Many Final Fantasy 7 players already know that the W-Item materia (aquired on disk 2), is glitched. This means usable items in battle (such as megalixirs) can easily be duplicated to the cap of 99 without any real effort required.
Not everbody knows that there are more advanced forms of this technique that allow the player to duplicate many non-battle usable items too! Today, I show you how combining the Morph materia with W-Item and a few Chocobo greens can allow us to copy the awesome Source items from enemies (up to 99 per battle). In this episode we will be focusing on Power Sources.
I recommened you have Yuffie with the Conformer weapon (since it does not do reduced damage when Morphing).

Hey fuzz! Allen from Indiana here, love your tips. You're a "go to" for me. Just wanted to give you a heads up on this one in particular. When going after the power source, you only need 2 items with 1 item each. If you make the 1st single item you use a bird wing and use the other single item to activate the glitch, you'll have a new space for another bird wing you can retrieve from a Zu bird (which is also in the same area) by morphing it and getting your single bird wing back and then do your item glitch all over again. You'd never have to leave the area..

Yo, thanks a million on this! Made Tonberry morphing much easier. 4atks for 9999dmg, 1 Fire3 spell(roughly 3000dmg) and it's ready to morph before it even gets to your party members. 👍

Here are some detailed instructions for those who might have trouble getting this to work (like I did 😂): 1. Have ZERO units of the source you want to farm. It won't work if you have 1 or more. 2. Have 1 unit of any consumable item at the top of your item list (it has to be consumable during mid fight). You can have empty spaces bellow it; doesn't matter. 3. In mid fight, morph an enemy into a source. 4. Before the enemy has been morphed into a source, use w-item with another character and use the consumable item but don't trigger the second item yet. 5. Wait for the source to appear at the top of your inventory. If it doesn't, that's because you already had that source in your inventory. 6. Once the source pops up, select another consumable and cancel. You will see that the source increases by 1 each time. 7. Repeat point 6 till you reach 99 sources. Btw, I suggest you use the wait ATB mode to make things easier. The only places where you can apply this method are: - M. Nibel: Screamer gives Power Sources. - Mideel Area: Spiral gives Guard Sources. - Sunken Gelnika: Poodler morphs into Speed Sources and Bad Rap into Luck Sources. If you see them together, you can get 99 sources of both types in a single battle. There is a second method, a tiny bit more complicated, to farm Magic sources from morphing 8 eye at Battle Square (Gold Saucer). - You need Yuffi with this setup: Conformer weapon, counter support materia linked to morph, w-item command materia and any spell or enemy skill to sleep an opponent. - Enrole on a regular battle with Yuffi. - Be lucky enough to encounter the 8-eye monsters (you have like a 20% chance of seeing it after the second fight). - Use any sleep spell (like the enemy skill "Frog Song"). - As soon as you can cast w-item (right after the other 8-eye is making his move), do step 4 from the previous explanation. - Wait for the 8-eye that just attacked you to morph into a Magic Source. - Now do step 6 and 7. To farm Mind Sources you have to do a much trickier strategy against the Serpent in Sunken Gelnika. Search for videos on youtube on how to execute it. The one that I like the most is the one where you start the fight with a dead teammate. That makes things easier. Best of luck! 😄👍

Try using a potion instead a green, works for me. The W-Item glitched worked for me on my first playthrough, but it wasn't working for me recently, until I switched over to using a potion instead of a green. Hope that help.

You can maintain unlimited burn items by morphing sonic speed into speed drinks in the same area. Keeps you from running back out for more greens

Best area for power sources is Mt. Nibel, particulary the reactor, just run circles in front of reactor, the highest spawn rate. On the side note, you can use sources after the stat in maxed, about 50 or so in every char. That goes for every stat

@AcquiredCents not that I saw, once you up the strength Stat to Max, you'll see about 6k - 7k damage, it's only when you get ultimate weapon you'll do 9,999 damage. FFX was and still is fun, I went thru sphere grid there too lol. I play it occasionally too(still have it) :)

Hey brand new subscriber here. I wish I had info like this in 98 when i first beat the game but I got my son the ps2 cause he's only 5 and I played ff7 over again. Original game with books and everything! I paid 30 bucks for it but I have defeated all the weapons, did all the side quest and now Im trying to do these w-item tricks before beating sephiroth! Thanks for the info. You've made this go around so much more exciting

Couple things to keep in mind.... make sure to equip ribbons on all characters if you can, so no bullshiit ailments interrupt the process. Also, go into your config and put ATB to wait. after selecting morph, and choosing which enemey to use it on, go into your w-item, selecting the green to use and cast it on an opponent, and then put your cursor over the Next green, and after the morph when you see the source appear in your inventory, THEN select the green so it shows to pick which enemy, then cancel. It can be confusing, but once you figure it out its no prob.

If you have enough high level materia, barret can outdamage yuffie pretty easily whilst morphing with his missing score. Damage modifiers affect morph. You can take advantage of this as early as disc 1 and tifa's powersoul. I equip a bunch of HP plus on her and put her in critical HP. You can cast death sentence on her and pretty much one shot heavy tanks by gongaga reactor with morph.

THIS One Is ALSO A MUST As There's ONLY FEW ENEMIES In The Game That USE This Enemy Skill(Though It's Not Missable!)! This One Is Also A MUST-VIDEO! 2. This One Is Associated With The "Steal Trick" To Duplicating WEAPONS/ARMOR/ACCESSORIES, But Is DONE A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY And Relies A LITTLE On LUCK. Remember Those Vice Enemies In Sector 5 That Can STEAL Off YOU? Well, Let's SEE IF I Can BREAK DOWN The TECHNIQUE AND Make It EASY To Understand: 1. Like BEFORE, Have W-Item On The ONE Your Gonna Do The ADVANCED W-Item Trick You Did On The TURKS. 2. You MUST Have BOTH VICES ALIVE For This To WORK, Otherwise You Cannot Do It. There Is A VIDEO Of This Trick On YT, And I THINK Lomax Mentioned Doing A Video On This Trick As Well, His Was Just A TINY BIT Different But STILL SIMILAR. Also With The Trick In This Video, You Can Do The SAME With Guard Sources From Bagnadranas In Mt Corel Or "Spirals" On The Grass Plains And Dirt Plains Near Mideel, And Luck Sources And Speed Sources With Bad Raps And Poodlers In The Sunken Gelnika. :D

I don't know if the uploader will see this but it's worth a shot. I've watched a few of your videos now and, I have to confess that while I haven't seen what you look like, whenever I hear your commentary I visualize Dr Ashford from Resident Evil. Wicked! I'm really glad you've got these techniques down. I hope the Advanced Morph Glitch doesn't beat you. If you can do that, you can do anything. I really don't like this method though. When you're in the Gelnika, you'll be coming up against enemies that morph into these items over and over. You'll find you keep running into enemies that you just kill because they're useless. This method ends up being a waste of time. It's good practice though. I totally agree that Power Sources are the first that you should obtain. It's quite important that you don't give Evade Sources to Yuffie though. It will frustrate the Advanced Method if you do.

Hi Fuzz. Nice video. Even though you can keep giving the character sources after reaching 255 there is actually no further practical increase in attack power. The extra sources are the unused stat spaces you would normally get from level-ups. Certainly doesn't have any negative effects though.

@@Lomaxient Hi. There was a lot of investigation done a few years ago discussed on the GameFAQs board. People with far greater knowledge than I stated that (at level 99) the 255 stat as indicated was the maximum. This was borne out by many empirical tests. I myself tested this and can confirm but I encourage anyone to check for themselves. Happy New Year to you and Fuzz by the way!

This is not the fastest method to do this. You do not need the conformer, you don't need the dummy items either. 1. you need 1 potion or other useable item in slot 1. 2. you need a source item in slot 2. 3. you morph a enemy with that source item. 4. during the morph you do the W-item trick, now the same thing happened that happened in your case. Conformer just makes it a bit easier to morph that is all. If you can rng manip, you can have a source stolen from you, and then use w-item to dupiclate that. Speedruns used to do that.

You did not explain this clearly enough. You said you Morph an enemy with that Source item -- do you mean the enemy being Morphed into a Source must Morph into the same Source that is supposed to be in Slot 2? I just had a hard time following this.

This no longer works im afraid, it just duplicates the green. I have tested it by having already selected a green when the source appears in inventory and just having the w item inventory open. It doesn't do this on the PS5 PSN version.

No. You only need a decent setup to avoid the enemy's annoyances. I suggest having Ribbons. I've just wrote a long ass explanation on how to do this. Check it out if you are having issues.

@@kapriseedwards9687 You can morph Ho-chu on Battle Square (very easy with Yuffi's Conformer) or Master Tonberry at the Northern Cave (not to be confused with Tonberry, which can be found in the Battle Square but does not turn into a ribbon if you morph it).

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but when I try to use the W item while Yuffie is morphing, the power source doesn’t appear first! Help (?)

The problem I had when doing the W-Item glitch was this: I would command Yuffie to Morph I would then switch to W-Item I'd select my First Item (To empty the Inventory Slot) (This part!!) I'd *select* my Second Item and choose who to use it on so that when that first slot filled with the Source, I'd be ready to start duplicating it right when it appeared. No. This is the most unexplained part of this glitch. After selecting the first Item simply hover the cursor over the second item. Allow the Source to fill the first slot after using Morph. Then after the Source appears in the empty slot do you start actually selecting the second Item and spam Select/Cancel on the item. Hope this helped! It was the reason I failed Source Farming the last time I attempted to learn.

W-Item by itself can only duplicate battle items (such as elixirs), where as the stat boosting sources cannot be used in battle. By combining Morph with W-Item you can duplicate a whole load of other items you would not have been able to otherwise.

I wouldn't do it. It's basically the same as skipping battles afterwards. I only farmed sources for a few hours in this and Cloud was doing 9k plus damage with his ultimate weapon and Yuffie was breaking the damage cap technically with double cut doing 18k damage most times. It made the final boss battles only last a few seconds 😭

@@justinmuriiphz4861, wait until it shows the new item in your first slot. So if your going for power sources, morph, and wait umtil it appears in your dummy slot. Then do the trick
