That muddy Jeep looks beautiful. They’re such a pain to clean afterwards though 😂

The only problem I see is that when hooking the hook onto the d ring it is upside down, you should always place the open part of the hook facing up wards so if the hook breaks it shoots down and not up.

That and over-tightening the shackle... good way to get that pin stuck permanently!

Thanks. Never used my winch yet. Love the format - two guys just working together to show how to fix a problem.

videos well done and very useful, I hope someday to have my own jk or jl and learn so many questions of mechanics in general, I would like a work environment like this.

Very well done, great step by step. And I'm glad you called it a shackle at least once 🙂

1st time viewer. Good, straightforward info. and helpful. Thanks. Do you have a video on snatch block off-center recovery?

That's what I came here for, too lol but this turned out to be a great beginners video

A snatchblock halves the load. It also halves the speed. To say it doubles the power isn’t necessarily accurate. I’m not splitting hairs, but if you’re going through the trouble to make a video it doesn’t take much longer to explain it correctly. I’d also rather have the hood up acting as a shield than using it as a wire keeper. It’s also a good practice to hook a clevis hook from under, rather than hooking over. That way if something breaks loose, it more likely to be deflected downward. Putting bow shackles in a line weight bag is one step removed from putting them on the end of the winch line. My comments are only intended to be helpful and should not be interpreted any other way. We’re all on the same team here. Thank you for your videos.

Great friendly attitude. Decent video. Wish it had covered more. I wish I had watched some videos before the first time I had to winch. The first time I picked a tree on the wrong side of the road and had to change trees to get a good angle. Another mistake people make is putting the cable to low on the tree so it rubs against rocks. Not good, especially if you are running synthetic cable. When winching up hill make sure the cable clears everything. Also winching up hill put the cable up higher so the winch is pulling you up the hill and not down into it. Other than that it was a great 101 guide to winching.

when using a shackle makes sure you back it off a quarter turn. You can spend all day trying to get that thing off if its super tight.

Great video and well produced. Wrong explanation and how you would set up a snatch though.

NEVER PUT SOILD OBJECTS IN THE WINCH BLANKET!!!!!! You Just added Projectiles. Only use soft things like Sand, Dirt, snow, mud or even plastic water bottles.

Thank you for the video. I do have a question though also to clarify things. 1. When winching yourself ( forward) , you want to give it gas and winch at the same time. Can you leave the jeep in neutral and just use the winch power? 2. Why is a synthetic cord better than a steel one? 3. How do I decide how much of a winch I need to install on my jeep? ( about to buy a 2021 Rubicon ( 4xe) ) . I don't plan on extreme use, but I do plan on having it available to help people who don't know how to drive in the snow to recover.

1 its better to give a little throttle to help take some pulling load off the winch. 2 synthetic is better because if the cable snaps it wont hurt you like a steel cable can. 3 i would plan on a 10k winch that would be plenty strong for what you need .

Love the yellow Jeep. What lift/tire combo? .. and where can I find the light bar.

Might have been able to drive the yellow one out if it didnt have huge gangster rims and low profile tires

In the scenario of extracting a stuck vehicle with your winch, you decided to stay in Park with your brakes depressed. Not judging and more so asking for clarity but when searching about how to winch in this specific scenario, most of what I see is that you should be in neutral with brakes on so that you're not putting added weight on the parkin pawl. Would you agree with this or would you stay in Park??

If some one teach you how to winch from tree and pull never use tree trunk protection - stay away from that as no experience is behind
