The little baby is so cute, and he smiles so happily. This is one of the joys that traveling brings him.

Great tips. I agree with all of them....not that I ever took my babies overlanding...but we've travelled with them a ton and these tips hold true.

We really, really enjoy watching your videos. Our risk tolerance level is similar to yours and Andreas. Shawn and Matt have more built up rigs and take more chances - enjoy watching their videos, just not doing what they do. My girlfriend became a fan of your channel watching the video back when you and your wife got stuck in the sand (in the 4Runner) and had to winch out. Now that you are doing videos with the baby - my girlfriend is an even larger fan. I think it's terrific your family is getting out on the trail and experiencing the outdoors together. Tangential side note: the videos where you link-up with Matt and Shawn are enjoyable. It's entertaining to watch everyone's different videos and perspectives, i.e. when you had to tow Shawn to the shop in Utah or Arizona to get his jeep fixed. He didn't include where his buddy told him to buy a Toyota to avoid problems! 😄

Nice work on getting the family out there, it's always nice to see others getting out with their little ones! It definitely changes things; you have some great tips and tricks here! We always like to say our kids haven't stopped us from doing anything we wanted to but sometimes it changes how you do things and what things you actually want to do.

We just went overlanding with our 1 year old last Oct we have 4 kids though and a 60lb dog. I REALLY need to make a video about our trip! We went from WA to OR, ID, UT then AZ and back. You are absolutely correct it takes MUCH longer with kids but so worth it because now we have all these amazing memories and stories to tell. Also, we learned to pack mouse traps. 😆

Nice! I forgot to mention having a flat surface for changing - it would have been another good tip. We use the truck tailgate and pop the Habitat hatch open for shade.

Great advice here! Temp management is one of the tough ones for sure. I also have a hate/not so hate relationship with Dr. Browns. Our kiddo loved those, but man it was rough even when just normal vacation traveling with the amount of pieces. And yes sir, you are very lucky with full night sleeping! Whole new world, and a great one at that. Side note, we used the dock a tot as well only a few years ago. It was amazing as our kiddo has clubfoot and a bnb which helped support her. While it's not being recommended anymore, it's one of those things you have to decide (as noted) what's best for your situation. Keep these up, this is great.
@RevereOverland
@RevereOverland Год назад
Yeah I'm a little hesitant to recommend the DockATot for that reason, but I've not found anything better, let alone anything that works that is actually made for sleeping!

A few additions (I’ve got a 10 month old and a 3 year old): 1) if you’re using formula, pre portion a few “dry” bottles and boil some water and store it in a thermos. When the baby wants a bottle, just put some hot and some cold water in the bottle until a good temp is reached. We would heat water in the morning and at night. 2) have a good trash setup. Poopy diapers stink. I use a heavy duty roll top dry bag.

The doc a tot is not rated for sleep and loungers have reports of suffocation. I haven’t found an option for a roof top tent, we tent camp with a pack n play.
@RevereOverland
@RevereOverland 5 дней назад
It’s not in the US, but it’s widely used in Europe for sleep. Obviously it’s at your own risk and whatever you think is safest.

We have a newborn and a AT habitat as well. We are looking to get out camping by March. Do you put the baby in the platform across from the bed or up next to the bed?
@RevereOverland
@RevereOverland 8 месяцев назад
Early on we put him on the platform at the front, opposite the bed. Now that he has started moving around he has been demoted to the floor of the truck until he figures out gravity!

@@RevereOverland Awesome, I’ll plan for changing up the bottom of the bed. Thank you for the response! BTW I love your videos. They have got me through all the sleepless nights with the newborn. Living vicariously through you until we can get back out in the Habitat.

It looks like your son does pretty well with traveling. Many, Many do not do well with travel and would make your life a living hell trying to do this. Just use your head and know your child. If it doesn't make sense then be the parent you know you have to be. Sacrifice is a parent's middle name. I know this from experience having raised two boys to adulthood. Recognize your limits and I hope that if you want to do this kind of traveling, I wish you well and your child learns the adventurous spirit that you may have.
