Can we educate the public and abolish the use of "Blue Prints". Architecturally, the printing of architectural drawings on light sensitive paper hasn't been used since the 80's. "Construction Documents" (CDs) is the official term as it holds legally binding responsibility of the party issuing them.

Hey Brother just wanna say thank you for taking the time to teach people how to read prints. I've been a carpenter almost 15 years and sometimes you really don't get the opportunity to practice reading prints on the job.

I'm glad I have time to learn from RU-vid again, and you're the first person I looked up! I appreciate the knowledge you share and I admire how humble you are. I've been pursuing a career in construction for years, and every employer has failed to give me the opportunities I deserved. I'm transitioning out of the military and found a great company that is teaching me a lot. As I commented on your IG, I feel so behind and unworthy starting as a laborer for the 5th time in my life. I asked my superintendent for advice on moving up fast, and he told me to learn to read plans so here I am! You motivate and inspire me brother. I hope to be in a position with endless knowledge like you are.

I find it amazing reviewing plans and knowing which ones were done in autocad opposed to Revit. Autocad just simply looks like lines on a page, wheras Revit has more detail, linewights are more proportionate, detailing is a lot more intense. Just based on the technicians skill level I guess. As a drafter... these plans were definitely done in AutoCAD.

hi Matt. First thanks a lot for all your information. It's very easy to understand also very practical. I have a question, Does the home designer, who is developing a new residential project ( all the design), has to develop the construction plans too? it's that mandatory? it's ok that the home designer just gives me the architectural set of plans? (of course, it includes the plans, facades plans, sections, details, scheduling...etc...) I am really confused...

Hey Matt, love your videos. You mention the term shear walls in many of your videos. Could you explain what that means a little further? Thanks
@Ahhyouthought
@Ahhyouthought 4 года назад
I believe that’s the exterior wall material (OSB, plywood) that’s affixed to the studs. You would then put a vapor barrier of some sort (tar paper) on top and then your siding material (lap siding, shingle, stucco).
@TheDesertRat31
@TheDesertRat31 4 года назад
A shear wall provides lateral stability of the framing members making up the skeleton, such as the 2x4s or 2x6s. The OSB or plywood keeps the wall from collapsing in the same plane as the wall. Another term is "racking."
