Thank you. So grateful for this video. I thought I was going to have to buy a new vacuum. One of the metal piece broke off the plug. I watched the video and It's as easy as it looks in the video. Much appreciated
Big thanks! My wife wanted to throw out our 10 year old dyson. After seeing this video I opted to fix the plug instead and now it works like new. This was a big help to prevent a perfectly good vacuum from going to the landfill. Cheers
Thank you! I had a prong break off my cord today. As with another commenter, I couldn't identify the correct one on Amazon, so I went to a nearby hardware store where I found the exact plug. 20 minutes after getting home my vacuum was up and running.
Hi thank you for your video. I have a question. I went to amazon thinking I'd find one leviton double prong plug but there are a ton of different ones. How do I know which one I need...the technical info is all over the place. I have a rainbow e series vac. I just figured 125 watt plug but oh my gosh. I'm a sr. Lady so I'm trying to do this simple fix and not pay $125 and have to wait 2 weeks! Thank you for your help.
This is exactly what I was looking for! I found a Leviton plug that looks the same--it is labeled "Leviton Residential Thermoplastic Straight Blade Plug 1-15P 20-16 AWG 2 Pole 2 Wire." Does that sound like the right replacement plug for a polarized nema 1-15? Thanks!
Thanks! I picked up a Miele that was being discarded because of the plug--someone had pulled it out by the wire instead of gripping the plug - - so I'm hoping this will solve the problem and I'll have a free vacuum 😊
So I followed the instructions (I've replaced many plugs on lamps before) and my vacuum worked great--for about 3 minutes--and then it just stopped working. I'm wondering if something shorted out?
Hi e series rsinbow vac again uses up to 10.8 amp w motorized hose so shoukd i get 15 amp levitron 2 prong plug? Snd whats dif between polized plug vs non polorized? Which do i need?
My vacuum plug broke. Plug has 2A. I placed a Leviton 15A replacement and this caused several breakers to flip. Is plug pulling too many amps and reason for flip?
The plug itself doesn’t draw amperage the vacuum does (typically vacs draw 10-12 amps). I’m not an electrician so I could be wrong about this but if your breaker is tripping you may be over the amp limit or perhaps you have a GFI and it’s tripping. I would verify that your wires are not touching each other inside the plug. Outside of that I’m not exactly sure what is causing your issue.
