Great video. A couple of hints for 2005 (and probably later) owners: There is a torx screw in the rotor that needs to be removed and if you notice, there are a pair of bolt holes that will fit M10 X 1.50 x 30 mm bolts that you can screw in to force the rotor off the hub instead of using a sledge hammer.

Add caliper grease to the back side of the pads where they touch the caliper and on the brake clips where the pads rest. This will prevent brake noise.

Good video but you forgot to mention one thing: when depressing the caliper with the "C" clamp, make sure you have removed the cap on the master cylinder......otherwise it's NOT gonna happen!

Great video. I wish just one time you would show this being done in a parking lot. Most people don't have a lift. Thanks.

Brake Jobs aren't usually done in a parking lot, but if you had to, you would just do the pads and save the rotors for home. Use a jack, it's the same procedure.

On 2000 Silverado 1500 4.3, I replaced rear brake, caliper, pads, and bled, the new calipers did not indicate Driver or passenger (wish I'd gotten them from you guys), brakes still don't feel like they are gripping. How do I know if the single piston calipers are on right? Pedal goes 1/3 down before brakes start and 3/4 to begin a hard stop. caliper bleeder look close to center, not up or down. Thank you, I really appreciate it. I'm an industrial maintenance technician, I love how descriptive you are in your videos, and how you don't leave out the prep work for each step (surface prep, tools, inspection etc.)

Thank you for the response, I'll definitely continue to go to you for the "know how" as well as get parts from you guys. And these guys deliver on that. Thanks again guys!

@grahamwalker2740

The best thing to do is to leave it closed and go very slow while compressing the piston you don’t want to introduce any air into the system and you risk doing that with the cap open

On my 2004 Chevrolet Silverado the calipers have torx bolts. I'm having trouble getting them off. Are they left hand threads by chance?
@1AAuto
@1AAuto 8 лет назад
+Larry 82 Not sure about whether they're left-hand threads. I don't think that they are, but it's possible that if they've been replaced that's just what the previous owner installed. Try soaking them in some kind of penetrating oil and leaving them to sit for a few hours, then soaking again just before you remove them. That should do the trick. For anyone else who might be doing this job, we carry the parts shown in the video on our website. Order from us and we'll cover the shipping. Nope. On my 2001 2WD 1500 ext cab 4.8l does not have 19mm caliper bolts…. Blasted things are a T-55 torx drive bit…. So annoyed. Had to borrow friend’s car to run down to auto parts store n buy a whole set. Also has a different bottom control arm than most of the vids too. Most of them have a single bolt bottom ball joint… mine has 4 rivets… still haven’t drilled those out yet. And different front shock bushings than what came in the kit… Redoing my front suspension/steering stuff has been a real bear… my truck is apparently a mutant.
