If you take the meat and form it into a log a little smaller than the tube then you can fill it faster than spoon full by spoon full.

Marie, I have the second batch going now. I am using the Pit Boss Pro Series vertical series, 175 degrees. First batch was (is) really good, nice color and hickory smoke flavor, the second batch (going now) is kicked up a bit with more heat (spices). Thank you for sharing your videos with us, I am really new to the pellet smoker, have a pellet grill and a charcoal grill (grill poor) but this smoker is the bomb, it has held 175 degrees not for 6 hours solid. Be good and stay safe. Later

Bring the plunger to the end and retract it about 3 inches , pack it , then pull it back 3 inches , repack and continue till full . You won’t have all those air pockets

Ground beef is awesome, my kids love it. Usually use 93/7 beef or deer for jerky. I started making a bunch of this so getting a decent made jerky gun is really nice. The surprising thing to me is ground jerky is still a bit chewy, doesn't just fall apart like one would think.

Hey Mazie from the South Carolina Coast. First time watching. Great vid ( besides the Steelers sign ) haha Go Giants.( yea I know they stink this year ) haha Just got a dehydrator and jerky gun. I have done top round sliced thin but going to try the ground beef option. I am also a big BBQ guy. Have smokers and charcoal grills for that. Will check out your other vids...Thanks

Sorry if someone already asked this. What temp did you start with? You did you raised it to 180° but I didn't hear the starting temp.

I started making deer jerky over 30 years ago I don't get to sit in the woods as much as I would like to anymore. So sometimes I get burger from Walmart loveliness stuff I can find

If the kit you're using comes with the curing agent you shouldn't have to refrigerate it. And it should last a long time. Did your kit say you have to refrigerate it? I know when I've dehydrated beef jerky using salt or soy sauce as the cure spice, it would last in Ziploc bags for a long time no refrigeration required. And if we vacuum seal it, it lasts even longer.

I've made a couple batches of jerky first bite is Pleasant after that flavor isn't that good texture is terrible it's a dry mushy how do you get it to be good

Hmm I haven’t had that issue, if anything my jerky gets harder. I do keep it in the fridge. Sorry I don’t have a better answer!

Do you actually have to use a smoker or can you just put it in a dehydrator?

You can do either. Or like I do both. My smoker only goes as low as 180 so I run them at 180 with the door cracked for about 2 hours then dehydrate them.

So my my cure says wrap and cure for at least 4hrs before drying or smoking. What’s the difference in smoking right away?

Are you using the Pit Boss brand or something else? I would definitely do what your box says. For the kind I made it didn't need that cure time.

As a 50 year fan of the Dallas Cowboys I see steelers CHUMPS Drive, lol. Might could buy that meat caulk gun for alternative to regular beef jerky on ol' Weber kettle. Nice recipe 'n' details. Horns Up & GO COWBOYS GO!!!!!!

I’m sorry. I couldn’t finish watching. Seeing that the seasoning and cure wasn’t completely mixed throughout the meat and that the meat wasn’t allowed to sit covered in the fridge to allow the meat time to cure kind of gave me anxiety.
