How to Replace Crankshaft Position Sensor Ford Focus 2000-2007

Here is how to replace the crankshaft position sensor for a North American Ford Focus between the years of 2000-2007. This sensor was replaced due to a intermittent long cranking non start issue. This sensor is located on the front side of the engine on the passenger side. Anyone could do this repair and you can save money doing yourself!

These sensors come with an alignment tool so that it is perfectly aligned with the correct tooth on the pulley.

If you put it back in right where you took it out it will work just fine. I have daily driven this car since 2008. Thanks for watching!

@@2carpros Yes but they don't always come in set properly and it's good to show the whole process. I'm doing one now and looking for a quick video on the alignment process to ensure it's correct and I came to this video, but nothing mentioned on aligning the sensor. Assuming it's correct isn't the right move or the right advice to give to people.

Is there any need to adjust the sensor? The holes are slotted. How close does it go to the tone ring?

Yes I is a 2007 Ford 500 the belt broke the crank sensor wise I replaced it with a old crank sensor what colors are wives supposed to be when they putting it back together should I put a new one on

I have a mazda 2 2004 diesel, which is a ford fusion 1.4 tdci engine... On a diagnostics test its comes up wit a... P0704/P0704-60. Is that the crank sensor? Or clutch sensor? 🤔 Thanks in advance.

I have a Manuel 02 zx5. I just did this (sensor was on the front of the engine instead of the side). I replace the sensor, and the engine starts, but won’t move un less I have really high revels, and doesn’t stall out when I leave it in gear. Any idea what’s going on?

Always change the crankshaft position sensor at the same time with the camshaft position sensor. Hope this helps.

I have a 2003 ford focus se and ive found this model to have 3 different crank sensor locations. Mine is down in front by the radiator. Noting near to what you showed. My engine is a 2.0 16v zetec dohc. Itd be great if you had a video on it thanks

@@2carpros Hmm, The one we just replaced was on the other side by the catalytic converter & required to remove just one T30 torque but NO ROOM at all to remove, this here on yours, 2 bolts. But you mention 2005, I know from my own experience of owning a 2000, it's 2000-2004 that are easily compared for swapping & DYI repairs, perhaps this is the change in a 05 & up series (every few years the Ztec underwent changes).

Ya my 2000 ford focus 2.0 dohc its not on the left under the passenger side wheel well. Its under the catalytic converter like this guy says and only one bolt.
