Poker tips and strategy are great. Just remember that short term, variance - luck - can play a huge part as to whether you take a pot or not. If the donk doesn't fold, no matter what you throw at him, the chances of you taking that pot go down. This is because in the short term, luck will help him more than it will help you.

THIS IS ACTUALLY HIS BEST AND MOST INFORMATIVE VIDEO OF THE SERIES.

Another thing about dry boards is that you can typically cbet smaller on them as a bluff, especially if you're also value betting them smaller... which makes sense because you don't have to charge draws bad odds to chase and it's easier to scare the opponent away. (Although I bet big on the monotone flops usually)

Wow i needed this lesson more then ever i tell you. I started to finally make money in poker again, thank you alot.

I myself have listened and learned and read a bit about poker, ver casual player but play quite like this. It definitely works if you keep focused as he says on the nuts when to fold when you should know you are beat and to end pots early. I really learned the style from how I play civilization 5. Also in pokerstars you have labels (colors that actually stick to players I think forever, so you can swiftly identify players even before hitting the tables. I always WatchKit for the 3rd world sandwich or the Russian roulette, maybe I’m paranoid byt I keep track of the nationalities to make sure I stay out of teams that may have comms. Especially at the start. No offense it just helps to know eachothers language when someone’s hustling you .On party poker this was really hard to avoid. also use the notes feature, describe what you think at first analyse the bigger holders are they playing high game or low players. Attempt a cheeky blind steal in 0.02/0.01$ you can wipe away any bad cards before the flop. And it’s cheap. What helped me the most in the end is knowing your position more thsn anything and choosing you seat when you can. Happy coronapoker to you all!

what about with microstakes. Doesnt the fishes tendencies to only call and never fold reduce this plans effectiveness?

i find that the problem with cbetting dry boards is that you will get raised or check-raised quite a bit by aggressive players putting you in a really tough situation no matter what you have. seems to me that c-betting is all about balance because it can become pretty obvious...gotta mix it up. i usually c-bet a lot no matter what (except against 3 or more opponents), just vary the sizing by betting bigger on wetter boards to get rid a lot of the weaker draws and small pair type of hands that have a way of making life miserable. on a dry board you are usually either way ahead or way behind so i dont think risking a lot on dry boards makes sense.

Really good info, I liked the part where you were saying to be more aggressive on dry boards. I never thought of that before. I am going to start doing that more bc as you said its unlikely your opponent hit that flop.

Thanks a lot for the videos, I'm watching your videos as review and I really like how you, opposed to other videomakers, explain why you are doing what you are doing instead of just saying "make this play because its standard". For example, a lot of people always say "Dont donk bet, its bad", but I like how you go over when donk betting is appropriate and why it is appropriate. Thank you sirrrrr

But in low limit games, if you open with a mid range poker pair and an Ace falls, it's tough to C-bet because low limit players play so passive and would just flat call pre flop with AK, AQ and AJ, they don't re raise pre flop so its tough to put low limit players on hands.

Better in general to win the pot immediately, or go to showdown?

Duc I like to call and take one card to see the turn if not to pricey ...that might slow villian down ....Then if he checks the turn I lead out to test him ,depending what card comes of course, keeping in mind that he was the raiser and had a good chance of hitting that flop.But many times he will fold to the 4th street lead out having raised with a midsize pocket pr or suited connectors. Either way That turn bet gets you a ton of info and maybe even a free card on the river If he thinks he might be beat , GL

Amazing video Evan. Could you give some tips on playing with the lead on the flop when opponent bets first please. You explanation is great for when the villain checks. However, i am still a bit confused what to do when they bet since i will miss the flop about 2/3 times and the opponents at my home games tend to bluff regardless of position

how about calling with a medium/kinda-big pairs out of position, and high cards dropped? Say, calling with TT and flop came Axx

OK, so at ~3 mins I have a problem. Say you bet full pot. Pot stands at 1k, you bet 1k. Either the opponent bets, or he folds. If he folds, you win 100% of course. If he calls, then the pot stands at 3k. You need to win 1 in 3 overall for this to work, not 1 in 2 as the video suggests. Am I missing something?

Probably nobody will reply as its an old video, but what if we donk lead a wet board in which we have a draw or top pair, and the preflop raiser raises us? Do we call draws if we are getting the right price? But what should we be folding here? Top pair? Low draws?

It's a good vid with a lot of key important things in, it can be hard to sit through because of the presentation but for someone like me I'm happy to listen and learn some free advice, thank you.

What does he mean by saying "unraised pots"? Is that a spot where everyone limped pre and wasn't pre flop open raise or it means that if we didn't open raise pre but someone else did and we just flatted then it means that pot is unraised?

I’m confused with the first part, wouldn’t it be switched around with the cards you’d want to bet on? Because if you already raised and they liked their cards enough to see the flop, couldn’t you assume they have some higher cards?

Hi there why does everyone " gurus" assume when you raise preflop you only get called by 1 or 2 , i played in a tournament , where no matter how much i raised preflop i was called by 6 minimum my preflop raises started at 5 bb but with my KK hand i raised 10 bb, 7 callers then on a dry but A high flop i was donked into for half pot ,

what does tourney pre flop shoving when you got other people covered got to do with optimal post flop play? pour me a cup too..

When you say playing with the lead are you taking about pfr or position? Because it doesnt make much sense. Could you clarify? Your talking about check raises when you dont have the lead but how can you do that when you act last?

Nice guide. I play small stakes MTTs on Poker Stars, usually 2-4 of them at the same time. Starting with 1500 chips and blinds at 20/10, usually the stack quickly falls below 40BB. My problem: I have very little information on opponents for several reasons (few hands played, frequent table change etc.) and I don't use forbidden stat trackers. How to play when you have no or insufficient information on your opponents?

My new strategys limping and cbetng at Uber amounts! just fold to opponent if they look strong! 1. Cheap cbets help you find opponent tendencies 2. Conditions your opponent to throw chips at you on good hands 3. Do it very often but Still be smart with your chips to keep losses minimal, 4. Carful with the board texture and trying to find opportunities to score a fold for later for when your opponent has realised his being conditioned. 5.switchback to your default play

These are good common sense strategies for playing poker. But remember playing poker for 'fun' is not the same as playing POKER for MONEY. When there is NO REAL PAIN when making poor decisions, those decisions, and REAL PAIN will felt when playing for REAL Money when the decisions you make BITE YOU IN THE ASS. So as long as you're playing REAL POKER with REAL MONEY, don't play unless you can really afford to lose it But if you are lucky enough to WIN, set a goal amount that when you reach it, you STOP playing. Keep that money YOU WON, excluding your basic buy in, aside, as your 'bank, then you can try some of those strategies presented here, knowing you are playing poker with other people's money and can play a little looser and still pay the rent, because no matter how 'good' you play, LUCK will be the deciding factor. Some will say that figuring out the 'odds' on the 'chances' of winning is the key, but when those cards are shuffled, the 'odds' goes out the window.

i use to think i was the unluckiest player at any table, then i learned about c-betting and realized how bad my play was. i would fold 99% of flops if i didnt hit, i had no idea how bad i was getting owned. just thought i was unlucky, ROFL.
