Christine Huang my cat likes to eat it but does not even want me to adjust it or remove it because she always thinks that I am giving her my hand as a toy to chew

Our cat is anxious and he was so freaked out, I asked vet for Gabapentin. While I don't like having him on meds, it helps keep my cat calm; the alternative would be far worse. He has a tail injury and that is much harder to heal than an incision on their body because he kept attacking it. If I missed a dose I could tell because every time he wax that tail and sees the bare end of it he is attacking it 🙄

Take if off before they eatand drink

@@meowsuki8031 it gets dirty if they eat with it, it's better to take off and put back on just make sure you supervise them

@@meowsuki8031 it's also super uncomfortable for most cats so im sure your cat would appreciate you taking it off for them to eat

I agree. Keep that collar on. My cat was still able to get to her wound on the tail with the smaller Ecollar so we have to give her a larger collar which basically made it nearly impossible for her to eat and drink without my intervention. I ended up getting a small enough water bowel and putting it up to my kitty's mouth every few hours and also hand feeding her the same way. Eventually we figured out a place where we could set the small bowels in the sink where she could bend down and drink with the collar over the bowel without spilling it. It was a rough 2 weeks, but eventually she healed well enough to take it off and she's all good as new now. So just be patient and work with your kitty to help him/her eat and drink when needed and it will all work out.

yeah but unfortunately it’s the most effective way to prevent them from licking the wound. Some cats are smart enough to get the soft collar or recovery suit off
