This method is only meet in case the gold plated is thick but for thin gold plated is not recommended due to many plating will be solved into solution. Better all stuff is melted into a metal shape and then treat by HNO3, to get gold content beside no wasting many chemical to do it. Try it!
An Algerian friend of mine thought me this, we both experimented it, I bought chemicals both for extraction and cleaning. I had upto 0.165grams of extracted gold. Last week, I toke it to a man to make a jewelry for me I didn't told him what I brought. When I went back today to get it, I told him he did not believe. He said I should keep it when he boy is around, I come get it my dear I refused.....lastly I want home with what I went for. Hope to continue gold extraction.
Actually you have hydrochloric acid in your stomach right now... different concentration I'm sure but you do have some just laying around if you wanna get technical 😏
I did this with the same type of boards but added hydrogen peroxide. I was left with a lot of lead and plastics in my filter with the gold. I can't use a magnet because it picks up the gold pieces. Does this every happen to you with just HCL? Or did you clean everything somehow?
No it's not the same. Peroxide how much different and slower reaction. It's not so strong to clean gold, from other metals. For this reason I DONT use it.
kassi man i have an important question to ask just to be nozy 😄but say if u had about 1 ton of gold plated connectors and sold it to a scrap yard u would get like millions correct?
@@TYETYE14 No, you can buy bags full of many pounds of gold plated connectors cheap. They have to remove it all and melt it down so you would not get as much money, plus they aren't gonna pay just for the weight since the pcb and such is not worth anything.
@@TYETYE14 Firstly, scrap metals need to be refined if it's going to used again. Secondly, the 'gold' is processed or mixed with other metals. Wiring & cable I've always kept off cuts & scrap , I can't leave on site / at a client's premises so I keep in the garage & a few times or when I have good amount I drop at the scrap dealers yard .... costs me nothing & buys a box of beer & lunch ..... Lol .

Hydrochloric acid is also known as muriatic acid which can be found in most hardware stores. However, you may be put under a watchlist if you buy muriatic acid along with other "listed" items/chemicals because it is a main component in making heroin and methamphetamine. If you are thinking of buying muriatic acid, make sure you are not getting any other precursor chemicals or hardware with it.
Two reasons: 1) as kassi man said, it adds oxygen, making the reaction more active. 2) Most importantly, the bubbles agitate the acid, keeping it circulating all through the boards, constantly exposing all surfaces to fresh acid.
That is pretty wasteful and inefficient. I hope you precipitated other metals from the solution. The solution contains Platinum and Palladium and silver.

Hi hello, sorry if it’s too late (my background is in chemistry so I hope my answer helps!) but as long as you are POSITIVE you have washed the HCl off your good you can do as you please. If you have any HCl left and you heat it the chemical will turn into a gas and that is nasty stuff to breathe in or get in your eyes

Right off the hop. That filter on your mask doesn't look like an organic vapor filter, looks like a p-100 maybe 200 but probably less. Don't let yourself fall into a false sense of security because you have a mask and filter, if that is a p100 your better off without it, you'll breath heavier and intake more noxious fumes than you would without.

Γιατι ΔΕΝ μπορεις να ξερεις τι επιχρισμα εχει βαλει ο κατασκευαστης, συν οτι αυτα που θα μαζεψεις ειναι παντα αναμικτα .... μετα θα το βρεις. Το μονο σιγουρο ειναι οτι για καθε 1,5 κιλο απολυτως καθαρου σκραπ... (χωρις να εχει επανω πλαστικα, μολυβι, πλατινα, ασημι, αλλα μεταλα και κολήσεις) θα παρεις περιπου 1 γραμμαριο καθαρο ..! καποιες φορες θα σου βγει 6-7 καρατια αλωτε μεχρι 14. Ειδικα αν ειναι απο κινεζικες κατασκευες βγαινει το πολυ 6 καρατια, αν και συνηθως δεν ειναι καν χρυσος, παρατηρησε οτι μετα απο λιγο καιρο σκουριαζουν οι επαφες και τα τσιπακια.

In theory, If you manage to "extract" for example 15-20 grams of gold and then purify this amount of gold to 24 carats, what will be the price for it? Does anyone know? Is it going to be like the price of "normal" gold?
