I left info in the description box so that viewers may use whatever moss they like and then follow the steps to make the drink.
yes real seamoss HAS SAND SALT SODIUM AND MANY OTHER MINERALS. SO IT DOES HAVE SALT LIKE EVERYTHING THAT COMES FROM THE NATURAL SEA, ,,,,,,,FROM THE SEA COMES NATURAL salt which could look like sand........ITS CALLED SEAmoss
Which is why...both methods were mentioned in the video. Some folks like to use it raw and some folks like to boil it and drink the liquid it is boiled in.
@@JerenesEats oh I feel you. Thx for responding so sooon. Well I only plan on using it to drink and I use flaxseed in my hair anyway so I will do them together. Btw ur vid is very informative. I never realize flaxseed is the same linseed my pops gave me as a child. P.s I hated it haha. But I will try it again.
Thanks! 1.Yes you definitely can do that to make them softer. 2. Yes you most definitely can. Here's the vegetarian version as well ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UKwJAyIFp-Y.html
I’m Jamaican this how my family make it in Jamaica. Good for women & man stamina, him will broke your back out & last all night in a bed. Don’t take this simply
😁 The brand in the video is NOT the ideal. However it is what was available. Get seamoss from a good supplier and you can follow the recipe just the same. ONE LOVE
@@JerenesEats ONE LOVE❤️🔥 I waited about 30 minutes for it to soak up the water but I don’t know if i should try boil it or wait, do you recommend the boiling method over the blender, are there any nutritional benefits to either one?
@@fwalyfe4661 It's a matter of preference. However some seamoss experts prefer to just blend to preserve nutrients. While some do say if you're consuming the boiling liquid you will still get some of the nutritional benefit.
@@JerenesEats after boiling the moss I jarred it all up and now I’m left with 3 jars full of this gel although it’s a little more watery, how long can I store this for do you reckon and how should I store it also?
Hi! Possibly, but I've never bothered to buy it. Here is my Vegan version of this drink 👉➡️ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UKwJAyIFp-Y.html
