Good works Ty for the tips starting this winter. Have a 60amp old school fused panel last owner had here, he’s installed a bunch of 220 amp outlets for his shop he had here, dust collectors pvc ran in the ceiling and attic already. So I need to determine the Equipment first to see if I’m ok or not on the system he already has correct ? I don’t think anything’s over 20 A on all those various 220 outlets.If I remember you had some 30s installed.

The feeder for the subpanel, if it is served by a 100A circuit from the main service, must be #1/0AWG AL or #2AWG CU at 60 degrees. One size smaller if the terminations on both ends are rated at 75 degrees. (You misspoke when saying #2AL was suited to a 100A circuit).

For the 30A 240V plug, what is the NEMA spec? I’d like to rewire my ancient radial arm saw for 240V. What is best plug type (NEMA spec)? This tool draws about 6A at 240V, but I’m planning for future and may have additional wood-shop tools at 240V with higher current draws. Also prefer grounded because this is in a barn which may get moist from time to time.

Are dry walling where the romex is exposed? If not, you should have use Mc cable. Also, why didn't you box off set conduit?

Try a diamond hole saw bits made for concrete. Probably won’t run through them so fast.

@ Joshua Peterson My great uncle was an electrician and always said that outlets should have the ground on top. Most people would say that's upside down, but a loss plug with anything slender and conductive leaning against the wall could make for a problem. Lmk your thoughts Sir. Is there any reason to not install them "upside down"(with the ground up)?
@STXVIEC
@STXVIEC 3 года назад
its a personal preference.. No code on which side its installed for residential, Personally I like my ground down just for the look I know most people agree with that
@steveloux4709
@steveloux4709 2 года назад
Unless a project's specifications call for the ground facing up (a hospital would, as would critical government spaces) there is no requirement to oriented it either way. The other thing some of us feel strongly about is that receptacles mounted horizontally should always have the neutral terminal facing up. ;)

Instead of that portable band saw look for a one handed sawzall back in 97 my journeyman had the makita 9.6v one of the first major purchases after the 12v drill/driver batteries are dead after 20+yrs For both of them. They make corded version of similar ridged and kobolt . wife got me kobolt love it thinking of getting new batteries for the old one though lol. The hole saws and knock outs you cld always buy at harbor freight if its cheaper than hour rate to have a con-tracteor do it even if you only use it once. I did something similar with a ball joint press 150$ used it once saved over $600 in labor from a shop

The romex being ran horizontally across the studs, they're about 3in from each other.. Is there a reason why? Or just your preference? I don't know if there's rules regarding spacings

In California we don't use multi branch circuit for safety reasons
@steveloux4709
@steveloux4709 2 года назад
That is not accurate. There is no prohibition in CA against multi-wire circuits. However there are several reasons they have fallen out of favor - chief among them is that multiwire circuits require that the OCPD disconnect all of the ungrounded circuit conductors associated with the circuit. That means you're going to have poor selectivity if one of the ungrounded circuit conductors opens on an overload or short circuit, as all of the other breakers associated with the circuit will open as well. It also makes LO/TO for servicing a branch circuit cause the electrician to take down the adjacent circuits for the same reason. The other reason multi-wire is not as popular anymore is that it has limited use in dwelling units in light of the newer requirements for AFCI protection. Since AFCI protection is normally provided at the loadcenter, the downstream circuit conductors must be 2-wire in order to operate correctly. None of these circumstances are unique to California. When the Code is followed (as well as NFPA 70E for lock out, tag out), multi-wire circuits are no less safe than any other type of circuit. But they are probably more trouble than they are worth most of the time.

Pro tip: get a masonry hole saw. Will last the rest of your life for that little bit of siding.

Most of your videos if not all are great but I have to agree with most of the people that leave a comment about the sound. The sound is not the greatest when you're away from the person doing the recording so it would be great to be able to hear you well throughout the whole vid. Note: Not a bad criticism but instead something you should consider improving for your future vids.

Not a fan of plastic cover plates for outlets or switches without a backing they always seem to get snagged and break but for infrequent use or cheap client I warn them and than laugh later when they want me to get the metal ones or rings
