How to Properly Apply GoPro Adhesive Mounts to Helmet (& Other Surfaces) | GoPro Tips & Tricks 

A clear, succinct how-to video. I may have to attach my first GoPro sticky mount in the near future. So this was timely for me.

As it might seem simple, I made sure to look up how to attach it anyhow. So I came across this video which explains perfectly on how to do it. Great tip on how to keep pressure on the attachment. Thanks for the video.

You can also heat it up until it's bubbling and then apply it.

Except the GoPro lens is not in the centre of the camera anyway so you need to adjust it in post regardless.....

another method would be to gently heat the adhesive up with a lighter before sticking it to the surface.

Thank you for including the 3M printed instructions. Considering only helmets, they come with glossy and matte finishes, is there any difference in bond strength on these two types?

I lost my gopro hero3+ black that was brand new at the time because i didnt properly wipe my helmet, was a shame :/ . I have learned though and now have them sticking properly!

I'm just about to do this to my ski helmet. I would do front and centre but I still want to be able to get my goggles up quickly. Does your camera get in the way of your goggles where you mounted it?

I'm going to buy the adhesive mounts, but instead of applying them to a helmet, I'm going to apply the flat surface adhesive to the holister case that comes with a otter box defender case, and while using the GoPro capture app, attach it to the back of my phone, and use it as a more traditional camera. The best part is that the actual mount is so small, when the GoPro isn't mounted it's not that noticeable or out of place, and it's so quick to switch from mounted to not mounted.

Is there a non-adhesive alternative, for attaching to higher-grade professional helmets, eg mountaineering or motorbike helmets?

Any work-around for mounting to a helmet that has a central 'crease' down it? Both my cycling and climbing helmets have just such a seam and it prevents central mounting of the camera.

Are there any temporary mounts for 1 day shoots you can suggest?

If I do downhill would u recommend this mount or the strap one?

Was the weight of the camera annoying when mounted on the front of the helmet?

I used the alcohol and water mixture on my black smith snowboard helmet and it managed to fade the black....Howd that not happen on yours?

Hey, helpful video, but I have a question. Can I use tea-tree oil instead of isopropyl alcohol to clean the surface, will it work the same?

Do you have to rub the surface with alchohol because I don't have any.

a good alternative to the alcohol mix is a window cleaner. should do the job just the same and not leave any marks if people are experiencing that!

Since I am going to be applying my adhesive to a helmet that I am hiring, I am going to be doing this abroad. I have 2 questions, 1 will nail polish remover work well enough instead of the alcohol, and 2 what is the best way to remove them as I don't want to return the helmet with something attach to it? I had bought a different helmet on Amazon at the beginning of this summer for my big headed daughter to wear while bicycling and scootering. ru-vid.comUgkx0ipcYkXV-2YCp_cBN3HLfzR_OoD0HQYx Well it was WAY too big and not adjustable at all. Previously we had really expensive but adjustable helmets from the local bike store and I didn't really want to pay $50 again for another helmet. I searched and was fairly sure from the reviews that this helmet was what I was looking for- and it was! The pads inside are comfortable, the rim in front provides a bit of shade, but most of all for me there is the dial adjuster in the back which allows for a really secure fit on my daughters head. It seems like it will fit for a few years too which makes me even happier! She loves the pattern and I might end up buying another one for her twin sister (who has a much smaller head!)I definitely recommend this helmet. My daughter is 5 but has a big head. Her twin sister could fit in this one as well but it's a bit big.
