How to Max Out Your Characters Stats Fast!! - Final Fantasy VII 

Thank you once again. Here are some added tips I have found through experience: Against the Serpent (Mind Source monster) I found that I have to Attack the Serpent once with another character, Morph with another that's not Yuffie (to inflict some non-fatal damage), and then wait for Serpent to Aqualung or Huge Tidal Wave to kill Yuffie. Otherwise, Serpent does Viper Breath over and over on the party-member with the highest HP (I think). It's much easier against Unknown 3 (Magic Source monster). Whack Unknown 3 once with a character that's not Yuffie first because Yuffie can't Morph it in one hit. Another commenter said to use a Mastered Cover Materia on Yuffie. Great advice.

Thank you for your strategy. Its easy to set up. I had yuffie all lucked out though so i used vincent instead. I used the laser enemy skill to lower the hp of the unknown 3 and for the serpent i used the goblin punch & magical breath. Thank you again for posting this video.

Glad to see you keep making tutorials! :) Dexterity is used for speed but also, for the allies, accuracy and evasion. Luck is used for critical hit and, for the allies, extra physical dodge chance (it even overrides Cover, Slipel, etc.) and extra physical hit chance. Nothing else. Luck does nothing special with Death Blow. _"Sometimes it runs out of power so you have to kill it and try again."_ Ethers, etc. can target enemies too. :p

You can also Final Attack link with Revive materia when leveled up to max and Yuffie will cast 4 times, which giving you more time to use the w-item glitch.

Small tip to add, if you are in fallen plane you can kill the green squids they drop dazers easy to get a single dazer if you run out of single greens so you don’t have to make another trip.

FYI, if you submit the W-item use but the battle ends, you will be refunded both of the items. So when doing the setup to have Yuffie die and cast a bunch of stuff, just make sure to confirm the second W-item use before she finishes and the battle ends, and you'll get your greens back. This way you can do both of those sources for all characters with just 1 greens. No restock trips. You can also do both speed and luck at the same times sometimes because you get a 3 enemy group with both of the types in it. Just morph one, make 99, then morph the other and make another 99, just have two different greens at the top of items. The setup for magic sources is easy -- just give Yuffie a cover and then PD her after hitting once for 9999 and she'll die almost instantly. The setup for mind sources is more annoying. Serpents will only spam their single target attack at whoever has the highest HP which won't be Yuffie if using HPMP unless the Serpent's health is below 8 times 10% of the party's average HP. I've made this super consistent by letting Yuffie be dead at the start, hitting the Serpent once for 9999, then having one character use W-Item PD on Yuffie and Megalixer to fully heal everyone. This puts the Serpent in range to use Aqualung on its next attack, which will kill Yuffie and trigger the final attack sequence, letting you use W-Item on your other character to dupe the sources.

So W-item bug has many uses...great video!!

Thanks for the tutorial, man. I had heard there was a way to w-item trick sources before. Seeing how to do it visually was very helpful. Grinding manually to max my stats back in the day in the Crashed Gelnika took FOREVER lol.

Having played the OG many times i recently re-discovered my love for this game thanks to the 7th Heaven Mod Manager on PC. And although fairly avid in the game and it's secrets and mechanics there's still new stuff i learn like the propeller trick in the Speed Square. So much love for this game

Love this game had my 1st copy on a PS 1. I also had it for PSP, PS3, Vita and now my PS4. I'm amazed how Ppl still find new tricks along with those many other. " I just never noticed that before" Moment's. I have to say. Like the excitement the first time I played this game on PS1. To the excitement I got the very moment I got the Gold Chocobo on my PS4 version. Still a amazing game.

Man this game has been out forever and I still learn something new.

You make using your single items and restocking them sound like a walk in the park. You don't complain about how it's like a little trek to get the greens and go back, you just explain that's what must be done. The love you have for this game shows in the tone of your voice. I'm just stopping myself with the Power/Guard Sources. I don't care to break the other stats aside from Magic and Spirit, but having a tough time justifying the time to spend doing that.

Nice one... Morphing for just once is tough.... I used the wrecked ship. Quatra on demi then morph.

I like how he shows that barret have 92 str and after +99 strength later it becomes... BOOM, 191 basic math!

These are ingenious workarounds to the w-item exploit's limitations and my favorite aspect is that they were always part of the system; we simply didn't think of them back in the day.

Omg that final attack morph quadra magic combo is genius. I made the stupid mistake of selling all my spare materia after getting 3 copies of each master materia, so I'm stuck killing the enemies one at a time because I don't have my morph materia anymore lol

I was in the process of maxing my stats and realized that the game isn't hard enough to even need to do it. I maxed a few of them but that was enough for me to take down emerald and ruby weapon. Also, those dazers come in real handy.

This is great, thanks. Although, I would argue that you wouldn't need your stats to be this high unless you were just trying to max out a play through, but even still, it's probably easier to just beat Emerald weapon for the Master materia.

If you max Yuffies luck early and struggle to get hit, give her a maxed cover materia and she will take the hits for cloud n cid

i always got my power sources from the heavy tanks (1600hp) in melted down reactor area in Gongaga early on, but i enjoyed the long grind to max out a characters early on.

Awesome vid. This worked on steam version too. This also works with items like potion and antidote, this way you can sock on a larger variety of items when you go in.

That's crazy u can choose which magic to use from the master materia by having that magic equipped with final attack I didn't know that was possible...I'm glad I'm buying the switch version...just gonna be a pain to grind to get the materia at the gold saucer lol

One tip for the last two annoying sources is that you can fill yuffie with materia that lowers her HP like ultima, you could get her down to 10 HP

The Way i did it. Gelnika, Yuffie Konformer, Morph (around the world) and in a few days everyone is Max stats. I did Gelnika first because it was the first source i found for those items. But the item glitch is way faster. Still i am amazed how few ppl back then knew how to make use of yuffie konformer weapon and her morph ability. Also. DAMN im old.....

3:08 power source via morph + mega all materia in weapon not sure if placing mega all materia in armor would prevent you from morphing all enemies?

This is awesome but how can you do this without the Master Magic Materia? You mentioned that this would help with Ruby/Emerald weapon but don't you need to draft them to get the Master Magic Materia in the first place? What would be your final material loadout without any master materials?

Laneface there is a glitch for the power source at the make reactor in niebelheim. Save at the save crystal before the reactor and then go through the door to the reactor and walk along the wall where you are hidden from view and you encounter that specific enemy. Might need to be done with times 3 speed on. I got a battle with them every time I've done that so far. It might not work I may have just been lucky

@Laneface. I'm new to Final Fantasy VII and I'm wondering if this trick works on all platforms (Playstation, PC, Steam, etc) or is it platform-specific?

I just notice that the enemy still standing after recieved 3000+ damage... is the spawn grow with you or the glitch effecting it??

For your example, can I equip shield materia instead of master magic linked with quadra magic? Can it be done that way?

Hello, thanks I maxed all the characters the strength, luck and vitality. But for the rest I don't have that materia to combine with the morph. My question is, for the rest of the stat maxing, is it some other enemies that can gain sources the same as the one for strength, vitality and luck?

For Unknown3 moster (magic source), Yuffie's setup should be final atk-morph, 3 final atk paired with revive on her Conformer weapon, in her armor, another revive materia paired with quadra materia and hp mp swap materia. Let one of your party attack with 9999 dmg, then wait for it to attack Yuffie mostly magic bolt2 or slap atk, the process of duplication starts. For the serpent (mind source) still the same setup with Yuffie, let one of your party hit 9999 dmg, wait for it to use aqualung and start the duplication. Sometimes while waiting with the serpent to cast aqualung it will exhaust all of its mp, just use some turbo ether to replenish its mp to cast it. As long as you don't max her luck yet for 255, Yuffie will still get hit by those monsters. Mind and magic source are a little bit tricky to do with, but this setup certainly works as long as you don't mess up your duplication to reach 99 stocks.

After playing as a child all those years ago, I replayed and made a point of getting the platinum trophy (got it today 🏆) literally the first game I played on PS5.. what a game!!

Gameshark & a Codebreaker has always done it for me. Been doing it for years and no glitches or crashes. I max out everything and have all materia & weapons at beginning of game. But back in 1997 I played and beat the game without cheating, took 5 whole months to do so to have it all.

can I add another ( final attack + shield ) combination to pospose the end of the battle?

So I've heard that 255 is only the max the screen can display, but your stats are actually still counted all the way to 510, as the game does use defense stats beyond this cap (Ruby, max Safer, and that 2-headed thing in the Shinra basement), as well as why 4 is the hero drink cap (it takes 4 additions of 30% from 255 to reach 510). Ironically I imagine the way to test that would be a very weak weapon using Morph from the back row on a high defense enemy.

Could totally use this glitch for duplicating weapons using throw as well, would make getting gil early super easy

Why not final attack knights of the round? Will it not go off if the enemy is already dead?
