Yay. I had to watch this with my 🎧 on so I could get the full affect on the screen. Now, if you hand over the Vanagon, I can really learn how to do all of this 😂a lot better.
Ha Ha, great comment buddy!!!! You got to give yourself more credit, fuses and light bulbs are a start, baby steps :) The most important thing in the job is clamping that shaft down at the bottom, without doing that there is the possibility the shaft could slid down. Other than that its actually pretty simple :)
I’m watching this because the same problem you were having with the headlights not working. I think you said you were going to show an easy way to test the ignition switch to see if that was the problem and I didn’t see that in the video. Did you do that somewhere else?
You caught me at a great time as I'm on line responding to comments right now !!! Here is the quick test for you :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gNUY1z14kG8.html
LOL. I replaced my headlight switch, and it did nothing for my headlights problem. Now I discover this video, and learn that the ignition switch powers the headlight switch. Bingo (I hope). Guess I'll order part 111 905 865L. Thank you GK. I'll watch this video again, once I get the new switch. Do you know if a rabbit switch works for the 1986 Vanagon?
Hey Thanks for the comment, I'm not sure if a rabbit switch would work. I ordered mine from Go Westy and if I remember correctly it was pretty cheap. I would just order one from them, as maybe the current capacity or something could be different. The other thing I did do was instal the headlight relay kit and LEDs. The new switch will burn out prematurely if you use your headlights alot with factory lights. Here is the LEDs, they are brighter and use less power so easier on your system ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-b-pVqWvi_kQ.html Hope you are enjoying your weekend :)
You can still change the ignition switch by taking everything apart, but you won't be able to start the vehicle as the switch will be in whatever position the cylinder is in.
