Exactly what I needed to know - unfortunately, when they built the house they installed the microwave before the trim on the cabinets so it wouldn't tilt down far enough to lift off the bracket. Had to bend the bracket "hooks" out of the way with a sturdy screwdriver and pliers.

Wow - you've got to be STRONG to take that down by yourself! Manufacturers recommend two people for the job, to be safe.

Important part to note is if you move the oven out then you'll get far better leverage to use your arms in lifting it out and putting the new one in. Most average folks have enough strength for that. However, with an oven still in its spot, your arms have to extend outwards far greater enough where it's much harder to do, probably have to contort your spine too for shorter folks and that is really bad and painful even if you are able to get it in.

Good video. But it didn't address when things go wrong. For example: Mine got stuck on the bracket in the back after taking the bolts on top out. What to do when that happens? This is for if everything goes perfectly. Most things don't go perfectly. =( Need to address these issues.

I used a 5 gallon bucket and a pillow. Pillow gave it a little play at just the right height.

These are a raised panel style ,made from maple with a clear lacquer finish. This home is about 15 yrs old so the color has ambered a bit darker also with time

Another good video. Wish you guys were local in my area. I've got one contractor who does the quality of work seen in your videos. Unfortunately he is very very busy. A simple question: Are the wall mounting brackets and positioning of the top screws standardized across all brands of 30" OTR microwave cabinets? If not, are they for individual brands? I need to replace our Kitchen Aid microwave and prefer to use the same bracket and upper cabinet drill-outs for the screws, if possible.

No unfortunately they are not standard and most times even teh same brand will now use a different bracket and bolt pattern.

Thank you man. I studied mine up and down thinking there would be bolts mounting mine somewhere else but couldn't find anything. I knew there couldn't only be 2 bolts inside a cabinet holding this monster in place but couldn't be sure what it was, so I came here to be put at ease about what's coming. You're video is straight to the point too so you've earned a sub. Now then.. this things all busted up and covered in a quarter inch of grease so I can't wait to get it out and shower. Thanks again!

What can make cold air come out the sides of the microwave? Would it be the guy didn't properly line up or hook up the vent that goes up into the attic? It's so cold now that it is winter and my kitchen isn't warm. I even had more insulation put in and it is still cold around it and inside when I open the door.

Those events go right out side so they can be cold. Check that there is a damper on the vent outside keeping wind form easily blowing straight in.
