Hi Elly, this tutorial inspired me to make my first batch of soap with leftover oils. The soaps had a whitish film on top and some grainy crystals - probably lye that wasn’t dissolved. I cooked them up today, 2 days after the initial pour, and am really happy with the cooking. I can understand how hot process can be relaxing. The only challenge was guessing how much extra water to add to the pot. For my small 3-bar batch, which is a mild cleansing soap, I added teaspoons of distilled water. Thank you very much for the tutorials!

Great video Elly, good to see the process of fixing the issue. It made me realise I had a similar thing happen about a year and a half ago with pure coconut oil cleaning soaps, It seemed to have traced enough before I reached for the stick blender so I went ahead and poured it. It was lye heavy for about 10-12 days then seemed to have sorted it self out eventually. I didn't realise it was the lack of blending and emulsion. Thanks Elly for another great video 🙏🙏🙏

This was super informative!!!! I made soap a long time ago and was pretty green at it. I just "did" it without really knowing much science behind it. You have opened my eyes to a lot of my mistakes!!!!!!!! My fav was just plain coconut oil soap!

I loved this video Elly & all of them. Thanks for your clear guidance on how to salvage a batch; have never tried hot process soap making but am inspired to give it a go. Also, have never thought to use the grams column in soapcalc 🙃 I enjoy learning from you so much, thank you 😀

Oh, I'm glad I watched this before trying to make my soap, I was wondering if I could get away with not using my stick blender. Apparently, better use it! Thank you for posting it!

I was so glad that this all happened because I learned a lot about how to fix a problem. At first I had wondered if you had put too much castor oil in, I have done that before and it’s turned out grainy. I have never done a hot process soap before and have been making soap for over 40 years. You inspired me to try doing a batch now thank you for your time! Donna in Panama City Florida

Hi Elly thank you so so much for everything you do all the way from Namibia. I tried your 100% coconut oil soap and it worked wonders. I'm having just sunflower oil and a lotle bit of coconut and olive oil..I'm going to pause and try to really follow your instructions to create a soap. I'm a very much newbie but my first ever soap was a big success. Thank you from the bottom of mu heart.

Thank you for sharing. As a beginner, I need to learn as much as possible. Many vlogs just show you how to make it. I need the "what if" of soap making. I'm sure it happens to everyone from time to time so I appreciate your honesty. Best wishes
