The "customer"... wanted you to fill the body lines... with Bondo... on the hood... that gets hot... then cold... and slammed... I'd love to see a recent picture of that job.
You should seriously remove this video...Fiber glassing over slightly sanded clear coat, using body filler to fill up deep body lines, sanding the primer with a scuffing sponge rather than blocking by hand..And worst of all you can't even mix body filler properly! This is why so many panel shops have such a bad reputation and ruin it for the rest of us.
End result was a good looking scoop, why did you go through all that trouble if it was not going to be functional? Good job regardless,I would of just made it fuctional, helps dissapate all that engine heat...good video!!!
people lie on their titles just to get a view ....the title is how to mold a scoop not how to improve looks but yeah its great stuff i finally see ....good video....
WOW!!! I learned something from this video DON'T take any of my vehicles anywhere near your shop. I lost count trying to keep up with the mistakes that were made from the very beginning. Dont know how many brain cells died watching this
lol, i purchased the exact Westin large hood scoop for $60 at Summit Racing in Nevada... all i did was peel and stick it on, polish it up with Meguiar Final Destination and it was ready in under an hour and gorgeous... i could see doing all this work if the hood scoop was functional... its just an Ornament decoration... but to each his own... he did a good job at what he wanted to do... anyways... the beat goes on........even though he forgot to put mesh in the scoop intake...
I just found this, wow....I don't know what to do, laugh or giggle like the other 33448765278 people that has seen this? I'm flying 30tho feet in the air on my home and can't stop laughing lol. What you have seen, can not be unseen.
lol you changed a dodge hood to a wrx..congratz!lol (dont get me wrong i love my wrx) i actually flinched when you started sanding on the snazzy newish hood ha. nice finished work tho and good video flow for tutorial
i would say a few words but i wont. i think alot of you had already said it. i live in hawaii and believe it or not you may think we are dumb in body work but this would be a waste of time for me to do on my truck. im no out there for only looks. im out there for looks and the performance, if i am going to spend that much money for paint, bondo, glue, resin, and fiberglass not to mention the time and effort, yea i would make it work for what it is made for...PERFORMANCE.
you never pt any bonding agent on a painted surface, the hood should have been bare metal and the adhesive would be placed between the scoop and hood bult up with fiberglass and sanded and refilled with fiberglass and then duraglass and very little filler, and a hood still might not last a very long time because of flex ,heat and slamming the hood
great job fellas!! although there are others that do it other ways ,but cant see why they get so pissy about it ,a good job well done, have seen allot worse .. cheers
i wouldnt let this guy wash my car, much less do a hood scoop......might have just as well made the entire scoop out of bondo and thrown it at the hood from 12 feet away
Man you created so much extra work for yourself you could of even masked of the area where your applying fibreglass etc anyway it's all about learning I've seen on youtube different ways even using reofill to attach scoop to bonnet then feather out with bodyfiller also wouldn't this cause air pockets between the scoop and where you have applied fibreglass sheets and wouldn't it eventually crack
Please tell me this video is a joke? i wouldnt do this "quality" of work to my worst enemy's car lol " smooth as glass" if glass has hell of ripples then yes he nailed it haha. i dont normally comment on videos but this was almost unreal lol.
I dont get it? with all that time you spent doing that work, why didn't you at least cut out the under part and make that scoop do something useful. And if you where just going for the looks, I think its easier to just paint the scoop and then glue it to the scoop or use that real thin double sided tape. IDK I think u could have done alot better. But good job on the paint. It looks good, and smooth for real. You should put some black grill on the front under lip if you arent gonna cut the hole out. Like that it looks like is there for something.
the only reason this guy didn't take the video down with all the comments that are being is because he died shortly after making a rama wearing nothing but a bandana well breathing in all this stuff! Step one for all the resin I own on the hood, Step 2 poor all the pancake mix, ( body filler) I own on the hood, step 3 cook till done
"And then" you go on your 1st ride and watch the scoop fly off the hood. You could have elimited 5 unnecessary steps. Had you cut the hood and out the scoop on from the inside. So it doesn't crack and fly off. Not to mention, all of that filler that has absolutely no tooth and bite, because you overlapped on clear coat and paint.
