Girl.. You are Beautiful.!!!!!!! I'm 62 and have played guitar by ear since I was 15. Having a few friends in bands who play much better than I, they always got a kick / laugh from my guitar playing. 20+ years have passed since Steve showed me the tuning for the Rain Song, ( As my version, (by ear) in a regular tuning didn't sound bad,,, just not complete or full.) Your guitar skills are great. And I love the way you brought me back in time to show/learn this again. From the depths of my heart,,, I thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

these teachers get nothing for their time & effort. If the lesson is out of your range? then learn from easier lessons. Other teachers will explain in detail what modulate means or 440 standard tuning. Face it, It's like everything else. You only get out what you put in. I'm grateful for these teachers who've givven me songs on a silver platter. T.Y. Teachers...

I wanted to personally thank you for assisting me with learning to play this song as it should be played! When I heard this for the 1st time on their new album in 1973 I remember being so blown away! How did the Master do it??? I had no ideas then of alternate tunings and such. It's a bitch growing up in a small community! Then when I saw Zeppelin in the Seattle Kingdome in 1977 and then heard this masterpiece played live... All I can say is OMG! The feeling has never left and to this day this piece is and always will remain one of my most favorite movements of all time. I have my variants on how I play it but I will say this! As far as I am concerned with all the awesome guitarists that so freely and willingly give up their time to show others how to play masterpieces like The Rain Song, you have it Nailed the closest and I am so grateful I found your video several years back because now I can nail this beautiful piece as well. Just Thank You! Thank You so much! I am recording the studio version of this song at present... If interested reply back and I'll send you the RU-vid link where I will upload it.

You are one of the best teachers I've ever met in my life... and I'm not referring to music teachers exclusively (and I've had a bunch of those). Rather, you could communicate just about anything. You remind me of a great intermediate school math teacher I once had. You also remind me of my favorite college history professor. You're like a high school English teacher that was so revered by her students, generations mourned at her passing. Keep giving this gift of yours to the world. We need it.

Dear Nikki, I have watched this video at least 10 times. Every time I learn something new and pick up n important point or two that I missed on prior iterations. You have such a great way of breaking down the components of a difficult song to make it easier to play relatively quickly by learning each part separately. Thank you so much for your excellent guidance and engaging teaching style and thanks for teaching such a beautiful and iconic sing. I think you are the best teacher I have ever had the pleasure of learning from on any website or live in person lesson.

The mystery finally unravelled. Thank you! I have been trying to play this in standard tuning for years (I saw it played live in '75 in London at Earl's Court and was too far away to spot what Jimmy was doing!). All of a sudden it becomes obvious. Thanks once again!

What a bunch of whiners. This is a good lesson. It was made for people that play guitar not for people who require note for note instructions. Videos that spend five minutes explaining where to place your fingers to make a D chord and repeat the exact same instructions for every verse waist a lot of time. This was fast clear and consise. You shouldn't need instructions on nuance. You get that from knowing how to play using your ear and listening to the song. This lesson was to teach a song not to teach how to play a guitar.

beautiful woman, beautiful song. appreciate everything you have. people even though it's not EXACTLY THE SAME WAY JIMMY PLAYS IT you have to know that music isn't about being strictly perfect note for note. it's about feeling. it's sad that this has to be said.... Jimmy will tell you to know the main chords and go with the melody so you can at least stay with the song, but most importantly, make it your own. that's what keeps you interested. is because you made it your own way and that's straight from the heart and that's what music is

This is an outstanding, easy to grasp lesson. You are a natural at teaching guitar. I wish more of the online lessons were as thorough and well laid out. The only thing you might consider is adding is a link to a video of that modal tuning because trying to get it from a tuning app was difficult. All in all I'd say this is the best online guitar lesson I've had the pleasure of experiencing. Thank you.

Yeah-possibly. After performing "the rain song" live in the Led Zep days, the tech only had to retune G and B strings back to A440 standard tuning...then readied to play-"Stairway2H". Led Zep did slow down 2 songs that transposed a half and whole-step down, they were: "when the levee breaks" and "no quarter". Just some FYI. thanx

First off, hats off to Mahalo for posting the entire video on this lesson! Secondly, although this song looks difficult to play, and it is, you have to understand Jimmy Page's playing techniques, chords, shapes, and fingering style, in order to learn this song. How Jimmy Page came up with this beautiful song to me blows me away. Seriously, the shaping, chords, and fingering, not to mention the melody is pure genius. Take time to learn it and you'll impress the hell out of any guitar player.

My second favorite LZ song. How the hell JP came up with this marvelous tune is simply genius. I consider myself an advanced beginner guitarist but I insisted on learning this song. Took me hours and hours, but I finally got it down. There's a ton of chord shaping going on here, but its well worth the effort to learn. Impress your friends with this song and their jaws will drop to the floor when you play it.

A very amicable job on a difficult song. Page is very tricky with all his alternate tunings. I wonder if he ever played the same song the same way twice. Still, this is a beautiful song to learn, as are all of Page's acoustic songs. That said, I rarely follow one tutoral, I may have four tabs open using four different tutorals and then I take each section one at a time, seeing how each lesson usually has it's own version of the song and try to take what I feel is the best of each and piece the song together. I like the Mahalo lessons becuase they are clean and easy to follow, and I certainly appreciate all the time & hard work that has been put into making them. Thank you very much!
