Out of all the videos I watched on RU-vid and tutorials for solid 5 hours troubleshooting my TP-Link 1043N(D) on web revert to stock despite using the webrevert to stock file from DD-WRT website... My router didn't have power button but I pressed and held on to the reset switch until info pop up on log file. Only your video save me..Thank you so much...

I want to remove DDWRT from my router (ARCHER c7 ac1750) and revert to stock I've tried so hard to look for a solution to no avail. I used the software on this website to try to revert www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/archer-c7/ . I also ran a full reflash on the bios and it still reverted to ddwrt. Could you please guide me in the right direction to remove ddwrt from my router?

Thanks Richard! I followed your instructions and it worked like a charm on my C7 v5.6. If anyone reading the comments has issues where things timeout while the .bin is transferring, I suggest trying with an older version of the firmware. That worked for me then I could upgrade to the newest firmware the normal way through the TP-Link web GUI. Again, thanks Richard.

Hi Richard, thanks for this fantastic tutorial. After a couple of initial problems of my own making, I got to revert my 940nV4 back to stock. What I would say for others is that when downloading the TPTFD, Google refused saying it was a dangerous program so I had to alter my security settings to get it to download. So far I have not got any virus's or malware from it.

Hi Richard, I just wanna say thank you and i really mean it. I wanna thank you for a million times for your easy and detailed tutorial on how to get the router back to the original firmware. I installed open wrt and this tutorial worked fine and no problems happend. I have just one question:when you set the ip for the ethernet connection why did you type 192.168.0.66 why this number specifically? And can i use another number for future uses?

First my reset button+on/off button didn’t work. (archer c7 v5) Than I turned off all firewall and tried again (from turned off state, first use pin to press and hold reset button, than press on/off and keep holding reset button for 10-20 secs.) It helped. Thanks!

thank you very much! it really helped me. It worked on WA901N/ND (EU) V5. But it wants file name changing as wa901ndv4_tp_recovery.bin. (I had firmware update for V5 but i changed the name as V4. doesn't matter) I learned because of your trick that looking the Log Viewer.

so if i have dd-wrt already installed, it wont delete it if i hit the factory reset button on the netgear? i accidentally hit the reset button and lost the dd-wrt menu but the router name remains..can i salvage the firmware at this point? its for a wnr3500 with a marvel chip :-o

This video applies to WR940N and many similar Tp-Link routers. It won't Upgrade/Downgrade to any firmware in DD-WRT, i get this error "Failed to Upgrade", that's why i'm trying to do you method. Thanks Again

it did not work for me , i tried it two times the TFTP did not find it , i kept reseting it , it never came up, i hit on log view and all that , besides this way is there any other way to do it, im using the same router Version 6 According to the lable on the back.

It works great for 940n but it doesn't work for Archer A7, my router is stuck with dd-wrt firmware, and I can't disable the NAT boost, wired connection is too slow.

I was able to revert back to the stock firmware for the C7v2 by using "ArcherC7v2_webrevert.bin" from everbest.ftpserver.biz/TP-Link/DD-WRT_Revert%20Files/ I used the "upgrade firmware" in the dd-wrt menu. After that I was able to upgrade to the newest firmware for the C7v2 from tp-link.

841ND v.7.2 - combination of RESET and POWER does not work, no logs. I've tried to press for few seconds RESET when I'm powering the router and tried for a long time, but it just RESET the router and no logs at all

It's great instruction, but generally people changing from DD WRT to stock firmware are the ones who know about computers. Perhaps the instruction can be a bit more concise to speed things up. This type of things aren't exactly suitable for computer illiterate anyway, but this video seems to cater for them.

I like OpenWRT and have used it the past. For my purposes though I find DD-WRT to be adequate, stable, reliable, compatible, easy to work with, easy to upgrade and most of all easy to explain. I may do some OpenWRT videos as well as most of my hardware is supported by it and one of my routers, a Linksys EA8300 is NOT supported by DD-WRT and is supported by OpenWRT. Why are there so much "water"?! It is hard to listen cause the author is explaining how to save a file..!!!! onto a computer. Com'on, you are explaining some details to folks who has already rooted their routers, and you can bet they know all of that! Could you skip all the cr@p and just provide steps and resources necessary to do the job?
