There sure is! I've done close to that many times, I think they're indestructible for the most part haha except of course for heat and contamination.

I love Kombucha, but it doesn't me. I wish I could find away to drink it without making a run for the bathroom. I am so glad to found your channel. Came over from The Kneady Homesteader.

Could it be that you need to introduce it slowly? If your body is not used to it that can happen. Welcome!!

I second introducing it slowly. Start with 4-8 oz at a time and see how it sits with you

I make water kifer which is basically the same thing you are doing here with the whey. I always would use my canned cranberry juice and pineapple juice. The pineapple juice was VERY active and you blow the tops when you open them. The best way to avoid this is to open the bottles a couple times a day to prevent "Old Faithful" from bursting out. I have the stains on my ceiling to prove it. lol

For sure, pineapple has tons of sugar so it’s super active. I’ve made water kefir in the past but I really don’t care for it

I know you posted this video a couple years ago, but that scoby or starter liquid you set aside is perfect for your new batches! That's what makes a good healthy kombucha. The pellicle mats aren't that important in the brewing process. They're just a byproduct.

I’ve never heard the term pellicle mat so I had to google it. What I’m reading says it is the scoby so I’m not sure what you mean
@amandamckay6857
@amandamckay6857 2 года назад
@@FermentedHomestead the scoby is actually the liquid, not the leathery thing it makes. The liquid is the important part in kombucha. I usually keep a jar of really strong, vinegary scoby liquid to make my new batches and just feed it by replacing what I use with fresh sweetened black tea when i use anything out of it. I throw away the pellicles when it gets too thick
@shalamarjoe3699

@@amandamckay6857 That is not correct. A SCOBY is a cellulose mat that houses the bacteria and yeast cultures that turn sweet tea into kombucha. Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria & Yeast.=SCOBY. A pellicle is just one name that people call them, among others. The liquid IS the Kombucha.

Oh my goodness Anna. I have to do this. Do you have a video on how to start the fermentation process, what's a Scoby? And what exactly we need to make Kambocha?
