My husband & I started dating at the age of 18. We dated for 4 years. We’ve now been married almost 41 years now. We’re both in our early 60’s, ready to retire soon!!!😃 Life has had its challenges & moments, including many…. Medical problems, but we still LOVE each other & are still going strong, through the Grace of God!!! ✝️🙏🕊️💜✝️ It is…important to be THOUGHTFUL of the other person & their needs!!! It’s crucial for both individuals. Thank you for sharing your amazing advice!!!

My top three are: 1. Security. Don't make me think our relationship is something it's not. Is it you and I against the world or not? Do you know the concept of loyalty? I do. 2. Respect. It needs to be mutual 3. Empathy and Affection are tied

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- I LOVE hearing stories about you and your wife. In some strange way, the little kid in me soaks it in. She loves to know that there are parents who love each other like that. It’s precious.

I'd like to add one more important point to this wonderful list. *Forgiveness: When we overcome suffering, we gain a more mature understanding of what it means to be humble, courageous, and loving.. We may be moved to create an atmosphere of forgiveness in our homes, to help our partner who’ve been harmed overcome their suffering, or to protect our families from a cycle of hatred and violence. All of these choices can lighten the heart and bring joy to one’s life. Before you forgive others, you must forgive yourself first. ♥️

Great video for knowing our needs and ensuring they're all met in a relationship, if something is missing you might feel resentful to your partner. Ten relational needs we all have, know how to communicate to your partner what needs aren't being met. 1. Acceptance 2. Approval 3. Attention 4. Comfort 5. Encouragement 6. Respect 7. Security 8. Support You need to listen to the video to know and understand how each of those needs looks like in a relationship and how you can show those needs. Thank you for this video.

Romance, is another need in relationships. It's one that I thought mostly women sought after, but later learned men do, too! Romantic date nights. :) Mat, I appreciate your videos and love hearing how you and Irene have navigated through expectations respectfully and lovingly in your marriage.

Thanks Matt for theses great tips and also the examples of how to ask for our needs to be met. I was dating a guy and shared some food that I made. Instead of appreciating my effort and gesture, all he did was to compare it to his mom’s cooking and criticise the food saying he’s just being honest. Needless to say it was a turn off! 😅

Have him make that Mom's-food that he craves, and share the cooking/learning time together. You will learn about him, learn a new skill that pleases him, and bond in the kitchen. Tell him how happy you are that he shares his skills and his life experiences (then and now) with you.

@@Olga8888 Thank you for helping me see that. I realised on reflection that I still had resentment over this small interaction! And this has helped me see it, see the perspective you’ve pointed to and release! 🙏🏽

Matt, I truly appreciate you and the gifts that you share. This is by far the best one yet. I would so appreciate the list in printed form so that I can put it to my memory bank and share as needed. It makes so much more sense to me now that you have brought this to light why we get upset and angry and do not know how to share why we are feeling the way we are. We need to make ourselves aware of these kinds of things as parents so we can teach them to our children as well so we all have better relationships and know how to express our feelings and needs better. This is so incredible. Thank you so very much!

Great insights! As a fellow dating coach, I completely resonate with the importance of understanding and fulfilling one's needs in a relationship. The 10 relational needs you've outlined are spot on, and your examples make it relatable. It's refreshing to see such valuable content that empowers women in the dating world. Keep up the fantastic work!

I love your videos Mat. This one was also adorable. I would like to request to enhance one more topic called interpersonal sensitivity amongst couple during hang outs in public as a couple. How long can one handle the offending statements passed on by the partner just to make jokes or just for entertainment? How long another person can ignore? How about if in spite of conveying the hurtful things, partner keeps doing the same just to prove righteousness to his/her being. Would you mind spreading a bit of awareness on this topic.

You don’t control love. If it doesn’t last forever, it wasn’t love. My wife left me for a woman, 11 years ago. I couldn’t stop loving her if I wanted to

That sucks! It’s also likely though that she loved you even for part of the time she was with you, but she/her needs changed.. which as you say is not within our control.. In my own experience I found love wasn’t enough to sustain a long term relationship..other factors are involved. I guess the tips Matt’s sharing may not make love or a relationship last forever but it will surely help to prolong the relationship in healthy ways.

Your right, I believe in unconditional love, even if that person isn’t in your life, your not going to stop caring for them, especially if you weren’t the one to leave, but I think this was valuable, now we can look over our past relationships, and see what didn’t work in that relationship, and also see what was missing, so that future relationships will work better 🫶
