hunterworks.com/ How to remove the primary clutch from a Polaris Ranger or RZR This method does not apply to a XP 1000 Ranger or Ranger 1000, the method is close and requires a different puller we do not make but sell another brand.
Wow!!!!! this guy is awesome no fluff, no Bullshit, did not ramble with a bunch of useless information, just good common sense approach to help the DYI person accomplish a simple task at home.
Thank you very much for this tutorial. My primary was not releasing fully on my Ranger 570 and I was getting creep and difficult shifting. In the end, I needed to replace the primary and I used your technique. It solved the problem thank you very much.
Well hell man you helped the hell out of me I took the cover off and didn't know what the hell I was looking at thanks a lot hopefully my project will work I'm attempting to swap the Polaris engine with a duramax 18 hp praying the clutch fits the shaft
Thank you for these videos. New to these beasts. Just got a Turbo S. Hope the stock belt last a long time but will order one from you as thanks for these great videos.
Hunterworks Inc. I got a 17 general I tried making a homemade puller now I got a piece of metal stuck in the back of the primary becuz I can’t get it off ! Any ideas? Needing help BAD!
Thanks for this video. Made taking my granddaughters clutch off her 800 rzr easy. Bearing was froze up completely. Just Purchased new primary instead if rebuilding. back on the road again.
Good video, I had trouble with a 2019 ranger crew xp1000 primary wouldn't come off for anything ended up pumping grease in the crankshaft hole, popped it out!! I agree with not putting anything through the the clutch that's a big no no. Ps Thanks for the line up tool, it worked great!!
I just had some experience with what you said about putting a handle through the primary and loosening your spidernut, only I didn't realize I loosened it. Do mostly trail/mountain riding so I guess that's why I didn't notice a loss in top speed or really anything until my daughter was stuck down the road because it wouldn't move. When I got it home and took the cover off, I realized everything had come loose. The spider nut wasn't even threaded on at all. I couldn't figure out why it came loose but the only time I had the primary off, which wasn't long ago, I used a wooden handle through the middle so I could get 96ft/lbs. I'm pretty good at finding out what not to do lol
Huge help. Had to tap mine to break it loose. Dealer wanted $2000 to replace clutches and belt. I replaced primary and belt for $200. Runs like a champ.
@@budgetcardcollector6988 you need to watch our video on not buying these chinese clutches, you might get lucky but most are just doing it again very soon
I have a 2015 Polaris assault switchback 800. Is there a universal puller you have or a specific one for my sled? My primary won’t engage, I ref my sled and it won’t move. What do you think the culprit is?
Ok 3rd trip to the store for the best impact driver they have. Just to double check I’m supposed to go forward once the clutch bolt is fully treaded correct? Logically it had too but just double checking...
Thanks for in depth method! So easy!! Have broken bolt on primary!! How to proceed w new installation and should I replace all four now? Thanks in advance
Fill me in on the secret of getting a broken bolt out of the shaft that is deep inside about an inch. I have a general 1000 with this issue (happened on the trail). I've tried to drill the center and use an easy out but it rounds off the easy out.
Different style of easy out most likely, the ones I use do not slip. Go to amazon and put this in the search RIDGID 35585 10 Screw Extractor Set, 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch Broken Screw Extractor
PLEASE HELP !! So I put a new belt on my rzr bc it ripped the last one and once I put it on I tried yup it into gear but once I do it turns off triying to pull
So I have a question I got a rzr 1000 xp and I can literally watch my primary clutch move an 1/8 of an inch back and fourth is that because I didn’t tighten it enough?
@@dunejumper0077 I would have to see that email me a short video or text it to our number at hunterworks todd@hunterworks.com 601-771-0070 and I’ll look at it Monday
Assuming you mean threads where the puller goes not the threads in the crank where the bolt goes that holds it. I don't know of a good way, may wind up cutting it off
I have a 570 ranger ,started dragging and wont stop pulling, belts riding just a little high on second dary looks like would be right could this be in primary
Wel that’s sweet and all, but can you do a video where a impact won’t get the clutch off, I’ve got a 700ftlb wilwaukee impact and the clutch puller stopped turning and it’s not popping off, I’ve got a 690ftlb air impact and it’s not moving it anymore either, so I have to bust out the breaker bar?
Bow Hunting Michigan been a while since I watched this. If won’t come off hit end of puller under load with a hammer a couple times to send a shock wave. That don’t work you gotta cut it off I guess.
Hunterworks Inc. hmmm I’ve got some force on it and have been hitting it pretty decent but don’t wanna break anything, I’m having creeping issues when in gear and not hitting the gas so I just wanted to take it out and clean it up, guess I’ll just hit it with air and put the bolt back on lol 🤷🏻♂️
On a snowmobile primary, I pack the centershaft full of ATF and grease before sending the removal tool in. It creates an incredible amount of hydraulic pressure and assists with removal. Don't stand in front of the clutch when it lets loose though.
@@Hunterworks I don't think so been orking as a auto tech for 19 years am use to work with torque wrench ,torque stick and just my air and cordless tools , bought my rzr and have been doing a lot of work but when I bought a factory primary clutch and use my torque stick with my cordless I broke the clutch assembly..got a second one and use my snop on torque wrench and broke it again..used my cordless as you explained on this video and no issues LOL
@@mikemaday5599 still not understanding the question so I will answer based off what this video is about, take it off and put it back on, nothing to do it. Recalibrating is buying a clutch kit and installing it after you made some change like larger tires, sand riding or high elevation riding. You recalibrated the clutch to work with what you have or did or where you ride.
The best way to remove it is using hydraulic action, fill the hole with grease first then put in the extractor bolt, it works without hitting the end with a hammer.
This is the video where you call the puller a hunter works hardend tool and to buy yours The one you sold me is a EPI preformance tool not hunter works RZR/ RANGER
True, however this video is not a XP 1000 Ranger, you can't use these methods on a XP 1000 Ranger, that clutch comes off in two pieces. Sorry for the confusion
