In this video, I showed the 2 kinds of propagating Dracaena Colorama / Marginata cuttings. This is through water and soil media. This propagation video took 35 days for the roots to appear and ready for transplant.
I have purchased 3 this year 2 of them I over watered my recent purchase im using distilled water and rain water carefully so far so good also great video
Qué video tan demostrativo! Gracias!!
Great! That's very nice to hear from your Avril, thank you so much for sharing my videos to your loved ones. I hope I helped all of you in your gardening activities through these simple videos that I make. Thanks
There isn't much information on grow lights, but Dracaenas grow like crazy with led lights. The colorama I have doubled its size in 4 months and the leaves are more red.
My Dracena has started brown tips though I was watering it regularly, suddenly its top started bending. So I took out the whole and saw its roots are dried and got black also. Can I put it in water and cut all the rotten roots??
Hi Adela. Thanks for this beautiful and informative video. I just cut the top of my dracena off last weekend and placed the top cutting in some water so that it will hopefully grow roots). The leaves on the top cutting were looking good until two days ago when the bottom leaves started dropping. They are still green and otherwise look healthy. Is it normal for the leaves to droop when the cutting is put in water? I wonder if it's getting too much water, or if the leaves are just too much for the plant to support without its roots. Do you think I should try planting the cutting in soil instead of water? Sincerely hoping I haven't killed it, as it was such a beautiful plant before I cut it! Also hoping the base will sprout some new branches in the coming weeks. Fingers crossed!
Hi Clare, thanks for sharing your concern. Based on my experience, the dropping off of the leaves in the first weeks of propagation is normal because the cuttings start to prepare to grow new roots and leaves soon. I suggest that you maintain the level of water, not too much, you can see the video how I did it. And wait for 35 days for the roots to come out. Goodluck to your propagation :)
You all probably dont care but does anybody know a trick to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly lost my login password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me
@Davis Matthias i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Thank you for the video, and especially for the 35 day follow up. I received some Pothos and Dracaena in a pot from my mothers funeral in 2010. I had neglected the Dracaena pretty much, and although they remained healthy they never seemed to grow at all. So I decided to cut off the tops of all three and place them in soil and I also repotted the trunks in hopes that I will get new leaf growth out the sides so that they are thicker. If they die I am gonna be so sad. 🙏🙏🤞🤞🤞🙏🙏
Hi, my Dracaena Marginata's leaves are drooping and some of the tips have become brown. The soil is moist but I wouldn't say overly wet. We also haven't watered it that much although the soil was bone dry when we got it yet all the leaves were pointing upwards. Any ideas what could be the cause?
Hi Ba Bu, based on my experience and research, your plant may have shown too much nitrogen absorption from the soil. If you will try, you can use mulch and place around the plant to let the nitrogen absorb. Also you can plant green leafy vegetables around the plant to lessen the Nitrogen content of the soil. :)
good evening, I'm French sorry for my English. I would like to know if it is normal for the water to turn white and should I change it? thanks for your advices.
What do you mean? I have clippings off of my main draceana that are super super long and twisty-ish but if I can do something cool with it while I have the chance I'd love to. I wish I could show everybody but I can't hear
Would this survive in leca? Once the root has formed after propagation? What about if we took the mother out of the soil and cleaned the root, then put it in leca...would it survive?
Hi Dwight, in this particular plant Dracaena Colorama / Marginata I have not tried it yet. But I think it will grow well in LECA. I tried propagating cuttings in LECA on Pothos and Dragon Tail plants and they worked great! Here are the videos: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rWrnQQ2Dnos.html&t and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YhJnAOpfMuE.html&t
Hi, I haven't experience that yet but I suggest you try it. Propagation is experimental, because the behavior of the plants differ based on many factors :)
@@AdelaBespejo Gracias.
Gracias
How long does it take to grow the roots? Either in the water or in the dirt. I've asked on various other posts as well but should I cut off most of the stem from my clippings because they're super long?
Hi Jennifer, sorry for the late reply. It took about 35 days for the roots to appear in soil and water. You can follow the length that I showed in this video. But the idea is, the longer the stem the better chance and faster to grow roots. :)
Hi Adela....i have red dracaena plant . Will it grow roots if i cut and try to propagate it in this month of September as monsoon is going back now in north india. And what will happen to mother plant stem? Will it start growing new leaves on it ?
Hi Pallavi, as you can see in this video, the dracaena stems are cut and placed in the pot of soil. After 35 days, it grew roots. The mother plant will grow new leaves because it has roots already.
@@pallavisahi It's my happiness to help other plant enthusiast know the answers. So if you have more questions, just feel free to ask and I will help you. Thanks too :)
