Hat damage! Just like death & taxes, this is just another misfortune, inevitable during the course of life. Ha! But not to worry, in this video we walk you through a step by step process how to punch your favorite wool felt, beaver or straw hats, back in to shape. I wasn't paying attention and my movers packed my beautiful felt hat at the bottom of a box full of clothes and shoes.........praying your method works! EDIT:: it did!!! I know its just a hat, but it looks new again. Thanks for your video ❤️. Additionally, I ordered some hat stiffener (Brickmore Kahl). I will edit my comments again letting you know how it went!

Purchased a hat on line. Upon opening the package, I discovered my hat was crashed.So I googled how to straighten a straw hat and you showed up on RU-vid. WOW I watched your video and I almost forgot that I had a steamer. The steamer solved the problem now my hat looks great thanks again! 😅

Thank you Sir! I accidentally eft my wool Kangol Mowbray Pork Pie Hat in my car for a few weeks and the summer heat caused it to fold and warp. I will try this out and post my results. Side note, whoever shot and edited this did a stellar job on the colors and skin tones. Aces

Didn't have a steamer but like any self-respecting Italian I do have a big pot for spaghetti. Boiled some water in there and used that steam to repair my hat; worked well.

I have a Scala 'New Yorker' Fadora which has a leather sweatband and looks just like the red one you were fixing and the blue one you showed (expect it is grey). With that being said, do I only steam the outside of the hat or is there a different way to steam the inside?

Hi Mr. Arellanes, You can steam from the inside or outside, however, it's typically easier to steam gently from the outside to target the areas that need fixing and attention. Hope this helps. 👍🏼

Check your local Bed Bath & Beyond or Amazon. They have a good collection of hand held steamers. Connair is a good brand. 👍🏾

Great question sir! You can find the hat stiffener in the link below. For a water based varnish, try any home building department store in your area i.e. (Home Depot or Lowe's) and they will surely have some in stock! Yes. This should work on almost any fabric. The more delicate the fabric...simply hold the steam a little further away from the item. 👍🏾

I just bought a bunch of slightly crushed vintage hats for £2 a piece, all kinds of materials, straw, viscose, propylene etc. Would this be safe for all of them?

Not sure about the viscose and propylene since those are synthetic materials. But this procedure should work great on wool and straw fedoras. Good luck! 👍🏾

I wear a "crushable" Stetson...yep, it got crushed alright. The brim is horribly wavy now instead of flat. Is there a hat stiffener for wool hats?

Because leather is such a delicate material, if you intend to steam it, please use a VERY very low level of steam, and steam from the inside of the hat.
