Today I share how to recover data from a dead laptop. The data includes any pictures, videos, important documents, music, ect. Basically anything you save to your laptop.
To do this you will have to remove the hardrive from the dead laptop.
REMINDER - this will only work if the harddrive is not the reason the latop no longer works.
Simple follow the steps in the video to recover your data

I tried your method and it opened the drive for a bit but when I tried to change the security info it wouldn't let me open the user file. While i was trying to figure it out, the drive "disappeared" from my file explorer. I unplugged and re-plugged the drive back in and I saw the files again, but then it disappeared again. Do you know what this might mean?

You make it so straight forward. My Win 10 OS is gone. Where? I d k but I'm gonna try this out. What about programs that were in the OS , can those be retrieved ? Just wondering. Two I paid for but w/no disk or download again option.

Thanks so much for the info. However, the dead laptop that I am trying to retrieve the data is PC with Window 10. My other laptop is MacBook Air. So do you have any suggestions on how to get the data from the dead PC onto the active MAC Book Air? Thank you!

When I did this, the pictures file was empty. Not sure if there's anything I could do about that, hope someone knows if there's a way to get them back. It's all my memories from 2013-2018, all of high school and some more.

it's...not a fan spinin. It's a shiny super smooth metal disc that has a reader going over it, bigger gb hard drives have multiple discs.

Does anybody know if you can move an entire folder this way? I do custom designs on shirts, mugs, shirts, etc...and I have a single file for all of my designs. Within that file are subfolders by occasion and within those folders are more subfolders. This would be a nightmare and take me a better part of half a year. I must have probably 20K SVG files.

i tried this and both red and blue lights are lit but blues not flashing, i can feel the drive spinning but its not showing up in my new laptops system, i have win 11, no one i know has win 10 anymore

If the hardrive is corrupt in anyway it might not work or some files themselves could be corrupt

With a video title of "HOW TO RECOVER DATA FROM A DEAD LAPTOP", then finding out this is only for a specific laptop, I was skeptical about watching the rest of the video. Then when you connected the adapter to the hard drive (out of view of the camera) and said "you will hear the fan running", I couldn't continue. You obviously do not know enough about computers to be giving advice to people on RU-vid that could result in possibly corrupting software or damaging their computer.
