How to change and remove front left wheel drive and drive shaft LEFT side Toyota Corolla years 1995 to 2012. Front drive axle.CV axle. Driveshaft. Look also RIGHT side. Here is link: • How to replace drivesh... x9
The fact you were willing to go under a car held up by only a jack and a rock on a dirt road makes this video deserve a million likes. You my friend are a daredevil and I respect it.
There is not just a rock, there is also a big piece of log under it, redundant safety, jackstands in that dirt would have just sank. If anything, he is a much safer mechanic than Americans here doing oil changes with bottle jacks. A+. This vid gave me lots of pointers.
I have been wrestling with half of the trans axle being stuck in the transmission for near on a a full day now, tried clamps / pullers / j bars etc etc.... this video was my last hope, and the good old Hammer & over sized flat head masonry ? drill bit from behind has finally done the job!!!!! after hours of tapping away and finding the optimum angle Peter Fin....... thanks a million man. all the way from Melbourne, Australia... where we would consider your fine self a "....Bloody Legend ! " 10/10 , excellent !!!
Not everyone has all the stuff to do work on their cars, I have used stuff that I had no choice to use and got the job done and saved $100 if not $1000's of dollars by avoiding a trip to the shop. The main things are safety and not breaking other stuff while fixing your car. He did both and got the car fixed. I think him taking the time to explain the procedure deserves respect. Thanks for making the video. 😎👍
No way those ball joint bolts on the control arms and the hub nut will ever come out this easy, at least not in the damp and wet shitty uk where every car part turns to rust
I have searched all of you tube and not one video showed me to take out the axle until I came across ur video and bam!!! very well demonstrated and I will subscribe thank u so much for this video
Excellent video. I am going to replace one on a 1991 Corolla, and will try to do the seal in the transmission at the same time. Your detailed video will help.
hey man that was an awesome video. your patience is outstanding. your step by step explanation from start to finish was excellent. you should me how what to expect on my toyota corolla project. from the perspective that i just watched, i wish we were best friends and you can help me with my toyota corolla. good luck to you. wish you the very best. this world needs more good people like you that help others. thank you very much. MACY
Thank you for your video, how to CHANGE A DRIVE AXLE, it was VERY GOOD, STEP by STEP, you made it look really easy, now I know how to change my drive axle, thanks.
THANK YOU!!!!!! i have my air tools and stuff, but never changed one of these.Your video helped me alot. I kept thinking " if this guy can do it on the side of the road with hand tools and lumber, i have no excuse why i cant do it with alll the right tools. Again, thank you. ***** and thanks to the commenters for the heads up on breaking the 30mm bolt first. i would have made the same mistake. i know its a simple thing, but when you are trying for the first time, you get the blinders on thinking of the other stuff.
Hi Peter i have one question my 2003 toyota Corolla is it the same socket to open the axel nut a 30 mm are i need a bigger one thx for the info continue the good work my friend
Its not pretty, but its exactly how I have to work on my 98 Corolla. I even use the log to jack stand my car lol. I like the fact that you show that its not necessary to pull the brake assembly apart.
Nice video , I have a different car, and been thinking to do it myself but maybe I'll let the mechanic do this for me, nice of you to respond to every comment here
Peter Finn Yes it is another different model , i think i can do the repair myself but a lack some important tools like the spring compression and it costs more money to buy than to replace the shaft by mechanics , thanks for replying
Nice video. This job can be a pain in the ass. I've done this job before but forgot the trick I used yo get the out. I couldn't get a pry bar or screwdriver between the axle and the drive axle because the sub frame didn't give me enough clearance. I used a chisel eith a hammer on the drive axle and it came right out.
Hey, Peter Great video! I plan to replace mine in couple of weeks by your video instructions. I have just one question:do we need to lift both front sides of the car, or just the side where we are replacing the axle?
I've got the repair manual for the Corolla, and alternative to the wood block for the breaks and having it in gear you can put a pry bar in-between 2 of the threads for the lugnuts and lock that against the floor, although I would imagine that would be easier on the 5 lug cars like my 04 Corolla.
brother you are the man. thank you very much. this video was very helpful. i would have thought it was 20x's harder to change this cv axle out. un fortunitly the 2007 im working on is slightly different because of the pressed on bearing assembly but the just of the video is perfect. to the poiunt and very detailed. thank oyu for takeing the time to explain very thing out as clearly as possible as well. as i m an american you commuicated very well to us how truly easy it is to do this task with minial bull crap unlike other videos ive watched. i my friend thank you very much for helping my and my friend save alot of time and struggles and money doing it ourselves.. A+ al the way...
dam foreals shit i would have if i had known. ive never seen you work on your own stuff before...you know me bro im not scared to do it... but im use to rear wheel drive cars with v8's not frt wheel drives and 4 cylinders... lol good shit tho.
ya im working on bobs toyota so far ive done the front calipers and pads, rear rotors and shoes, and this monday im doing tranny drain and refill along with the cv axles on passanger side and drivers side... that is the only thing i cant find is how todo the passanger side. from what i gather from others is it is different not completely but slightly. so im still looking for the video with that in it. but this guy has alot of good how to's... and i plan on making mine since i finally found my camera again...
Hi Peter I am going to do this on my 1994 Toyota Celica tomorrow so when I remove the axle the fluid that will leak out is transmission fluid since it is an automatic? So I just refill by adding Dextron III like I would when topping of transmission fluid?
Thank you very much for this video! . .. followed step by step with you and I changed out the axle. ... . Will this same basic process work on the passenger side as well?
Thanks for the nice tips. BTW I cannot separate my Honda outer Driveshaft , I've hammer many times and it Jammed. I've use my "95MM Car CV Joint Drive Shaft Assembly Installaiton Removal puller Tool " and pipe trick still cannot separate it. Let me know you tips. Thanks again
axenz axtiz Hello. I have made new video on drive shaft dis assembly, please look it when it is ready. So, I am planning to some video also on Honda Civic.
Hi Peter, Thanks for this video.. One trick: to block the axle you could use a strong screw driver placed in between one of the slots of the brake disc and lock it against the brake block. What do you think? Terveisia from Lpr, EK
Could you please put your links to your "opposing" side axle replace videos at the top of the screen? Where they are at the bottom, when I go to click them the control bar for the video pops up and won't allow me to click the link! Thanks. :)
You don't have to mess around putting wood blocks on your brakes and all that to keep the wheel from spinning. Just put a bar in between the lug studs and touching the ground to keep it from spinning. Or put the wheel back on and lower the car down just until you break the axle nut loose.
Do we need to refill the gear box oil after the replacement? I had my axle replace and there was a white liquid grease that was dripping. I ask the mechanic if that grease needed to be refill he said that was not necessary. Just wanted to confirm.
Rocks and Tree Trunk ! How about mentioning that it would be great if one also had a Jack Stand and maybe a New Auto Parts Store bought Axle because the one you are installing is clearly a junkyard Axle.
Hello! I'd like to ask about gearbox oil that flows out. When i pull the shaft out and the oil starts to flow to a vessel, can i return the same oil to the gearbox afterwards or do i have to add some new oil or is it fine if i dont add anything and it stays at it is?
Peter Finn Thank you for your answer. Also as i havent opened it yet, how much oil actually flows out? Only some of it or it keeps flowing till empty as its pretty hard to refill the gearbox in my opinion.
Peter Finn Thank you again. I managed to change it, but now another problem showed up. My steering wheel is not straight at all when driving. When i dont drive and turn my steering wheel straight, then one wheel seems to be a bit angled as the otherone is straight. Is it possible, that i broke something or should i align it somehow?
Clicking noise, rapid clicking...while turning your steering wheel. If your CV boots are ripped it’s just a matter of time before you have to replace the axle...
i am trying to insert my new drive shaft into the gearbox, it has gone in and stoped not all the way. i have tried a hammer, to tap it in, any advice? its a toyota yaris. thanks
The easiest way to loosen the axle nut is to insert a flat screw driver on the outer edge of the rotor. You have enough room to insert one and put it against the brake caliper bracket, it will not turn!
My car makes a noise when accelarating not turning i think its the drive axle or the bearing it gets louder the faster u go what can it be . Toyota Celica 96 gt com.
10vuotta vanha video, mutta olis kyssäri mestarille aiheeseen liittyen. Itellä on vm.99 manuaali e11 1.6 4afe:lla. Onko tietoa noiden vetoakselien yhteen sopivuuksista 1.6-1.3, automaatti-manuaali, vvtkone facelift-prefacelifti? Ite pitäs akseli vaihtaa, mutta motonetti myy pelkkää vetoniveltä joten pitää hakea purkuautosta osa tai tilata ulkomailta eikä 100% tietoa mikä sopii.
