How to program Frequencies into Channels on a Baofeng UV-5R 

Got the uv5r and uv5ra and this video has helped me programme not only channels in but also enabled me to "watch" both frequencies. Thanks so much, even though this video is pretty old!! All the best 👍

After all the videos I watched on these radios your was the simplest and to the point Thanks.

I went to several sites and couldn't figure out how to program the radio. Then I noticed that you said to erase the frequency that is in the channel first before you can program it. None of the other people on here said to do that. Thanks for telling us that otherwise there was no way for me to program my radio. Nice Video!!

This is the ONLY video I can find that actually explains how to do this. I have a midland handheld here in UK but the menu is almost identical to the Baofeng. Great job bro.

How would you enter a low frequency such as 45.72?

thank you for the post. I have a few of these older 888plus for a team of six . I bought a couple of these because i cant find the older ones anymore to replace. Right away i thought these are way to advance for our construction guys but for the money "why not" . I was worried about linking them up too. but after your vid i was able to link these up to the 888 plus with no prob...thanks again!

Hi just watched your UV5R video and i wanted to know can these be used in NZ on CB/PRS Frequencies and do i just program them like you did above ??? i want to use them for simplex and as a CB when on the road. cheers oh and im also in welly :)

I happen to have a question. How would you get the frequencies u entered into the channels to know what band it is when its put into the channel. When i enter the frequency it doesnt ask if its uhf or vhf and when i change the band in the menu it stays on the last band it was on. So does the band thing matter or not and if it does how do u get it to know the band for the frequency

I have a Baofeng UV-5R. When I bought it it came with several NZ frequencies programmed into it. My son got his hands on it and some how had it back on Chinese and lost all the frequencies. Is there someone I can send it to to have it re-set?

Hi, Im just wondering, what are the settings for receiving transmissions? I have set it up with frequencies but I don't hear anything unless I'm pushing the monitor button and even then I'm not picking up anything.

Is this the same as a CB radio? I ordered & just received a Midland portable CB RADIO that is 2 in 1 plug & play. I'm new to this stuff so I dont know much. I've seen where a Ham radio is a bit different than a CB radio. Is this a HAM radio? I'm wanting to find out if this exact one you have would be good to add to my collection? Kind of a doomsday prepper lol. So I've been collecting cool survival type stuff lately. Kinda wanna get the best equipment before july lol. Personal reasons I guess. But any info would be appreciated.

Quick question: I have two (2) Baofeng UV-5Rs. I have them set and programed identically the same in the menu. I also have them on the same frequency. When I transmit from Baofeng radio # 1 to Baofeng radio # 2 it works fine however when I try to transmit from Baofeng radio # 2 to Baofeng radio # 1, the Baofeng radio # 1 will not pick up the transmission from the other Baofeng radio #2. SO I cannot hear any signal/transmission from Baofeng radio # 1. Do you think there is something wrong with Baofeng radio # 1?

you look like you know your stuff , so ill ask a question and maybe you can help me , i have a CB that is same as baofeng i got it so i have my own at work. so my problem is that i can find the frequency to hear but when i push to talk my voice is not heard , do you have any idea how to fix this?

Hi, I am wondering before i buy this. Will this radio work with normal channels 1-16 in the UK? I have the other Baofeng radio you are using and it dosnt work but i am wondering if i program the frequencies into the new radio will it work with normal 1-16 channels? Thanks

Hi, how do you I know which frequency is available or not? Or which is not to use? Also that Repeater stuff, how do i know the right frequency for the Repeater that I need to use? hey how you doing im a new technician and i im having a problem in programming these bands my problem is if i whant to program the 70 cm band and the chart is showing me 420.0 to 450.0 mhz do i have to program the 420.0 and the 450.0 and do i have to program the 420.0 on the top number line and the 450.0 on the button number line display or do i just program the 420.0 mhz and 450.0 will be program along with the 420.0 programming and the 2 meter band do i program the 144.1 and 148.0 or do i just program 144.1and 148.0 will be programd with the 144.1programming please help i looked everywhere can't help on this?? thanks

How do you program both 2m & 70 cm on the uv-5r+. I've try with the chirp program but it only loads one .

hi there im wanting to pick up vhf in my boat but the there all preset channels,i dont see the frequency just channel like 73 and 16 are emergency. can i scan for them on a uv-5r.dont want to buy one if its to hard to work out.can i scan like if i call a radio check to emergency service,

this method worked for the basic 22 channels but i cant seem to save my Environment and Climate Weatheradio. any ideas why or how to fix it?

So this doesn’t work like a regular Police scanner? Looks like it will only pick up 1 or 2 channels at a time? I can scan over 200 different channels every 3 seconds with my current digital scanner
