About Nicholeen Peck
========================
Despite your best efforts at raising children, is your family dysfunctional? Do your children set the rules and have control of your home instead of you? Are you looking for parenting skills that will help you create a united, happy family?
Then meet Nicholeen Peck, one of the world’s most effective parenting experts. Whether you want to fix child behavioral issues, create more unity in the home, or simply strengthen your family relationships, her proven system - Teaching Self-Government - can help you turn chaos into calm.
"People are starving for help to save their families," says Nicholeen.
Since 1999, her seminars, workshops, one-on-one training sessions, parenting videos and books have helped thousands of families worldwide regain peace, be happy and maintain unity in their home. The secret? Learning how to use effective family systems based on parenting that’s deliberate and pro-active (instead of reactive). It all starts with the principles of self-government. If you’re a family of faith, you’ll especially love how your faith and values can be woven into her parenting system.
In 2009, Nicholeen and her husband starred in the BBC reality TV show, “The World’s Strictest Parents” (watch here: bit.do/StrictestParents). She became an overnight sensation by turning around two out-of-control teenagers from England after just one week - without shouting, threats or manipulation. Her amazing success comes from the positive parenting techniques of using calmness, effective communication and principles of self-government.

I'm watching this because my younger brother is incredibly lazy, so much so that my parents worry that he won't be able to live as an adult. The thing is he has mild autism, so they've been going easy on him and coddling him his entire life. But now he's almost an adult and he can do so little. He always had the lightest if any punishment, usually my parents threaten to ground him but then end up not following through with it on multiple occasions. He has the least amount of chores which he only does once a week, while I and the rest of my siblings do everything else. All he ever does is complain, nothing is ever his fault. He never wants to work and will half ass it. I'm mad at my parents. Because they never make him work or discipline him. He is in highschool and on the first day of school he decided he wasn't going and refused to leave his bed making him miss his bus, while my parents yelled and cried trying to get him to leave while he blatantly ignored them. I'm starting to resent him, he's rude and ungrateful, and always asking me for money. I gave him 12 dollars for lunch because he was too lazy to pack his own lunch and wanted to eat the snacks from the school store instead. He spent it all and gave me no change back, he now says he is in lunch debt and needs more money to pay it off, and blames the lunch ladies for "lying to him". I found out later the school lunch costs at most two dollars. Usually a dollar and some change.

It sounds like there was a lot of enabling that happened, which has led to entitled behaviors. I've answered questions like this before on my Support Group weekly calls. I'd be happy to discuss this with you in more depth on one of those calls! Here's a link with more information: teachingselfgovernment.com/store/support-group/ I hope to hear from you soon!

Thank you! I will try this with my daughter. We have already gone TV free after our toddler smashed the screen with his fav toy truck. I still have a whole lot of teaching to do for myself and our family. Your videos are very helpful.

Watching others play a game isn't lazy, it's just genuinely fun. I don't like playing games but I like watching others play games. You wouldn't call someone who watches other people play sports lazy, because they're not. People don't watch others play sports because they're too lazy to play it themselves. They do it because it's fun entertainment. And usually of course the people they are watching are way better at it than they are

This is awesome. Please keep going. I was in childcare and went to trainings that didn't go in depth like this. Parenting should be required in school. Its a life choice, but so is everything we do.

I agree! These videos don't go nearly as deep as I do in my trainings and courses, though. If you want to know even more, sign up for my online Parenting Course or one of my three-day intensive trainings! teachingselfgovernment.com/store-category/courses-coaching/
