CHRIS’ 2007 HARLEY DAVIDSON DYNA IS BACK IN THE SHOPS FOR A CLUTCH CABLE REPLACEMENT. HE MUST’VE GOT EXCITED ABOUT HIS NEW MOTOR AND STARTED RIPPING WHEELIES AROUND THE SOUTHEAST.
IN THIS VIDEO I’LL SHOW YOU THE STEPS TO REPLACING THE CLUTCH CABLE ON A SIX SPEED Harley Davidson TRANSMISSION. YOU’LL NEED TO TAKE THE EXHAUST OFF TO ACCESS THE TRANSMISSION COVER.
YOU SHOULD HAVE A NEW QUART OF OIL, A FRESH NEW GASKET FOR THE COVER, AND OF COURSE THE NEW CLUTCH CABLE.

Great video! Keep up the good work. I just got my 09 fxdb running after a 4 year hibernation. Replacing the clutch cable, brake components and throttle cables. Then to find some replacement wheels that dont cost half the price of my bike. Keep turning wrenches and rolling the road.

awesome thanks for the video.... just swapped some new bars on my bike and was a little confused on how the cable came off at the trans.. gave me all the info i needed to get the job done... funny and informative video so u got me to sub..

You can get away with not draining the tranny oil if the bike is resting on the kickstand. That is if it isn't overfilled already.

YEAH. I WATCHED A VIDEO OF A GUY DOING IT WITH THE FLUID STILL IN AND IT WAS A MESSY JOB SO I JUST WENT AHEAD AND DRAINED IT.

Stupid question! But is there any oil inside the lower half of the clutch cable? (below the adjustment junction) I think I pinched the cable because I had a small oil leak after moving my bike

Nah, not really. Just enough oil to keep it lubed. check your drain plug areas

Nice edit Andy, always getting better. Any tips on freshening up a black frame and touching up a black engine? Getting my sporty out from winter storage and it's looking a little down.

Thanks Rob. I appreciate that. Man, for a black frame, I seriously just sand off the rust spots and touch it up with some semi gloss spray paint. I usually use the engine enamel stuff. I’ve never sprayed an engine but I’d say degrease the hell out of it. Mask of anything you don’t want black, and use that same high heat engine enamel. Should probably get the job done. The oil was only two weeks old. I personally put it in the bike 2 weeks prior. I wouldn't reuse old oil if you don't know how old it is.
