THE BACK OF MY HAIR IS SO SHORT! It's so annoying!😖😭🙄 It’s down my back now I have dreads. Honestly the best advice is very simple: leave it alone moisturise your hair regularly and don’t force it into styles. I thought it was impossible but patience is key!!

@Mese Burnett If it doesn't grow long enough to Braid sometimes twisting or putting a rubber band on it helps. I have the same issue and unless I keep the name of my neck rubber banded it breaks off every time I get my hair done. I'm done going to the stylist. It makes my hair worse instead of better

I had this trouble too! I grew my hair for four years and while the front part of my hair grew well, the nape and the sides were horribly short. My hair has always grown like that so I didn't think I was going to be able to do anything about it. But I cut my hair all off and started with lots of water, essential oils and shea butter, and also with rice water and protective styling, and now for the first time in my life all of the hair on my head is at the same length

To maintain moisture, use water first then Jamaican Black Castor Oil on my scalp and on my hair from root to tips. JBCO is pretty thick so after I initially twist it, I only needed to remoisturize my scalp and my tips/ends 1 - 2 more times during the same week. On days when I didnt add more oil I would just Spray the entire nape section with a leave-in conditioner. ( I made my own with water, JBCO, aloe vera juice and regular conditioner. Just mix & shake it up) Spray and keep it moving. The key is really in keeping your tips/ends moisturized because this is the Oldest part of your hair and the first part to break off. Keeping healthy ends is key to maintaining Length. So be sure to "respect your elders" :) You are going to like the results

I had that problem too for 28 years ....until I learned in 2018 what I did wrong all those years. My protein/moisture balance was out of order and it didn't get any nutrients. Now I totally forgot what it looked like, because it's pretty long. My hair grew from ear length to past my shoulder length in 2 years and the nape area is on it's way to reach my armpit 😇 Having healthy hair is *key* to grow your hair longer and faster and I'm positive your hair and nape area will too 🙂

So amazing to know other people pull their nape hairs . It’s like the most satisfying feeling ... I researched it because I thought I was weird ... but it’s because their are a lot of nerve endings back their and a thin layer of skin . I don’t have a problem with the growth but I just love to pull it . When it gets bruised I take a few days break 🤦🏾‍♀️

I wear wigs, but I've wanted to start wearing braids again, but my hair is just so short back there. I know consistency is my issue too. Black castor oil + megatek rebuilder helped grow my edges back years ago, I may give those a try as well.
@lizzylisa1904

Thanks for the video. I learned for me, the reason my edges and nape area was thinning and falling out was bc my head scarf. Being so tight, and the scarf was pushing my hairline back and to tight on my nape area. 😱 So I started using black Jamaican Castor oil on my nape and edges. I now wear a satin bonnet instead, and now my hair is growing back like grass. Nice and full.

@@brizzyy4343 no. You oiling the scalp to penetrate it and the oil will moisturize the scalp and make it healthier. I just realized today sadly that I've been doing the same thing again the past week and need to find a coping mechanism to stop otherwise ill probably have to trim alot sooner then I want. Try to have your mom research about it and work through it if research does help try helping her visual it in the sense that it is a double edge sword for helping with stress and anxiety. Same! I had a really bad bout with sore, burning spots that resulted in me pulling out my entire crown section from ear to ear. Then it just started coming out on it's own, still painful to touch and burning. I've lost all BUT my edges, which is crazy. I've been trying to grow my hair back for years.

Water is good for growth so Rosemary water, rice water etc. and wear bonnets or have silk pillow cases. It helps keep moisture from rubbing off on your pillows and prevents tugging

I pull out my nape too, to the point where I just ended locking a little section the left side of my nape where I pull the most. So I trained myself out of pulling my hair that way

I have nearly the exact same problem exept only then mildle part of my hair is normal and the rest is short also I have dots in the front portion of my hair instead of normal hair . I usually stretch it out when I'm watching something and it annoys me cuz I wanna stop but I feel like I have to so basically I have a similar problem.

Yes, but what are you using to wrap your hair at night? I've been using a wave cap and I know that that is part of the culprint. I dont know any other way to wrap my hair where it doesnt pull/sit on my nape area. I honestly feel like my nape area hair follicles are dead. Either from constant friction of the wave cap or from relaxers from my youth. Either way, I'm willing to try anything. Plus, I wear my hair flat ironed, so .... I should still be using a cream? Help me!

My whole life my nape has been super short and course. The rest of my hair is about 3b but my nape is about 4c, so crazy. Its always tangled and dried up, but the hair is still super thick down there so I just leave it lol I’m gonna start targeting moisture down there now though

Trichotillomania... girl I did a big chop last year because I was suffering from inflammatory alopecia from picking at my crown and nape and having tight styles. I'm seeing major growth in the crown now, but I'm still struggling with the nape on one side (where I pick). I wear wigs too. Thanks for sharing -- going to my beauty supply today!

Quiana Hood hi care to share what use for the crown area
@qh8761
@qh8761 5 лет назад
@@luckyhall8634 its growing but still very fragile (I have thick 4c hair, that area is thinner and more like 3a)... i keep it covered in loose cornrows and I use oils (black castor, Hot Six) to massage my scalp from time to time. Sometimes, the best remedy is to restrict manipulating that area. I also take vitamins for hair skin and nails from time to time.

Hiiii!! I always had problems with the nape area. Not until I went Natural 5 years ...then my nape started to grow. My nape area is now Bra strap length. I follow you tuber Indigenous strandz routine. I wear my hair about 90% of the time in 2 strand twist. I wear 100% silk Bonnet at night. I try to keep my twist up loosely most of the time. You are a cutie!💕

Sometimes we need to address the root cause of what is making you pick your nape hairs, stress, anxiety, tension, get to the source, stop pulling it, watch it grow.
