HOW TO RESHAPE A STRAW HAT | Perfect Summer Hat | Christina Joann 

Hi everyone. Just a quick word of advice ftom someone with experience of dying straw & sinamay and of re-blocking hats. Firstly, be careful. Steam can be very hot. If you have trim etc glued to your hat, be prepared to have to re-glue it as this process, whilst the only way to re-shape a flagging hat, can dissolve glue. (Most trim can either be sewn back on or applied with a water based glue). Also, be careful steaming a drak hat over a light fabric as in this case. Most hat dye is not colourfast, and can bleed onto other fabric surfaces sufficiently to run them. Newspaper pinned onto on ironing board makes a good work surface. Happy hat restoring!

Oh my gosh, thank you. I needed to fix a sun hat with a crease in the crown. I haven’t worn it in over two years. Contemplated tossing it. This just saved it!

Great advise thank you. I do not have a steamer machone but I used the iron on steamer mode and boom it works for my Hat.

It was the crown of the hat , I was concerned about and you did not answer or show that ! But thanks fir suggesting steaming it ! But surely it depends on the type and fineness of the straw in the hat ! Will it work fir a genuine pannama hat ?

I don’t got a steamer so I just used my thingy for coffee and boiled hot water and it worked, my luffy straw hat was bended
