Kudos to the nice calm and detailed commentary of the mechanic, I thought I was watching Bob Ross paint!

I’m glad I watched this. I didn’t know the rear seat removal would give clear access to the bolts for the strut mounts. Thanks Heaps

well explained, clean environment, but I will never use a locking pliers to hold the new strut, it damages the chrome and then the seal. Use the allen and a open wrench.

Nice video and informative. I don’t think using greasy gloves to reinstall the seats is a good idea. Thanks

Fam go get a box wrench and a Allen wrench and do it right. Most companies won’t take them back with teeth marks.

Great video but as a customer I'd ask you please take off your dirty gloves when reinstalling the seats or wear a new clean pair the seats are a lighter color and get dirty very easily

So I have a 2008 Impreza hatchback, and something similar is happening with me, only that the shock was just super worn out, I replaced the shock last night and now the tire is hitting the wall even more, I had bought the right shock and everything too so I don’t know what to do

Is this about the same process for an 02 Impreza? From what I’ve read online 02-07 Impreza are relatively the same.

The sedan with the gd body code and the wagon with the gg body code have have similar architecture so it should be for 02-07

This thing has more rust than our 1958 VW Beetle that was left under a tree for 35 years. (Thats not Hyperbole, im being serious - Salt on roads is a horrible way to deal with snow - Heated highways much better idea. )

For the nut under the seat belt, would a crowfoot wrench on a torque wrench work? The torque would not be applied directly at the center of rotation, so the force won't be right, is there be a calculation that could be made to get it right? Or do you get the senior tech with the calibrated elbow to do that last nut?
@TheRiverstock38
@TheRiverstock38 4 года назад
You could calculate the added leverage from the distance added by the crows foot. Or you could just do what every tech in the world does on strut mounting nuts- never get the torque wrench out of your box for this job. Anyone thats worked on anything for a length of time would just go by feel and experience on this stuff.

Hey, how come you didn't need to use spring compressors to put the spring on the new strut??
@TheMausymaus
@TheMausymaus 4 года назад
The rears aren't very compressed by the strut itself like the fronts are on these cars for whatever reason. The spring is kinda just sitting in there when the assembly is out of the car. I don't know if this is the case for every car, so I always put the spring compressor on and compress until the spring pulls away from the strut so I know it's safe to disassemble.

The strut camber bolt stripped at around 110 ft-lbs. Are you sure 145 ft-lbs is correct? Can I just do 90 ft-lbs or so?
